[EVE] The Endless Game

Hi all,

I've been a gamer for almost as long as I can remember. I was fortunate enough to have easy access to a computer at a very young age so I'm a PC gamer at heart. The first game I can remember falling in love with was a turn based strategy game by Red Orb Entertainment called Warlords 3. Ever since then I've always spent the majority of my free time playing games. I can't imagine not playing games. Strategy games tend to be my favorite.

EVE has always fascinated me but since it required a monthly fee to play I was not in a good enough position financially until about 5 years ago to play. EVE was part of one of the steam sales in 2010 so I decided it was a good time to jump in. I liked the game but I was about to graduate and needed to focus on getting a job and moving so I quit. About 3 years later I found out some friends I met back in middle school played and decided to pick it up again and joined their small corp. The corp ended up not being very active so I quit EVE again.

It has been two or so years since I last played EVE and I still get the urge to play every once in a while. It's like that itch you get that just won't go away until you scratch it, so I'm jumping into EVE for the third time.

Hi there Ronran and welcome back to the game.

I can actually relate to what you're saying - this is my third time really playing EVE also.  It seems like each time I came back, I was able to get further into the game and appreciate it more.

I don't think I recognize your name - were you one of the posts I replied to on reddit?  Can you talk a little about your character - what's he/she set up to do?  What about our post caught your interest, and what are you looking to get out of EVE this time around?

Cheers.

Ronran! Thanks for posting your app, sorry it took me so long to respond. Like Ashin, this is my 3rd time subbing to EVE, and it hooked me good. We hit a year in December...

What are your favorite strategy games? Are you a more methodical Civ/CK2 kind of guy? Or do you yearn for the intense, constant clicking of SC2?

What is your degree in? Were you able to find work in that field?

Lastly, what's your favorite method of consuming caffeine? Intravenously IS an option.

I didn't reply to the reddit post but it is what prompted me to apply. What caught my attention was that you guys were interested in PVP and had other new players. Even though I've played EVE on 3 separate occasions they were not very long so I still consider myself a pretty new player. Most of my time spent in EVE so far as been doing random missions that involve blowing up NPCs so my character is skilled pretty heavily(as skilled as you can be with only about 4k SP) towards combat, particularly missiles.

Welcome to the forums! :) It was nice to meet you yesterday.

I enjoyed meeting you as well. I'm glad to hear your 0.0 experience has been positive. When I first got into EVE I was a bit scared to venture into low and null sec. To this day I don't think i've been in anything less than 0.5.

My favorite strategy game would have to be SC2. I'm really looking forward to the LOTV expansion coming out next month. I like both types of games but I tend to play more real time ones than turn based.

My degree is in computer science. I live in TX which has quite a large tech scene so it was not hard finding a job.

My favorite method of consuming caffeine would have to be coffee and RedBull. Coffee in the morning and RedBull for the rest of the day  :)

And with that you've passed the first test. That wasn't hard, right?  :)

I'm going to upgrade your forum account to Recruit and send you an invite in-game. That will allow you to view our EVE forums and the information overload they represent. Let me point out some highlights...

 - Our guild has pretty high standards of behavior and conduct. Please read the Code of Conduct and post your understanding so we know you've read it.

 - The EVE Online Chapter Policy forums has a pile of information about how our corp operates in EVE. Of particular importance, here are instructions for joining our in-game chat channel and here is an explanation of our in-game rank structure.

 - Since you're still relatively new to EVE, also peruse our Reference forums which are chock full of information that will help you handle that learning curve. Take as long as you like in hi-sec before accepting the corp invite and coming out to null, it's a big transition and it's better if you're ready. But if you want to jump in, you can register for the NAGA TS3 once you've joined the corp, that's where we are most of the time.  :)

Some of us have limited playtime, so we use the forums a lot to discuss happenings in the game and plans for once we're actually able to log on. I'll be sending you a PM soon with even MORE words to read.
