  1. Hey again Slain'te! Nice to have you here. You caught us at time when we aren't actively recruiting, but we'd be glad to have you aboard. We're mid-move out of Syndicate - heading back to Orvolle in Placid. Long story short, it's a bit of a crazy time! We'll be out of Syndicate by this weekend and back to a regular schedule of roaming and stuff.

Speaking of roaming - yep, we're pretty small and microgang pvp focused. We typically fly T1 and faction stuff and tend to take more fights than we should. I say in our recruitment ad that we're the equivalent of beer league bowling and it's definitely true haha. We just like to fight and aren't picky about how it ends

I sent you an invite to our Discord in a PM - let's set up a time to chat quick sometime this week. I'll answer any questions you have about us and then shoot you an invite. Talk to you soon!

    Hello everyone,
I was chatting with Jamroar Pava in the public Eve channel, and he suggested I post here.

I have been playing Eve since 2003, but with some (big) gaps.
I last played as an Omega about a year ago, when my Corp abandoned Eve en mass, to play something else; I don't remember what, but I wasn't interested. We were small gang PvP focused.

I started as an industrialist, but over the years migrated to PvP, preferring solo and micro/small gang.

I am currently Alpha on both accounts, and haven't played much in the last year.
If I find the right Corp, I will re-sub both, and now have time to play, with the lockdowns.

This account (Slain'te) can fly pretty much everything sub-cap. My second account (Iron Orchid) flys support (and caps potentially).

I love the cat and mouse of small gangs, but never had the time to study common fits and their counters, and hence my play is casual.

IRL, I grew up in UK and Africa, but now living in Ontario, Canada (30+ years). I'm a software developer, mainly c#/sql but increasingly NodeJS, working for the Federal Govt.
I sometimes play WoW, but closely watching Dual Universe.

    Stay safe (in IRL too!)

HI Slain'te! I'm heading to bed now but will respond and send you our Discord info tomorrow morning. Talk to you soon!

  3. Hey Ishta! Nice talking to you yesterday, glad to have you aboard. Looking forward to having you on a fleet with us!

Former PA resident huh - cool! I live in PA and work for the state gov in Harrisburg. I think quite a few of us live in the PA/Maryland/New York/New Jersey area. I haven't spent too much time in NJ, but I thought it seemed like a pretty nice place to live the last few times I visited. PA people tend to hate on NJ, but seems like an underated place to me!

What genres are you into reading wise? I've been really into horror and weird fiction in the last couple years. I just started reading this pretty cool experimental weird fiction book called House of Leaves - it's pretty good stuff!

  4. Hi Wzok Oran/Jared - nice to meet you! We'd be glad to have you aboard/show you around the game a bit. You can really accelerate the Eve learning process by joining a group, getting involved in fleets, and asking questions. The game really does have a pretty brutal learning curve, but it rewards patience with moments you won't find in any other game. I've been playing off and on since 2012 (my steam says 3550 hours, but it's exaggerating slightly), and there are still whole sections of the game I don't know much about at all!

I'll PM you a link to our Discord here in a minute. Let's pick a time this week to meet/chat and then we can send you an invite to the Corp. Look forward to talking/flying with you soon!

  5. Hi Captain Kai - glad you found us! Sounds like we'd be a great fit for you. Let's try to set up a Discord chat sometime this week. I'm available every night until 0330 Eve time, let me know what time works for you. I'm going to PM you the link to our Discord here in a minute. Talk to you soon!

  6. Hey Downsouth - nice to hear from you! I'm going to send you a PM with our Discord link here soon. Let's try to talk sometime this weekend and then we can get you an invite to the corp. You picked a great time to look us up. We're joining up with an alliance in Syndicate that is active primarily in EUTZs, so you'll be able to meet/hang out with people even SOHCO  people are offline. We're planning to expand our recruiting to EUTZs too once Tyrlis moves to Europe too. Hopefully we'll have some decent activity in EUTZ in the next couple months. Talk to you soon!

    Hello all,

I saw your recruitment post on r/evejobs and decided to reach out and introduce myself.

    About me

My real name is Nick, I am 30 and live in Montana with my wife. I started college a little later than most and have about one more year before I graduate with my BS in computer science. I love playing games to unwind after the day and I am generally online for around 2 hours between 6:00pm-10:00pm MST (0100-0400 Eve) a few times a week.

I usually go by my username, Shibity. But I don't mind too much if you alternatively use my real name or my eve character name.

    Eve Background

My in-game character is Kane Apterus. Despite having my account for nearly 3 years, I've actually only played for around 2-3 months total. When I first got the game in early 2017, I rushed into joining a small corporation and, frankly, it was a disaster. I was very green at the game (still am) and this group had a habit of simply telling me what to do without any explanation, and then would be quite rude and condescending when I would make mistakes. I felt intimidated and left the game behind for the last ~2 1/2 years.

