[FFXIV] Introducing a Pleb

Hello everyone!

My name is Tim, and I'm trialing as caster for Team Ruby on FFXIV. My name in game is Pleb Eian, and I promise that the name is not indicative of my skill level (I think..). I wasn't a big gamer until a couple of years ago when I decided to try out FFXIV. Coming from a southern, mega conservative family I had some pretty crazy misconceptions about gaming (MMOs in particular). What really blew my mind was just how well you can get to know someone even through the veil of internet anonymity.

So to pierce the veil a bit more, I'm 24 years old. I currently manage my family's Memphis area businesses. I love music (classical, jazz, house, and hip hop in particular), I play piano.. and I hope to get to know you all in the future.

Thanks for taking the time to read!

Can we explore your misconceptions?  More importantly, were they formed as your entire family sat on a porch drinking mint juleps and saying things like "why, I do declare it is hot today" while gently fanning yourselves?

Have you been to Graceland?  How is your Elvis impersonation?  What is your go-to karaoke song?

Why isn't country on your music list?  Can you two step? Line dance?  Own a cowboy hat?

Since you play the piano, do you have an annoying affection for Billy Joel?

Do you have strong opinions on BBQ?

Who are your hip hop artists of choice?  If someone gave you a grill, free of charge, would you wear it?

Welcome!

Thanks everyone! To answer your questions..

Not very far off the mark about my family. I come from a pretty stereotypical old southern family. Going to the Cotillion dance, legacy fraternity/sorority, baptist, etc.. I pretty much only played games like Madden and Call of Duty. Anything like FFXIV was immediately seen as what WoW is typically thought of. You know the guy on the south park wow episode. However the south does seem to be a lot more accepting of things they don't understand (well, not in all things).

I've been to Graceland many times. It's worth experiencing, but a rip off in my opinion. My elvis impersonation blows. Go to karaoke song is Bohemian Rhapsody.

Even though I'm from the south, I despise country music. Like if someone tries to play it in my house or car.. they never try again. There's just something about the music that's mind blowingly shitty to me. Unfortunately I can line dance..

Billy Joel is okay, I'm more of a sucker for classical music.

Memphis BBQ is obviously the best. Worth experiencing at least 100 times in your life.

Even though there are some hip hop artists that are really lyrically talented, my love for the music comes from what the producers do. You know when you hear that perfect blend of rhythm and harmony and your head just moves of it's own accord? Yeah, that's what I like about it. I will say that Lil Dicky is hilarious.

Omg yesssssssssssssssssssssssssss Cotillions!  How many girls have you escorted into society?!

Are you suggesting that you've killed someone for playing Achy Breaky Heart in your car?

Can you do the boot scootin' boogie?  Or, what line dance is your specialty?  Can you square dance as well?  Can you do the full call from Hillbilly Hare?

At least you answered the Billy Joel question almost correctly.  What are your top 3 classical pieces?
