  1. Gul's got it - wonky Steam pages, but whatever package gives you the base game or the base game plus expansion is the one you want. Worth mentioning that ESO plus does not include Morrowind, which is a full expansion that adds more stuff than the regular DLC. That said, Gul is also correct that you don't really need any of the extras. I have the Morrowind expac and really haven't even looked at the zone it adds. I have the ESO plus membership largely for DLC access (and the sweet, sweet crafting item bag). I don't actually need to play the DLC content yet - I've barely touched the base game quest lines and my highest character is level 42. But I thought the Thieves Guild DLC looked fun, and I definitely wasn't disappointed! It has an interesting main quest line and side quests, hides "troves" in all areas of the game for you to find, and even has repeatable quests that I like. Normally, I flat out refuse to do dailies, but these are pretty fun. There's one where you have to try and rob an area in seven minutes or less, and you lose time if you get caught. You can still finish the quest if you run out of time, but you don't get the full reward. And it's hard! I've only beat the timer two or three times (out of maybe 10 tries?). There's another daily where you have to travel to different zones and rob a certain number of people - also not as easy as it sounds! I created "SouthofHeaven" on the PC/NA server today ("South of Heaven" was claimed already), leave a message here if you want an invite! I just need @accountnames for anyone who wants an invite.
  2. Correct, there's not cross platform connection, and I believe we are all on PC. Sure, I don't think it could hurt to have an unofficial guild started for people to chat and group up. Are we OK to use the SOH name for that @Ashin, or would I need to use some other name? Restated: can existing guild members form an SOH guild in a game before it turns into a cohort proper, provided we aren't recruiting new members?
  3. That's a good question that I'm not sure I can answer! I've been playing ES games since Morrowind, so a big part of the appeal for me is definitely the nostalgia factor. I think it's very similar to FFXIV in that they are both very much IP fan service mmos. I do think someone with no ES experience could pick the game up and enjoy it, but I'd also say that the game caters to existing fans of the series. Has anyone else here without ES experience tried the game and enjoyed it? The game is not cross platform, so we all have to be on the same platform (which is pretty silly IMO, allegedly there's no technical limitation preventing it, sony and microsoft just don't want to play nice together).
  4. Fair enough! @Ashin I think its safe to say that at this point there are a few vets interested in playing the game, but not enough veteran interest in a cohort. I'll do a couple trial events for the people who are interested in playing the game and see where it goes from there. Something I should have included in the OP -there are a TON of roleplayers playing this game. I don't think I can remember playing an mmo before where the RP guild recruitment spam outnumbers the non-rp spam. Check it out if your into RP and looking for a game. It's a multi-guild game - you can be in up to five guilds at one time.
  5. Sweeeeeeet - yeah definitely casual. One or two organized groups a week for dungeons. We'll look to fit the night in around existing event nights in other games. I'd say we shouldn't worry too much about which alliance we're in since our focus will probably be casual pve.
  6. I have this on my radar to buy next time it's on sale
  7. I laughed pretty good when I saw this. Jennifer Hale's and John Cleese's VO roles were definitely some of the more forgettable parts of the game haha. So bad it stuck with you for a couple years! Wooooooo sounds good! Maybe you two would like to be the second and third vets for the cohort... Also, damn, my characters are all Ebonheart or Daggerfall. No big deal though, my highest character is only level 37. I'll just make a new Aldmeri character if we want to PvP.
  8. Hello! I'd like to kick off the brave new world of SOH cohorts (https://www.sohguild.com/index.php?/topic/19606-south-of-heaven-reimagined/) by proposing a PC/NA cohort for The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO). What is ESO? ESO is themepark MMO based on the Elder Scrolls universe (think Skyrim, Oblivion, etc.). It's buy to play with an optional subscription, DLC, and a recent paid expansion. It's one of the better buy to play MMOs in terms of business model (in my opinion anyway). The cash shop is relatively unobtrusive and the subscription feels truly optional. It's mechanics are largely familiar to any MMO veteran. The combat is action based and works great with a controller. Two areas where it stands out from other themeparks are character skill customization and scaling content. Without getting too into the weeds, each class can perform the classic mmo roles (tank, healer, dps). Some classes are better suited for one role over another, but there's a a lot of room to experiment and customize. I've also found the scaling content to be very well implemented. Players are free to explore every area of the game at any level (outside of the "hardmode" group content and raids). What Would an SOH ESO Cohort Look Like? With the caveat that I think the direction of any cohort should be determined by it's future members, here are some of my ideas for an ESO cohort. - Super casual, built around weekly/twice weekly dungeon and world boss runs. - Focus on enjoying all the game has to offer/avoiding the "race to endgame" trap. - As much as possible, keep guild activities open to all skill and character levels. ESO makes this pretty easy. Consideration - World PvP participation is locked to your alliance (there are three). If we want to PvP together, we need to be in the same alliance. Alliance is irrelevant for everything else. So, any takers? Leave a comment here if you'd like to see an SOH ESO cohort.