Recently, I've started getting back in the game. I've been doing some safe, vanilla isk-making tasks like hauling goods, station trading, mining, and been trying to train up some of my skills (I'm still really low, ~925k SP). As you all know, there's only so much this game can offer when you are playing solo and I know that I'm missing out on huge fun.

    What I'm hoping for

I'm looking for some nice people to play eve with who can teach me how to PvP and have some good laughs along the way. I'd love to make some new friends and experience all the things eve has to offer.

I'll be reaching out in-game soon and look forward to speaking with you guys.

    Thanks,

    Shibity

Hi Nick/Shibity - nice to see you here! I sent you a mail this morning with our Discord link. Let's try to get on Discord sometime today so that we can get you a corp invite.

I had a similar experience with a bad corp when I started playing, so I definitely know the feeling! We can get you started with basic PvP mechanics pretty quickly. I recently started using twitch to share my screen with new players so they can see first hand how to do some things. There are so many little UI quirks and hidden menus in Eve that it's often best to just see what someone else is doing. Look forward to showing you some cool tricks soon!

  8. Hi Stan - glad to have you aboard! We're looking forward to answering any questions you have, so hit us up on Discord or in-game any time. We've got a bunch of guys who were in your position recently - I'm sure they will have some good advice for you.

    Here's your first training goal:

We fly Caracals pretty regularly as our main organized fleet doctrine. Training for this ship will get you into the main DPS ship for most of our Saturday fleets. You can see this fit in our in-game corp fittings by opening the fitting window and looking in the Cruisers menu of the fittings. You may need to check the little "corp" icon at the top left of the menu, and you may also need to expand the fitting window by hitting the little wrench icon. When you select the fit in game, you'll be able to see the training you need to do to be able to use this fit. That only tells you half the story though. Generally, you want to get the skills required to fly the ship, and all of the skills that support those skills, trained to III as soon as possible. You can come back and train stuff to IV later (highly recommend that!). What do I mean by support skills - well to start there are many "missile support" skills that make your missiles better - Warhead Upgrades, Target Navigation Prediction, Guided Missile Precision, Rapid Launch, Missile Projection, Missile Bombardment, and Missile Launcher Operation. Training all of these skills to III will make your missiles dramatically more effective. Then there are shield support skills, fitting skills, rigging skills, etc. that all factor in to how effective your ships are. Figuring all this stuff out will really help you get your head around how ships work in Eve.

So, we really recommend working on training this Caracal. We also recommend looking at some smaller ships, like frigates and destroyers, that you might want to fly when we do more informal roams (which we do pretty often). We didn't have enough people online to do WH PvE last night, so we all just hopped in ships to go PvP instead - no set doctrine, just whatever we wanted to fly. You'll want to have some ships like that on standby in Stacmon. I recommend looking at some of the missile based frigates since you're already training in that direction with the Caracal. I can help you import ships once this Halloween event ends.

Well that's probably enough information overload for now haha. Look forward to flying with you soon!

  9. Hi Vincentia - welcome to the corp! I just sent you an invite, so you should have it next time you log on.

I totally forgot to mention this to you last night, but we do have some options for you to start checking out logi. We have a Scythe in our Caracal PvP doctrine, and an Augoror in our WH PvE doctrine. We haven't been using the Scythe that much (we generally need more Caracals for those fleets), but we're using the Augoror pretty much every WH PvE night (Thursdays @ 0100). We have the Aug fit saved in our corp doctrines in-game if you want to check it out/see if you need any training for it. There's also always room for random logi when we do small roams through low sec, so feel free to import some of your own fits for kitchen sink action.

It was nice talking to you last night, and we look forward to flying with you! The next schedule event is PvE night on Thursday @ 0100, followed by PvP night on Saturday @ 0100.

  10. Welcome to the Corp Attazach! Hope you enjoyed your first roam last night. It doesn't take long at all to get the basics of fleet PvP, so I definitely don't see your lack of experience as a negative. It's actually good in a way - it just means you'll learn our good (and bad) PvP habits instead of someone elses! Looking forward to flying with you more. Feel free to ask us questions anytime - we're here to help!

  11. Hi Isaiah - nice talking to you last night! I think we've roamed Provi a bit on almost every Saturday roam we've done so far - it'll be like a homecoming for you haha. Let me know if you need any help getting set up in Stacmon. I have doctrine ships to loan out there, so you really only need to set up your extra PvP ships (whatever random stuff you like flying). We have posts on our Punisher and Caracal fleets in the Reference section of the Eve subforum. You'll be able to see that area today. Look forward to flying with you!

So, I put in my in-game application. Let me know if you need anything else.

You should be good to go - I accepted both applications yesterday. Eve makes the applicant accept the acceptance for some unknown reason - you have to go into the corp tab and push a button there.

