    Salutations!

It was good gaming with you today! Looking forward to more!
  2. Welcome, Oolong! I hope you'll make yourself comfortable here. Yes, I really liked that Simone highlighted the 5 Dirty Words thread in the recruitment post--it immediately weeds out so many bad apples from the applicant pool. Before joining SoH (years ago!), I ran with a single-game guild that was full of selfish, foul, immature members. I don't know what decisions I made in my life at the time that led me to them, but it was all incredibly exhausting to endure. Fortunately I found a good thing with good people here. I hope you'll agree once you get to know us better. And as we get to know you, here are a few more questions! Would you describe your nervous laugh for us? For example, mine overcompensates by being too loud and announces to the world that I'm nervous, which in turn makes me more nervous. What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments in a game? In a game of Tic-tac-toe, are you the X's or the O's?
  3. Welcome, Arty! Glad to have you here. Yes, running with a group is so important in MMOs. It's funny, when Fera and I first started playing ESO, all we did was complain about it. ("Why is this jump mechanic so floaty?" "What do you mean I can only have 25 quests at a time?!" "#@$% this inventory UI!!") But we were in good company and ultimately found a sense of excitement and wonder in Tamriel. Having loads of fun now, and having friends along makes all the difference. Here are a few more questions for you: I'm someone who rents and has moved very frequently in the past. Do you have any horror stories from your time as an always-moving tenant? What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments in a game? If you had to choose between eating the steamed broccoli and mayo or slipping on monkey poo, which would you choose?
  4. Welcome, Celestial! Looking forward to gaming with you! I love that you mentioned FFX and Mass Effect in your intro. FFX is one of my favorites, and the wedding scene was my most memorable moment in that game. I had to rewatch it on YouTube just now. So good! I have a gap in my gaming career where I completely missed Mass Effect when it came out. Fortunately, one year at PAX East, Tyrlis, Grieve, and Toobz pointed out what a huge oversight that was on my part, and they put the game on my "must play" list. I'm so glad they did! In keeping with tradition, here are a few more questions for you: Is it true that northern Californians have strong feelings about SoCal? What's the funniest or oddest thing you've found while out exploring in Tamriel? Please describe the perfect pizza. (This isn't really a question, but it's important nonetheless. )
  5. Apologies for the late welcome, Paige! It's good to have you on board! Your pup is insanely cute! I'm super jealous of those who own dogs. My work/life setup isn't in a place where I could properly care for one, but someday I will have a dog again! In the tradition of asking questions, here are a few more for you: Moving to Indonesia sounds like a big adventure! Is there a reason you chose Indonesia, or did you throw a dart at a map? What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments in a game? What was the last thing Warlock chewed apart that you really rathered he hadn't?
  6. Apologies for being so late to welcome you, Vaaza! But it's good to have you here! I think we can all relate on game time being replaced with adulting. I used to practically live in a virtual environment until having a career got in the way. I don't get a chance to log in too much during the week, but I do carve out a good chunk of time on the weekends to slay orcs and stuff. Here are a few more questions for you: What do you find most interesting about your job as a test engineer? What's one one your favorite or most memorable moments in a game? Do you have any show/movie recommendations? I'm running out of things to binge watch.
  7. Welcome! It's good to have you here. I totally understand what you mean when you say gaming to us is like reading for others, and Elder Scrolls really highlights that. Final Fantasy too, but I wasn't a fan of all the driving around in FF15. Here are a few more questions to add to your list. Does the 503 in your handle mean anything? What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments in a game? Are breakfast foods superior to all other foods? (Please note: there is a right answer and a wrong answer to this one. )
  8. Thanks for taking this on, Simone and Fera! I'm totally hooked on this game and glad to see the cohort move forward. I know this was mentioned previously in the thread, but just to make it clear for the announcement, we are playing on PC, NA server. Unfortunately, the game is not cross-platform, and there is no way to transfer an account between platforms or NA/EU servers.
  9. Yes, Saturday night was a lot of fun! Looking forward to more of it A good thing about this game is that content is not gated by player level--everyone scales to the same level. So even if you're new and low level, you can still be a contributing member of the group! Here are some of the patch notes from when they introduced the concept of One Tamriel in 2016: Game content is no longer gated by a character's level Right out of the tutorial you'll have the freedom to go anywhere in Tamriel and play any content, in any order, just like other Elder Scrolls games. Your character will automatically scale and balance to the content The alliance restrictions have been lifted in all open-world zones, with the exception of PvP areas High-level players will be able to group with friends who are new to ESO; anyone below Champion 160 will scale so everyone can adventure together Every zone has been modified to ensure a mixture of content for solo and group play is available
  10. This Saturday evening sounds good to me! Simone, I think you are also on EST? And yes, I am having a ton of fun making all the noob mistakes! Hopefully we won't be entirely inept by the time Saturday comes around, but I'm sure it'll be interesting either way.
  11. I think these are very smart changes! Thanks to Ashin and the Council for putting them together. One small housekeeping item: some of the pinned posts on the Policy & Leadership forum are now outdated.
  12. After spending some time with the game today, I'm definitely interested in seeing more of it. Will keep an eye on the cohort status here, and looking forward to playing with more SoH folks!
  13. Fera talked me into checking out this title. Going to download it tonight and put in a few hours tomorrow! If anyone is around, we'll probably be hanging out in Mumble.
  14. I wore my first pair of heels tonight. It was a lot of fun, but I can't believe women wear them regularly! Brava!

