Thanks for taking the time to talk with me in SOHCO pub.

It had a lot to do with me making the decision to pursue membership.

Hope things work out, and look forward to flying with you!

Glad to have you onboard brother. We'll do a celebratory roam when you're ready. Pick a ship you want to fly and die in.

  2. My first gaming community, The Midnight Reveries, has a few people firing up on Ebonhawk as well. IMO Star Wars had the best BG style PvP. The maps were designed with class abilities in mind. Some people hate the place but I could do hutball alllllll day.

  3. Yea, my guess is we'll see a prevalence of armor tanked T3 links. Tank modules will require tradeoffs with the command processors. Large scale this won't matter as much because you can just devote logi to your link ship.

Small gang things will shift slightly but with people having invested toons into links a new method will emerge.

  4.

I agree for all but one point.

Prior to the Svipul coming out my corp frequently fielded Thrashers. With the Svipul's release, the Thrasher is completely overshadowed unless you are seriously strapped for cash. When fully stocked I typically have four uniquely fit Svipuls in my hangar. What's sad is most can handle all of the same fights.  They are simply designed to have an edge in certain encounters.  I used to have a clip of my double armor rep Svipul soloing a Caracal and Rapier. That's two RLML cruisers with web support. No links or drugs involved. The engagement profile begs the question "why fly anything else?".  Even bling fitting a Svipul lands it under the price of a HAC.

RLMLs do need a change. As it stands I cannot take any of my frigate options on a roam because RLMLs are everywhere. I can potentially tank one Caracal but anything else and you vaporize within about a 50km sphere of the Caracal.  The Orthrus is even worse because now you have to make sure your cruiser doesn't get caught by the anti-frigate platform.  Again it's the issue of having an incredibly wide engagement profile. This isn't healthy for anyone because, due to it's power, many roamers choose the Orthrus. This prevents potential fights because who really wants to chase down an Orthrus while wading through ridiculous amounts of damage to get hit with a scram at 20km?

If a ship enters your system and the best counter is a better fit/skilled version of the same ship then there's potentially a balance issue.

Offgrid links are long overdue for a change. Nothing new there. I don't worry much about remote sebo setups because I already have to account for Svipuls when in small sig radius hulls. Anything larger and a dedicated camp will catch me regardless.

  5. Sure here's a screenshot from EFT:

This builds on a foundation I have for X-Large Ancil Boosted tanks.  You can change out the resist mods for a shield boost amp to get near same results. I have ECCM fit because the day prior there was a Falcon around our system and I left it up in case Ragma (the cloaky hunter) brought one through the cyno.  I made sure to fit a Nosferatu so I could continue to run my tackle and shield hardeners under what I planned would be intense capacitor warfare.

I actually recorded the fight and will upload it once I can get a few more clips.  If you watch it you'll notice I'm having to spam my modules to use up the cap the NOS brings in before the Sin and Tengu drains it out. Close fight, I ended up at 14% armor when the Sin popped. I didn't take a blue pill until late into the fight. It would have made it not even close if I took it right off the bat.

As far as getting him to engage- the hunter Ragma attempted to BLOPs drop my Typhoon last week but messed up tackle.  After that point whenever I knew he was active (he AFK cloaks) I would bounce from gates to station to look innocent. A Raven is typically a juicy PvE target and it was just a matter of time. He actually dropped onto me when I was on station.  Last check of his KB before I baited gave me two important pieces of intel: first, the Sin pilot/last Sin lossmail: https://zkillboard.com/kill/50725187/ and second, the fact that midday EST he typically only drops with the Sin whereas in the evening he drops the Sin plus friends. It being midday meant I had a good chance of only getting hit by the Sin.

  6. Scynner- All good, I'd imagine the next week or so everyone will be busy. I'll be off and on until the 23rd then I head to visit the inlaws for about a week. Thanks for the props on the name. I think when I created it I had Indiana Jones on in the background.

Rohj- Thanks! Maybe I can figure out a time to meet up with you guys for a roam.  Favorite animal is probably a wolf mainly because I like that they rely on a combination of tactics and stamina to exhaust their prey. And I'm going to have to go with stone.

