    Hi

Hi Breeze! Glad you found us From your story, I swear we could almost be siblings! lol -- I, too, game to gaming late in life (think I was 38 iirc); I'm now 54 and love-love-love it! Nor only do I get to do something I thoroughly enjoy, I get to do it in a pleasant environment w/ people from all over the world. Some folks bowl, others play golf -- gamers game ^^ Simone has proffered a good bit of information and I promise, it will all fall into place soon enough. You learn a TON from chatting w/ other gamers (as I did) so definitely download Mumble (and Discord). Oh, "MOTD" = Message of the Day and can be found in game by pressing G and clicking the house symbol in the upper right corner of the guild tab. Even though I've been playing MMOs for well over a decade now, each new game has different particulars and I found ESO's "particulars" to be somewhat counter-intuitive and woefully unexplained -- that is, until I started chatting up other ESO veterans (like Vaaza, who is a font of information! lol) Anyway, we're all here to help you surmount the learning curve and get the most out of your play time. Thursday nights I lead an ad hoc group for Public Dungeons, skyshards, and any other incomplete bits n bobs in a given zone (or if there's time). Tonight we'll be smacking Wrothgar. Join us!! I've altered your forum rank to Recruit so you can poke around a bit and see more of what we're about, and I've sent @breeze108 a guild invite. To accept, while in game press N (for Notifications) and click the check mark (I think). To access guild chat, type /g1 <space> in your chat window. I can show you how to set up a chat channel that prevents the incessant zone chat from obliterating all other relevant messages in your chat window if you like lol I look forward to grouping with you!

    Hello

Hi Teroz! Glad you found us Another cat lover? \o/ -- you're in good company! lol Many of us have cats (I have 3: Chaos, Loki & Luna(tic)) and our Discord #social is full of daily pics n posts. Are you currently guarding any kittehs? If so, are you willing to post pics? I played GW2 as well, still do now and again but am presently taking a bit of a break and playing Elder Scrolls Online and having a ball. AG huh? Pretty cool -- a little over a yr ago I moved to farm country (south Minnesota) from New Orleans, LA. It's a nice change of pace. Land Stewardship is a big thing out here, as you can imagine ^^ Time to offer you some cool aid! lol ......... SoH isn't just a guild in a title; we're a full-on gaming community and play lots of different games. If the game you join us in doesn't fill all of your gaming hungers, poke around on forums or Discord and find some folks who're playing the game you like. Grieve also organizes a 2x monthly game night for any/all SoHers who wish to join. Anyway, once Grieve gives me the go-ahead, I'll alter your forum rank so you can poke around some. He'll have to give you the Discord information for the Cohort. I look forward to gaming with you sometime!
  4. Hi Tomy! Glad you found us \o/ We are a goofy lot and I'm glad that appeals to you, lol. Honestly, the folks that play ESO do so mostly on weekends and some late night as well. I'm fortunate enough to play most days and love grouping with guildies for dungeons and stuff, esp. on weekends ^^ Questions! 1 - Would you rather be hugged (gently) by a black bear, or slip on a banana and slide face first into a pool of wet spaghetti? Why? 2 - Do you believe there is intelligent life elsewhere in the universe? I'm going to change your forum rank to Recruit so you'll have more access to poke around. The in-game MOTD provides our Discord and Mumble details. If you have any problems with either, just shout. I look forward to grouping with you!

  6. Hi there GG! Lovin' the nude -- she looks very like an ex, hehe. SoH is 21+ so you shouldn't have a problem with mature content (I'm 54 ). Oh, check out 5 Dirty Words please -- just to make sure we're all on the same page ^^ Good luck gaming!
  7. Hi there Pants! lol I'm just gonna wave and tell you "welcome" and hope, maybe, I get to game with you some time. Good luck with your education! I almost went the psych route myself, hehe. Good times ^^

