  1. If you want to buy mine: yes, you'd have to create a new bnet account that I would then tell Blizzard to transfer my virgin key to directly.

If you want to buy Proof's: you'd be buying his account in it's entirety, therefore his name, ID, characters, etc.

  2. Spending tons of gold on IAS items is bad enough as is, but real money? I'm not sure how this is gonna play out, but there are definitely going to be some pissed off people.

It'll be interesting, and I'm curious as to how it will play out... especially with Korea, Germany, and France (and let's face it.. the EU in it's entirety if Germany/France are pissed enough).

  3. These are generally accurate, but still unofficial as of now:

    http://d3db.com/news...tes-unofficial/

    Combat

    • Frenzied shrines have been updated to no longer provide a crit bonus.
    • Siegebreaker, Zoltun Kulle and Belial now have enrage timers and a new ability when they are enraged.

    Items

    • The attack speed affix has been reduced significantly on all items. The following list outlines all of the previous values and new values for each affix level. This should give you a rough idea of how much IAS you should expect to lose.
UPDATE: IAS on Quivers appears to be unchanged, I checked a few (including Dead Man's Legacy) and they retained their pre 1.0.3 values.

    Crafting

    • Jeweler
      • Crafting fees for the following gems have been updated, in addition, the following combines only require 2 gems (down from 3). The crafting fees and gem requirements for levels above Flawless Square were not changed.
        • Flawless Square: 100g (previously 20,000g)
        • Square: 85g (previously 7,500g)
        • Radiant: 70g (previously 3,500g)
        • Perfect: 55g (previously 2,000g)
        • Flawless: 40g (previously 1,250g)
        • Normal: 25g (previously 750g)
        • Flawed: 10g (previously 500g)

I'm pretty happy with myself for never actually combining any gems and just using what I had available to me.

  4. I have an extra key I wanna sell and I thought I'd offer it up to SoH first. It's the original digital version I bought before upgrading to the CE. Blizzard have offered me the choice of giving me a new key, or simply applying it to any existing bnet account (they didn't specify that it had to be an account under my name) I choose, so if someone here wants the game, or knows someone who would, I'm selling it for $45.

Twin if you prefer this be in another forum, or something, please move it. I wasn't sure what your feeling on posting this here was, but as far as I can tell this isn't frowned upon by Blizzard and there's nothing wrong with me selling the key.

  5. I don't have that reaction to it at all (I actually go out of my way to crush them sometimes) but I know what it's like to have one of those sounds you just can't stand, and if it were a part of a game I actively play it'd be driving me absolutely bonkers. That's awful, and I'm truly sorry you have to play with that!

(I have it with nail files, I can't tolerate that sound at all. I lose my mind. I can hear it from really far away too, so my gf has just agreed to never do it when I'm here/awake)

  6. I saw a screencap yesterday of someone who sold an item for $99.99.

A lot of people have been selling items for $100+ on another board I read. Many have gone for $200+ and quite a few up to (and even beyond, on D2JSP) the $250 max. It's calmed down a bit now as compared to the first day of craziness, but some still will. Understanding what sells is very easy, too... you just have to be lucky on the roll.

Something like this will sell for $200+, for sure:

    All Resist

  7. France and Germany got in on this action too... though I think it's a bit different.

Germany issued a cease and desist about false advertisement. Something about the box says "requires an internet connection" but doesn't specify needing to be constantly connected to their servers. A lot of people were complaining and they consumer agencies stepped in.

A lot of people have asked for/received refunds. Apparently they try to fight it, but if you push enough you actually will be refunded for a physical copy, even in North America. I tried to get my digital copy refunded since it's been overwritten with a CE anyway, but they wouldn't bite. They did offer to issue me a new key though, so I'll sell that I guess.

