I was talking with Jynks yesterday via RealID when my internet dropped out. Time Warner apparently likes to do impromptu service shortages when one least expects it. I apologize for falling off the face of the earth mid-convo yesterday, Jynks. It's a very rare thing for this to occur.
Anyway, to talk a little about myself. I am searching for a new guild (hence the application) and I made a post on the WoW forums. Jynks happened to stumble across my post and led me to your site, so here I am. After doing a little poking around and seeing what you guys are all about, I'm very interested in hopefully filling the Fury Warrior spot you have open on your roster. You all seem like a close-knit group of folks, who have an avid interest in the game in both PvE and PvP, and you're not crazy hardcore ("OMG RAID 9 days a week at 50 hrs/day!"), so that's definitely appealing for me.
Like I said, I play a Warrior. You can see my armory at the link in the bottom of this page. Currently, I'm Spec'd Arms, however, don't let that fool you, I have raided as Fury, and have another 359 2-hander w/ Landslide to support such a spec. The guild I'm currently in, Grim Legion, is suffering the fate of many 25-man raiding guilds at this point in the expansion; many people are burnt out, and we are losing quality people left and right who are searching for guilds in other places. Likewise, many people seem to not log in with the exception of raid time, and are lacking both the skill and throughput to sustain a 25-man (normal mode) raiding guild. Threat has also become a serious issue with our tanks (hence my switch to Arms), and many of the top DPS spend valuable time during the fight sitting on their hands for 15+ seconds while the tank grabs threat, or licks the floor of the boss room. It's become a very boring and fun-lacking environment, and this has caused me to search for a new guild.
Let's talk about the past for a moment. In Wrath, I played a Death Knight for the vast majority of the expansion. While on him, I downed nearly all the hard modes in both 10 and 25 man difficulties, the exceptions being Anub 25 Heroic, and Halion Heroic. At the end of Wrath and the new DK rune mechanics, I really got sick of the DK playstyle and began leveling new alts to see what was out there. In my search, I leveled a Warlock and a Warrior, and fell absolutely in love with the Warrior playstyle. Everything that I was missing in a DK, I found in the Warrior. I enjoyed Fury a great deal, and Prot tanking was much more fun and more involved than Blood tanking. So, at the very end of the expansion, I switched my main to my Warrior, and have not looked back since. I maintain a Warlock alt, as well as a Paladin, both of which I play very, very casually. If I ever had to switch my main again, it would be, without quesiton, to the Warlock. But I digress.
Since Cataclysm, I've been solely DPS. I've tanked don very rare occasions, so I keep an Arms PvP spec since PvP is something I enjoy greatly in the game. I suspect if another crappy raid patch like ToC were to rear it's ugly head again, I'd probably just PvP full-time. As far as DPSing goes, I've played Arms almost exclusively, having several ranked parses on normal mode 10 man bosses. I enjoy Fury more than I like Arms; it has the huge burst potential, and having all my CD's line up to do massive DPS is something I enjoy greatly. But, as I outlined above, having tanks who cannot grab and hold threat makes Fury very frustrating to play.
My real name is Steve. I'm 22 years old, and I live in Rochester, New York (headed to Virginia in the coming months). I'm a student at present, but I'm graduating in less than 2 weeks. I work for a large, regional grocery store chain, Wegmans, and am relocating to work in one of our Virginia stores sometime this summer.
I'm hoping this is what you were looking for in an applicant. Like I said, I'm very eager to join a guild that has respectable, cooperative people, who genuinely enjoy having fun playing this game.