    Hi SoH

Hiya Rock! Dog lover, aye? What is your dream dog? My mother in law dreamed of having an Irish Wolf Hound and now she has a Shadow -- 7 ft, 150 lb monster lol. Nice dog, though (thank the stars) ^^ I'm a cat lover myself but have had both an Afghan hound and a Wolf dog (husky mix). The Afghan was named Plato. Very sweet but sadly he was the dumbest animal on the planet -- even fell in a pool, twice! lol Tinker was the wolf/husky mix and while she was very much a 1-person dog, she was gentle and sweet. Currently I have the pleasure of guarding the lives of 3 sibling felines: Chaos, Loki and Luna(tic). About them all I can say is they're well named xD Someone from the FF FC will be along to discuss your specific title; I just thought I'd step in and say "hello." We play lots of different games and I hope you can join us for others along the way (provided they don't muck up your FF gaming ofc!) Cya 'round
  9. Hello Velius, and welcome! You're in luck! We're a RL first guild so families don't suffer ^^ and, luckily enough, we play all of those games (some more than others) as well as many others --- and no one minds if you're not a min-maxer purr-fectionist. Our general vibe is that we want good people in SoH rather than good gamers. You can always learn to be a better gamer (if you wish) but teaching you how to be a good person, well that's a tall order xD Anywho, You may get a few folks stopping by to ask questions, some serious, some very odd -- divulge only that which you're comfortable sharing with internet strangers, lol. We do this as a way to vet temperament and stuff like that. But don't feel like it must be entirely one-sided! Feel free to ask any of us anything! We want you to want to be here and the best way we can do that is to show you who we are. Question! Do you have any pets? Would you be willing to post pics? Why are cats the best possible pet to have? haha, I kid (says the crazy cat lady) Good luck and good gaming!
  10. Thrakker -- I'm happy you found us (extra props for pup pics)!! SoH has been a solid, no-troll gaming community for nearly 14 yrs now. We attract (and keep) the best people. Folks can always learn how to be a better player, but being a good person is far more difficult to teach, hehe. We're not a good fit for everyone; but we're a perfect fit for many! I hope you'll stay long enough to get to know us. And yeah, we play lots of games, too, so if ESO doesn't wag your tail, there may be a group playing something else you like ^^ Anywho -- tell me your eso acct name so I can toss you an invite. And remember to check back here on boards b/c some of our members might stop in to say "hi" and ask the odd question or 2 (and some are very odd, indeed! lol) Share whatever you're willing to share w/ internet strangers and feel free to ask us anything. We do our level best to be transparent and promote good sportsmanship-like behavior. In the meantime, I'll alter your forum rank so you can poke around a bit. Not all of the games we play use forum space (ESO doesn't), but once I invite you to our Cohort (in-game guild) you can pick up the Discord and Mumble info from the MOTD and access our community to inquire about anything. I look forward to playing with you! (I'm usually on daily) -- Simone is our Cohort Leader; he should be by shortly to welcome you.
  11. Ooooo, turtle pics! I can't wait. You don't have Mitch McConnell in a tank do you? haha, I kid. What is your favorite thing to prepare for yourself in the kitchen? What is Franklin's favorite snack? I play ESO almost daily, so I'll definitely see you in game -- I look forward to meeting you! edit: I altered your forum rank to Recruit so you could poke around a bit. We're not using boards for ESO, but there's a lot of other bits and bobs to check out.

    Hey, friends!