I first heard of South of Heaven when it was a corporation in the Blades of Grass [2GTHR] alliance. My first corp outside of newbro-highsec drudgery was in 2GTHR's militia alliance and that is where I learned how to EVE. I remember having fun on some of Simone's fleets. But, SOHCO eventually parted ways with 2GTHR and I stayed with them for a couple years. It was a good couple years. I had a lot of fun in the disaster that was the latter-day DCU and in the hobo war down in Tenerifis. However, it's time for me to move to a place with more casual PvP and less moving again because TEST has decided to resume pushing us around.

I am pleased to see that the Code of Conduct here is actually not very different at all from 2GTHR values (which is what drew me to them in the first place), and that's very important to me in any sort of association. Maturity and basic human decency are (or at least ought to be) prerequisites for any group that I want to be a part of.

I look forward to getting into some gudfights under the SOHCO banner.

Hi Aleff! Great talking to you last night and glad to have you aboard. Practical and I were just talking yesterday about how much fun we had in Ziriert during the BoG days and how we're basically trying to recreate that atmosphere full time. Looking forward to flying Jackdaws with you again soon! I definitely think you'll find a continuation of the BoG culture here - we were sad when we left because they were basically our ideal alliance culturally, but we just needed more of that pew pew pew haha. For fleets this week - we're doing a WH dive on Thursday and a PvP fleet Saturday, both at 0100. You can find the PvE night ships for this week at the end of this thread: https://www.sohguild.com/index.php?/topic/20378-wh-fits-guides-etc/. We're taking out Caracals on Saturday, those fits are here https://www.sohguild.com/index.php?/topic/18122-doctrine-sidewinders-wip/. I'm linking them for reference, but you don't actually need to show up in Stacmon with a ship. I have ships to give out there you can use, or you're welcome to bring you're own.

    Hi everyone!

Im one of the new members that joined with Jamroar, Rorian, and Keith. My real name is Zack. I havent been on much do too some situations going on IRL. From here on out i should be good to play almost every night though. Im looking forward to play with you guys and appreciate accepting me into your corp. I am extremely new. I've only played for a week so far and would graciously ask you to help out as much as possible because i have very little idea what im doing lol.

    - Sasuke

Hey Sasuke, welcome aboard! We're glad to help with any questions you have or directions you might need - drop a question in chat or Discord whenever. I'm betting you guys will all no more about the game than I do in a just a few months haha. So what's your favorite ship and/or favorite activity so far? Do you have any medium/long term goals (let us know, we can help!)? Look forward to flying with you!

  15. Hi Codfish/Michael - nice meeting you last night! Welcome to our ever-expanding group of programmers/Eve players! Looking forward to getting out there and PvPing with you. My playtime/playstyle is the same as yours - i can do random stuff for an hour or so during the week, and then I play a lot on the weekends. Definitely come check out the WH - it's a low sec static connection, so it's usually pretty quiet. I'm getting ready to start some PI there, now that we're almost done with the POCOs. How about a few random questions?

    1. What kind of programming do or what industry?

    2. You last played before I even started haha - what's your favorite memory from the glory days of Eve?

    3. Favorite Eve ship?

  16. Hey Projekt - welcome aboard! It was nice talking to you last night, glad to have you with us. Looking forward to getting into some decidedly mediocre tier pvp with you haha.  I'm going to piggy back off one Tbert's questions - I started with Genesis too, so I'm interested in hearing if you have any favorites? I've got one of those new sega classic minis coming today, I think I mostly bought it to play Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. I want to get a setup going where I can do some Eve mining or something mindless on one screen and Mean Bean on the other haha. Hope to fleet up with you for some PvP this weekend!

  17. Hey Keith/David - great to have you in the corp! No shame in enjoying mining at all haha. I don't really do it right now, but I do think it's pretty fun and relaxing - a nice change of pace to more active PvE. Good luck on your professional exam!

Tristans are definitely cool little ships with lots of fun ways to fit them up. We have an inactive doctrine that uses neuting Tristans. The fits are still in-game corp fittings - they should still be fine fits to use for a small faction war gang.

Looking forward to getting out there and PvPing with you all some more!

For me, Arizona tea or a soda.

My favorite ship is the confessor, I like the look of it and it's fun with all the lasers :) It's nice to get at some range with it.

One of my favorite moments was when I first started, I was in BRAVE, they were still pretty small back then, so got to join in an EWAR frigate and felt like I was helping out, and bringing small fleets against all sorts of stuff.

Another was in my current corp, doing talwar fleets with a good group of people and melting the big ships is pretty fun.

Quality choice of ship for sure, confessors, jackdaws, and svipuls are some of my favorite ships. It was nice talking to you earlier - welcome to the corp!