  8. I do want to say that for me this really does go beyond a D2 to D3 comparison, because a game I loved as much as (if not more than) D2 was Titan Quest, and my last play-through of that was less than 6 months ago. It's safe to say I will play it again before it's spiritual successor is released in Grim Dawn. It's graphics are dated, but very tolerable compared to D2. I really do just love ARPG's in general. I don't mind if the story is sub-par, all I want is crisp quick game-play with fun skills, interesting mobs, a decent soundtrack and a visually appealing and immersing variety of landscapes. The most important of all? Phat lewtz that occasionally drop and not only look awesome, but upgrade your character as well. D3 has most of that (though the world isn't all that appealing to me, but that's irrelevant), but it really really really is lacking in the lewtz department, and in any real reason to continue playing after 60. I know this is hard to accept as an argument, but it really just doesn't feel right. You'll see a lot of people saying that, and it's just true to many of us. I've been sitting here trying to figure out how to describe why, and I've got some good ideas on that, but it's just not really worth laying out.

I WANT to grind for loot, I really do. My loot-grinder itch has not been scratched. I'll play Torchlight 2, and I'll play TQ again too. I'll definitely play Grim Dawn (I was a kickstarter backer), and I'll probably give both Path of Exile and R.A.W. a trial run when they release as well. I really wanted D3 to be my game, but it just isn't. Not now, not yet. I'm very hopeful for 1.03 and I'm not quite ready to write off the money and time invested so far just yet, so I'm sticking around for that. Actual decent 60+ loot dropping more than once in a blue moon, and inferno 2+ being anything other than tedious and just something you do for sake of completion would go a LONG way into making the gripes disappear, and it would be easy to overlook the other things people can disagree with (like the constantly online requirement, the AH, the RMAH, lack of skill points, etc etc.).

As to the quotes from Schaefer, they're all great. especially this: " I think it looks great and plays great! I had a fun time playing it. I haven’t really had enough time to play it because we’re obviously busy, but of what I have played I did enjoy." because that's exactly how I felt before I had played it a lot, too. 150+ hours in and my tune has changed completely. I'd love to see his opinion with 2 inferno chars in the current state of the game. All that said, I DID play for over 150 hours, and though a huge part of that is me just having a TON of free time, it's also because I enjoyed myself for large periods of that. That's more time than I invested in Skyrim or Mass Effect 3, and I don't bitch about those games! So yeah, compared to that? Satisfying and worth the money spent. Compared to games like D2 and TQ that you played through, and then revisited multiple times over the years? Not even close.

And I'm sorry if this appears overly negative. It's not what I intended and I had decided I'd just not post about D3 anymore since it's impossible for me to do so without expressing some degree of disappointment. I really don't want people who are enjoying the game to think I'm coming in here and pooping all over their party. Let's face it... I played the game for the equivalent of 6 full days. You don't do that with something horrible.

  9. I think there's just a huge difference in perspective from those who have a history of playing and loving ARPG's, especially those of who actually played a lot of D2, as compared to those who haven't and didn't.

Both sides can co-exist and both be correct. It's way too easy (and just wrong) to say that we're all nostalgic whiny old gamers who have evolved and didn't realize it.

Unrealistic expectations? Sure. Some overblown nostalgia? Sure. Does D3 have huge flaws that could/should be fixed? Yep.

That said, 1.03 looks to be a step in the right direction and I'm eager to see what it provides.

  10. $4.

I posted the best items from my two 60's at pretty low prices equal to the total of what the game cost me but nothing sold. It was a coin flip thing for me. I was hoping they'd either all sell (and I'd recoup game cost and call it quits) or none would sell (and I'd wait for 1.03 and see how that works out) but I was definitely hoping that it wouldn't be middle ground. Option B it is!

Edit: This has also led me to realize that in my 150+ hours of total playtime I have gotten a grand total of 0 great items. This is not a knock on the game or my luck, simply an interesting factoid.

  11. I can't speak for everyone, but I simply can't play D2 anymore due to it's dated graphics. I'd bet money a lot of people would be back in D2 after having tried D3 if the graphics were the same.

    Anyway, dat 1.03.