  9. I haven't been on a fleet yet where there's been a spousal screaming match on open comms, that qualifies as pretty weird and wild in my book!
  10. Founders makes some good stuff, although I tried Backwoods Bastard the other day and it was the worst beer I've ever had haha! Also, welcome to the corp!
  11. o7 Stephen, nice talking to you earlier today! Random question time! - What's the weirdest Eve fleet you've ever been on? - Favorite drink to go with your space adventures? Beer, wine, anything. We know a great scout seemingly drinks nothing but apple juice, so I don't anything would surprise us! - What's your go to ship on a kitchen sink roam? I'll be checking out your API soon, and then we can set up a time to either get you on a fleet or have a quick comms interview. Talk to you soon!
  12. o7 Miori, it was nice to meet you yesterday! Did you put an in-game application in yet? If so, I'll see if one of our directors can accept it today. In the meantime, feel free to hang out in our Discord lobby and chat/ask us any questions you have about Eve and PvP. Random question! What's your beer of choice for flying around New Eden?
  13. Nice kill! It looks like someone finished off that Ishkur for us too: https://zkillboard.com/kill/66121263/. Glad you came along, and welcome to the corp! We'll sort out your Discord, forum, and in-game access today. Now that you've got the taste for space blood, we've got PvP fleets on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday this week all around 0230ish. One thing I forgot to mention last night is that there's no obligation or pressure to join all of these fleets. We typically host two to three fleets a week, and then there are more available to us on top of that through the militia. Our goal is for everyone to join one fleet a week if possible, but the requirement to retain membership is one fleet a month.
  14. Enjoy the wedding! I'll catch up with you when you get back. Our next fleet is Tuesday night at 0300. It's a frig roam in FW low sec, so you should probably join the militia if you plan on joining. Good news, bad news. Bad news first, you'll probably want to to look at training at least one frigate, destroyer, and cruiser hull to V in the over the next couple months. The good news is that I took a look at your API and your support skills are in pretty great shape, so it's not going to take much focused training to get you in to really solid PvP fits. We'll help you pick some ships that we fly regularly to train towards.
  15. Hi Rakh! Nice to see you here, and great intro post. I especially like that you anticipated Oshri's inevitable taco question ! Frigs are great fun, we've always go at least a couple along on our null sec roams. A couple weeks ago, we were doing pretty much nothing but frigs and dessies in Black Rise. Check out our killboard from mid to late October, I bet we lost 150+ frigates haha. Have you trained any of the specialized frigates (especially Interceptors or Electronic Attack Ships), and have you trained any of the frigate skills to V? If you we're going to fly a frigate that vaguely resembled a breakfast item, which would it be? We have a fleet out of Jita tonight at 0230 Eve time, you're welcome to join us! If you can make it, we'll want to meet up with you a bit early if possible (0210?) so we can get you set up on our mumble server and find a ship for you (the firetails you have might work, but it'll be like starting on expert mode!).
  16. I should have mentioned that this is less a roasting and more an interrogation...onto the questions! 1. I must know more about this brewery near you with the beer worth waiting in line for a few hours for. Really that good? (you've probably told me about it more than once, but I'm usually some combination of drunk/FC distracted when you do!) 2. You're at a terrible airport hotel bar, and your only options for beer are mass produced pilsners. What do you pick? (P.S. the bartender threatened to cut of your hands if you ask for liquor or wine. P.P.S. The bartender is Gigx in this scenario.) 3. CCP announces Eve is switching to full VR game next year, and then promptly shuts down after a brief but well received run in the VR world. What game do you play instead?
  17. I stand corrected!
  18. o7 @RKJakTup Nice to meet you! Lol Dr Pepper = Big Red.
  19. My computer's out of commission - I started doing a rebuild and realized I was missing something midway through! Offline til Thursday :O

      Ashin

My last experience of building my computer was incredibly frustrating.  I decided (back then) that I'm not going to build anymore.  However, now that my computer is having problems, I am again debating the merits of rebuild/upgrade vs. buy ....

Build build build! I've done five or so builds in the last 10 years and it's gotten easier/less frustrating each time. I would have been done in record time if I had remembered that DDR3 ram was obsolete and not compatible with new motherboards. That's what I get for trying to be cheap and recycle. Overall, you can get ridiculous power right now at relatively low prices if you build.

  20. Down in Harrisburg - my grandparents live in Lime Ridge though, so I've spent a lot of time in the Bloomsburg area. We go to the fair every year!
  21. o7 Gartius from a fellow PA resident!
  22. Ah @Ashin is a whiskey guy if I remember right, you'll be in good company!
  23. o/ Otto! Another trader huh, we're full up on those out here in Branch I'm afraid (just kidding!! ). I have just one (very important) question: what's your favorite beer?? Look forward to flying with you!
  24. Hey i eat veggie tacos almost every day! Welcome to the corp Hirab!
  25. Welcome Susitna! Look forward to flying with you