Welcome cat daddy! Your furbabies are adorable. It's nice to have you aboard! I hope your tenure with us is long and that you'll play other games with us down the road -- maybe then I'll have a chance to game w/ you. Enjoy!
  13. Hiya -- I have a question.... why are cats the most awesome pet on the planet? ^^ If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make? Looking forward to some adventures!
  14. Hey Agony -- welcome! You will likely have some folks stopping in to ask questions (some very goofy, lol). Share what you're willing to share w/ internet strangers. ^^ For instance, have you any pets? If dogs think they're people, and cats think they're God -- what makes them so fun to watch on youtube? xD Mind posting your acct name so someone can toss you an invite? Simone is our leader; he should be by soon if he hasn't already tackled you! I look forward to getting to know you in game
  15. April 2018: edited for content to expand the evolutionary process
  16. As of this post, SoH has enjoyed nearly 14 yrs as a multi-game community. We've gone from a small nomadic tribe of game-hoppers, to a large, well-organized group with sizeable Chapters in multiple games. Our history is extensive and you can read about early organization here and here. Since we’re matured as people and as players, and gaming has changed so much, we’ve reimagined the guild, its structure, and our overall approach to gaming. While our definition of “Chapter” remains relatively unchanged (i.e., overall size of group playing, the title itself and how it fits with the SoH ethos, number of Veterans involved, and a time commitment from a vetted Lead), we’ve added the option of forming a Cohort, which is more flexible and more casual. In truth, a formal “Chapter” may no longer be in the offing given the changing scape of gaming. Thus, at least for now, the Cohort will be our primary focus herein. The requirements for Cohort are as follows: Requires at least 3 Veterans to be present and playing; One of these Veterans must come forward to serve as Game Officer, whose responsibilities include: a) Pitching an initial proposal and once approved, requesting communication services; b) acting as liaison between those playing the game and the Leadership Council; and c) Ensuring that the overall experience of those playing the game is consistent with the high standards of South of Heaven. Recruiting will be allowed, as well as the use of the SoH tag. Recruits must be vetted and show an obvious level of investment in SoH prior to promotion to Member via our revised 2-Vet vote system. How to handle multi-guild membership is left up to the discretion of the Chapter or Cohort. Our general consensus has been that, as long as your activity and conduct justify continued membership in our guild, we don't mind if you also belong to other guilds. Note: if someone decides to quit SoH to join another guild, that is a separate matter. How to handle multi-Chapter/Cohort participation is also left to their discretion, with a single, salient proviso: there should be no discernible negative impact on either/any group. Players are responsible for keeping their commitments.
  17. Hello and welcome! I do love the name and was whizzed back in time when you mentioned AOL, lol ^^
  18. Hello and welcome! I'm looking forward to continued dungeoning with you! lol (shout of you need a hand w/ anything)
  19. Hiya! My question is more utilitarian, lol -- what's your ESO acct name? ^^ Also, bit of friendly advice! Use the same name (Jorion) for both Discord and Mumble -- it will make life a LOT easier!
  20. March 2018 Ashin, Fera, Midri, Darlantan, Huntyre, Tyrlis and the inimitable Rohj Last week I quietly placed this list here but as Ashin has said, a bit of fanfare is needed! And he's right. For SoH, creating and installing the Leadership Council is a wide departure in governance, and it is an auspicious change, indeed. Earlier this year, we recognized that the guild was at a crucial turning point: the landscape of gaming had changed drastically, fewer "big title" MMOs were in the offing, and for the first time in many years we were facing the possibility of not having an active Chapter in a massive multi-player RPG. This drove Ashin and I to assemble a group of our most trusted advisers, including past and present Chapter Leads, to help us re-imagine our gaming community. As a result of our conversation on the future of SoH and its need for growth across gaming platforms, the Cohort (a smaller, more casual group of players) was born. In light of this flexibility and on the growing time constraints on leadership, we realized we needed to establish a formal steering committee and that we had the perfect group right in front of us! Thus, the Leadership Council was founded as a way to govern more effectively, to promote leaders, and to ensure continuity for future generations of SoH gamers.
  21. With our new Cohort instillation in its early stages, I thought it prudent to give everyone a quick update on some of the behind-the-scenes goings on. Some (or many!) may have questions. Please feel free to ask them here, but also, please be patient ^^ Several of our policies are in need of updating and are currently being worked on now. They will be reviewed and pinned in as timely a fashion as possible. The SoH roster requires updating and purging. Some of this has recently been accomplished and notably, many of our Ghosts are now ranked Veteran and will remain so until we decide on whether or not there will be any ongoing qualifications. This rank change is typified by either current activity in a Cohort, recent activity in a Chapter, or present and obvious engagement w/ the larger gaming community (on boards &/or Discord). If you think you've been overlooked, or that something has gone awry, please PM me on boards or Discord and I will address it at my earliest possible convenience. Pease note that not ALL of our Ghosts have had their ranks changed to Veteran. Some will become Members, while others who have been absent for a long time may even be purged. ** Please take a moment to check your forum rank. If you are of Veteran rank, please take note of the Veterans' Lounge (in Guild Affairs), stop in -- and more importantly, be aware that our Game Officers are counting on you to visit Recruit Intro posts, say "hi" and engage w/ them on some level if at all possible. They may become a part of our growing family and it's up to you to help us help them to feel welcome. Discord users should keep an eye out for these newer folks and answer questions, etc. You know the score! You were new once, too ^^ Ashin may have additional bits to add, but until he's available, you can rely on the LC to do our best!
  22. Hi there and welcome! In my head I've already started calling you "Razz" lol -- I hope you don't mind! Instead of questions, I'm just gonna leave you with a quote I picked up from ESO (haha, I'm a complete dork): If you avoid all of life's abrasions, you'll never be polished enough to shine. I, too, am CST, having moved from New Orleans, LA to Minnesota (damn near a straight line too) just over a year ago. I tend to play during the day a good bit. I look forward to gaming w/ you!