If you're interested in some never worn charcoal gray snakeskin platforms in an 11 wide let me know, they take up too much space in my closet. :p

  15. As a part of Senior Week, my university department hosted a table-top gaming day, which is the best way to spend a day at work. :)

I was glad I picked up Pandemic for this event; it was entirely too much fun! And there are two new role cards since I played it last?! Yes, please!

  16. I just found out there's a board game cafe down the street from my apartment. How did I miss this for two months?!

oooh one of these was supposed to be opening in Cleveland sometime this year. I should check back and see if they did. Thanks for reminding me :D

  17. Super Random Question: Does anyone know of an organist in the Boston area looking for a job?

In the dictionary, this should be the example given for a term called "super random question".

oddly enough I know an organist.. If you'd like, I can see if he has anyone in his network in Boston.

Followed up with Toobz and Huntyre. Big thanks! Finding an organist is always tricky work.

Fera, I take my organists seriously, but I always joke about pianists ;)

  18. I thought I'd use the day off to check out ArcheAge. My Glyph account was banned 30 minutes after I created it while the game was still downloading, though. :(

I ended up doing that, but it's tied to an e-mail account I don't monitor.

  19. You're in good hands with Proof Welcome to SoH! We have a penchant for asking recruits all kinds of questions; so you may be on the receiving end of a few bizarre scenarios. While we're a mature guild, we also follow EULA naming conventions--this is important as we span multiple titles and work to protect our members across each. I don't doubt you'll mindphuck us in BGs with your penchant for Aurin blood. In the interim, would you be OK with providing your in-game name so I can make your forum name match? And for a few questions! What's your main class and role? Do you have any alts? If so, what made you pick up that class? What's an embarrassing moment you're willing to share? (In beta or in real life) Which TV show have you binge-watched on Netflix? Aside: Fera bites are the best
  20. My apartment hunt is done! Super excited! Zomg!

  21. Glad to have you on board, Lantheru! Vax has been an upstanding member of the guild, so it's great to meet one of his friends. The leatherworking sounds really cool, and you should definitely show off your belt with the shoulder strap. Sharing pictures is always encouraged I would've gone medium-rare on the steak question, but your answer is much more vivid. Somehow it made me think of cooking lobsters As Etol noted, we love poking at recruits with random questions. I'll forgo that if you'll grant me a simple request: Please share an embarrassing story about Vax with us. Or, if you're too kind, you can share an embarrassing story about yourself. Welcome to SoH!
  22. Dominican Republic is on my hit list for places to go! I've only ever been to the other half of the island, but a former coworker grew up in the DR. She visits regularly and always comes back with amazing stories. Welcome to the SoH
  23. Just found a new WS access boss! The roommate who didn't pay the internet bill.

  24. Mattplex the Nature Boy? I finally met him in Mumble today. Or at least heard his voice as we were all swarming the channel. Like Huntyre said, we aren't a crowd that's going to let you get away with being 'quiet and mysterious'. We're a community, and we have a lot of questions for those who come knocking! It's just our way or getting to know you. In addition to the standard fare of gaming history and your interest in joining SoH, here are a few other ice breakers that might help you out: How do you know Matt? What do you do for a living? What are a few random facts about yourself? What significance does the quote you included have to you?