  7. Inedit- Strongbow is excellent. Another good one is Mckenzies.

Ashin- I'm in Alexandria and work in Arlington.

Kytn- Thanks! Good to meet everyone.

Tyrlis- Yea man glad we could link up. I'll be around later this evening but I'll be on sporadically the rest of the weekend. If I were to move forward with the app my main priority is figuring out the corp asset situation.  I can understand if you don't want me to maintain an alt in PFR for the long term. With that in mind I'd have to clear out my corp hangars and dedicate it to one of my toons. Not a huge deal because my buds can always get a hold of me but we operated on a community war chest system. I don't want to add unneccesary hurdles for them if they need access. For now if you want I can pass API info so you can do your preliminary checks while we continue to chat/work through recruitment.

  8. Hah, I work in an office so the knife hand doesn't come out too often. Typically it only shows up if I'm chasing someone down or just messing with someone.  My position would be "direst of circumstances" if we're talking real no-shit knife hand action.

Drink of choice is typically beer. For those in NOVA it's hard to beat Devils Backbone Vienna Lager. My wife prefers cider so Strongbow is usually in the rotation as well.

Game wise I typically stay pretty loyal to whatever I'm playing at the time. Outside of Eve and WoW I've sunk a bit of time into D3, AA, SWTOR and the Fallout series.

  9. Sure, I guess my first post didn't say much about my toon aside from wanting to find a new corp.  I focus almost entirely on PvP, most of which is solo to micro-gang and have FC experience.  I've spent the majority of my time in null sec, but have fought in FW space as well as spent a short stint in WH space.  Currently my corp is in PFR, a great alliance to be a part of. However, upon returning I'm looking for something different. Our corp was mainly my friends and I but with them taking a break I'd prefer to join someone else's operation.  As far as PFR goes, again great group of guys but a lot of people hang out in 4-C and wait for people to come knocking at the front door.  There are good fights to be had but large Caracal blobs typically aren't my style.

In finding a new corp I'd like to meet pilots who are interested in learning PvP. I feel small group PvP creates better all-around pilots rather than F1 jockeys for the front line.  If a pilot can think for themselves in a small gang they are able to function during the chaos of a large fleet op as well. Currently I maintain freedom regarding PvP and I'd like to continue to do so in a new home.  For example, on occasion gate camps deserve a Golem busting into them.  After fielding expensive ships a bit I'll eventually lose them.  In my opinion, loss is what makes Eve great and if you never risk assets then you're robbing yourself of the pure experience.  I'm looking for a corp with like minded individuals who won't get bent out of shape over losses.  With that in mind I'd promise to add plenty of green to the boards too.

For more specific information about my toon I've linked my Eveboard and killboard information below:

Ship wise you'll see that I can fly almost anything subcap aside from command ships (~14 days away do to leadership training) and T2 logi (not interested in flying, if we need utility I provide recon V in all races).  Lately I prefer large tanky ships when I roam because it's fun fighting outnumbered.

As a hobby I enjoy recording some of my games and posting them. I've been back in WoW lately doing arenas which I don't find video worthy so I haven't recorded in a while. Returning to Eve allows me to hop back into Sony Vegas.

I'll stop there for now with the wall of text. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

  10. Greetings SOHCO.  I was browsing /evejobs earlier today and your recruitment post caught my eye.  I'm considering a return to Eve and wanted to start shopping for corps to see what's around.  Currently, I'm a CEO of my own corp, Waves of Aegir, which I ran with two buds from our own gaming community.  We all took a step back from New Eden a couple months back after my guys burnt out on their moon endeavors.  Right now they are still focusing on WoW in prep for Legion but I wanted to fire Eve back up.

I'm wanting to move my main, Caldari Joans, into a new pvp corp in null.  Ideally the corp would be a small, mature, and close-knit crew.  So far your posts and Blades' philosophy seem to line up with that.

If interested in chatting I can respond here as well as your public channel when I'm online. Thanks.