For her established tenure and commendable service to South of Heaven, I'm delighted to announce that Midri is being promoted to the rank of Founder -- a title held by only 2 others: Ashin - our creator in chief, and myself. We agree that she's more than earned it! This rank may be awarded to those Veterans, like Midri, who've stepped up and taken on the mantle of Chapter Lead and created a dynamic and successful gaming environment for a large group of gamers. In Midri's case, she stepped up to save the FF14 Chapter when the previous leader suddenly stepped down, and subsequently grew it to be the most enduring Chapter in the guild's 13-year history. Prior to FF14, Midri was a pivotal member of our storied WoW Raiding Chapter, where she assisted with recruitment and leadership for a highly demanding team. She is also a damned good healer!
  24. Welcome! We're thrilled that you’re considering SoH as a homebase for your gaming needs. We understand that joining a new guild can be both exhilarating and a bit daunting, especially given our many year tenure as a guild and the broad cross section of games we play, but no worries! We're here to help. It's important to note that not every guild is a good fit for every player. We welcome and embrace like-minded gamers and acknowledge that SoH isn't a home for everyone. So, if what follows isn’t natural to your way of thinking/behaving, then please contact a Game Officer. (Reading and signing our Code of Conduct is a solid first step towards Membership!) During the recruitment period (roughly 2 weeks), we want to get to know you and for you to know us. Essentially, we'd like for you to move from stranger to friend. The following are opportunities for all of us -- please make use of them! Forums! We love our forums, and we use this platform to provide a variety of information to our community, especially things that aren't suited to a quick post on Discord. You'll find relevant details on Guild Policies, on your Cohort's Policies (if any exist!), links to useful sites for that title, to Cooking, Gaming, Fitness, and a host of things in between. There's something for everyone! (Some sections will be unavailable until you reach Member to protect privacy). We are very active on Discord. The #social channel is a great place to interact with guild members throughout the standard work day, even those not currently involved in your Cohort. Of course, Discord also provides a platform for you to receive notifications for activities that are happening in-game. Mumble -- Yep, we still use this! We do have Discord channels, yes, but membership often gravitates to Mumble for much of our VoiP needs. Details can be found here. In-game guild activity & guild chat. While the Cohort you're in may be a smaller, casual version of our larger community, and guild group "runs" infrequent, do your best to make yourself known by using g/chat. Ask for help if you need a hand; or, offer a hand if someone needs help. Continuity! Please make your name on our forums, Discord and Mumble identical. We do not have in-house IT folks so, while we love our comms, they are not integrated at all. Thus, we ask your help to make sure we can recognize you in whatever medium we are conversing. As a guild that continues to be close-knit, one whose membership and leadership hold each other to high social, moral, and gaming standards, we want for you to want to be here -- and to exert the necessary effort to make that happen. The point of our poking and prodding and goofy question-asking is to get to know you; please feel free to reciprocate and get to know us, too. We don't want you to arbitrarily commit to us just because we're playing the same game. We're more than pixels to each other and we want you to be as well. * You must be invited to join an active Chapter/Cohort by a Veteran SoH player. At this time there are no invitation privileges afforded to those who are not engaged in play activity with current SoH Members/Vets.

    Hello,

Hi Barry -- welcome! We're delighted to have you aboard. I've only been playing just over a month now and have found complete immersion to be very easy, indeed. I'm not much for pugging but thoroughly enjoy grouping with guildies. What class is your favorite to play? I've altered your forum rank to Recruit so you can poke around a bit more. When you log in to ESO, check the MOTD for our social media stuffs -- please use "BarryC" when joining Discord and Mumble so we can quickly identify you as you! lol I'll cya in game!