  12. I lost a lot of enjoyment after playing through act 1 nightmare on my monk. I just didn't enjoy the story the second time around, and on top of that. The monk is fairly boring compared to other classes. That being said, I went and found a fan patched version of The Elder Scrolls 2 Daggerfall, even with all its shortcomings. (believe me, there are a lot.) I can still play that game after 12 years and get enjoyment out of it. I think it goes to show, (at least for me) pretty graphics and addicting game play don't cut it if the story falls flat and you have nothing to do after it finishes. IMO Diablo 3 is a very fun game, but its not something I want to play 4 times in a row, on 4 different characters.

My problem is that I still need pretty decent graphics, lol. I can definitely find more enjoyment out of past games than newer ones, but there's only so far back I can go before the visuals affect my enjoyment.

    I wish it weren't so!

But I know what you mean about D3. It's fun, but end-game is tedious and like Kripp's indicating, there's not much of a reason to keep doing it. I have no desire to make more chars in it's current form.

  13. I guess at this point I'm waiting to see if there's a rollback for the AH dupe, and then probably farming gold until 1.03.

If not, I think it's either a HC character past 20, or an attempt at a full 1-60 with no AH use like Ashin. Or TL2.

  14. I ran that a bit earlier tonight... did 15 runs and got 3 goblins. Did they nerf it? It takes me about 5-10 minutes total depending on where it is, if it's there. When I did it on my monk a while back it appeared way more often in the runs I did. I couldn't kill it at all, but I know it showed up more often.

  15. Are 5 NV butcher runs worth investing time into? I find the butcher exceedingly easy on my DH (first attempt got me the 2 minute achievement) and getting up to a stack of 5 NV isn't that hard either...

  16. My DH is 55 now, and I've been saving up moneez. Really looking forward to seeing how it does in Inferno, hopefully pre-nerf, so I can compare it to the monk directly.

I see a lot of people recommending total glass cannon builds for inferno farming. People with like 15k hp but TONS of damage. Any of you try that? I guess the logic is that if you're gonna be one-shot anyway, may as well master avoiding everything and just be able to pump out insane damage... not sure how much that'd suit my play-style, nor how logical it will be with the changes they're making now.

  17. I do not use MoH at all, I use conviction. I will post my build when I get home, and so far I have had no issues at all up to act 4 hell. Again I use a daibo, not DW, so I do not k ow how it works with s/b or DW, but it works very well with a good daibo.

Huge differences in how you can spec between latter acts of Hell and Inferno. Unless you have *really* good gear with tons of resist all, you basically have to use One With All, and MoH+Time of Need. Anything molten, plagued etc. will just drop you instantly otherwise. We don't have the DPS or range required to beat those down without being able to take at least a few seconds of that damage (pre/post serenity) and that's impossible without resists in the 500's really. Prior to inferno I'd go periods without using MoH, and when I did use it, it was for circular breathing's spirit regen more than anything.

  18. The attack speed nerf probably has to do with ppl gearing really high AS and LoH. I assume they're not pleased with the videos of characters basically staying at full health and constantly just healing themselves while killing Diablo Inferno.

The rest looks good to me... and I'm happy they're acknowledging that being forced into a defensive kiting style for melee in Act II+ inferno is boring. We'll see how it plays out in reality, but on paper I'm pleased with the proposed fix. I never wanted inferno handed to me, and I'm totally fine with having to go defensive for a bit to venture into a new area and then eventually gear myself up towards a more offensive play-style. It seems like they're not going knee-jerk, and that's a good thing.

  19. I don't know about Barbs, but monks in inferno Act II + are just tedious to play for long periods of time. I'm still looking forward to it on the DH, though. Same kiting but with 5x the DPS should be interesting.

I need my phat lewts fix. I've yet to get a drop for my current character that made me go "sweet!" and I truly do miss those moments. It's why I play these games. Hopefully I can get some of that with the DH in Act II/III inferno.
