You people are too young...my favorites will always be those games that hooked me on gaming in general. Here goes, with visual aides to boot!
When we first moved in together, all he had was a Commodore 64, which meant M.U.L.E! Absolutely amazing game that I still play today. In the end gameplay is what counts, and this was/is a perfect economic/exploration sim.

Then there were the Gold Box games; Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret o the Silver Blades, and Pools of Darkness! These were the games that got me into roleplaying and the fantasy genre. Absolutely amazing stories and flawless gameplay.
SSI also came out with my favorite wargame of all time in "War of the Lance", set in the Dragonlance universe!
Then came Diablo! I still think the first Diablo was better than #2 for so many reasons, and I can remember us staying up for hours just making corpse runs at 6 in the am.
The greatest MMO was easily DAoC, the one that took my MMO virginity. Still can't believe that the same folks who created this masterpiece messed up WAR so badly.

Plenty of other great games on the list, but the above will always be "THE" games for me.

Yep, to clarify, I have zero idea what goes on between Zyco and Ashin. I was referring to the fact that they haven't been playing the same game for quite some time, so the actual impact on the guild or any of the people involved is minor at best.
I understand completely that you have to defend him, as you have a personal stake, but for him to make such wildly idiotic statements insulting someone he has no contact with was just really strange. The fact that he doesn't even understand what he did wrong is even more pathetic imo.
I have no frame of reference to understand where you are coming from, as I don't associate with people who find such conversations acceptable.
Ashin is nowhere near perfect either, but to try to spin this into being his fault is laughable. Are you honestly implying that Ashin pushed Zyco into saying what he did? Anyhoo, your loyalty is commendable.

If you honestly don't know what is wrong with your statement, I don't think anyone here could explain it to you. If you thought it was funny, I guess that is something you need to work out for yourself.

I think that you are not happy unless you are showing your power trip over someone and making it out like you are king of the world. Let me tell you something you might not know already you arent. Surprise!!! You just screwed up by having this thing with Zyco. He is right when he says that you chase everyone out. So now you delete this. Because we all know you dont like people going against you.
I dunno. If I were a Guild Leader(guffaw), I would kick anyone who made such an ignorant, bigoted statement on a guild forum, regardless of their status.
It is fine if you want to harbor such ridiculous xenophobic feelings towards an entire group of people, but please refrain from forcing other people to read/listen to it. An excellent chance for the ole "Don't ask, don't tell." policy.
Zyco was even given a chance to retract or apologize for his idiocy, and instead chose to reaffirm it by stating it over and over again.
In the end, everyone will survive. This is purely cosmetic, as there was really no working relationship present anyhoo.

You have never ever seen me swear. Ever. People freak out if I utter even the mildest of profanities in real life and I certainly have never typed one. I do know my way around sexual topics though and know where to find the occasional explicit pic or two, so I will assume that is what you mean!
Seriously though, I take zero offense to people thinking I am a boy. I prolly would too. You will never see me correct someone who calls me "he" in-game, and I will never type /giggle, say "tee hee", or ask for much of anything.
After my naive DAoC days and having to deal with the horrors of seemingly being the only female in vent at all times, I will never go back. The vast majority of men playing MMOs at that time were socially awkward or downright offensive, and I can honestly tell you it has only slightly improved. Can you imagine being a female in a guild like <LOST> from Warhammer? That is what it was like in those days for me. The other veteran female gamers in SoH prolly have their own horror stories to share from other games and guilds.
I applied to SoH based solely on Ashin's behavior in /alliance chat and the fact that you were LGBT friendly. Any guild that advertises that fact was almost guaranteed to be more mature than the vast majority of guilds, and it proved itself to be true.
Anyhoo, this was not supposed to be a novel. Just be proud of what you have here in SoH even if, as a straight male, you don't truly understand it. :_wub:

Eh, while that is sometimes true, I have found that there is a definite % of female gamers who absolutely eat up the attention of males and will try to take advantage of it. You will hear them giggling in vent and playing up their naivete. They make these games absolute HELL for normal females, because guys get a really skewed idea of what is acceptable. These are the stalker/unbalanced-types that you see all female gamers portrayed as in the movies/news/T.V.
I compare it to the girls at a party or club who have to keep saying "I am sooo drunk right now" over and over again when you know they have only had one wine cooler. Silly skanks craving sexual affirmation.
Best just to pull a Lady Gaga and leave em guessing imo. Standard guys are not going to get too fresh if they think you might be pulling off a penis tuck.

Though seriously, it is VERY easy to get software that emulates a girl's voice over vent. Heck, you could play a convincing Cobra Commander(The original) or Optimus Prime if you so choose.
On a more serious note, SoH is very female-friendly. The fact that you even know I "might" be a female is a testament to the trust I have in most of you. Most games I tend to just go with the flow and let people assume I am a REALLY odd male to avoid any uncomfortable situations.
I can say that the way nerds treat females is getting much better these days, though there is still a huge difference in how the two sexes are treated online, and it varies from game to game. Even in SoH, I sometimes hear the "I need to take care of you" tone in the boy's voices when talking to the girls. I think it is a built-in feature.
Luckily, we have none of the giggly, flirty, "give me stuff" females that make me want to puke. :_wub:

I find it somewhat unfortunate that we are having this conversation under the auspice of one of the most unpatriotic and inhumane corporations in existence.
If it makes you feel any better, I couldn't even remember who the commercial was for until I searched for it on YouTube this morning.
While Walmart has a pretty awful reputation for employee rights, and Sam Walton was the Scrooge of the business world, they have done a lot in recent years to improve their image at least. 2009 will be the fourth year in a row that they top the world in charitable contributions, with a figure topping 300 hundred million. (Though not as impressive when their net profit is 13 billion...)
Still, they garner enough hate to cause communities to actually fight the economic boon a store brings and bring life to websites such as

Saw this commercial for Wal-Mart earlier tonight, and it touched me a bit more than would be expected for some reason.

It also reminded me that tomorrow is Veteran's Day, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank those in SoH who have served, or are serving at the moment. While the short attention span of our country may have drifted away from the people serving both here and abroad, I would imagine this is one of the most difficult times of the year for people in the military.
Anyhoo, know that you are appreciated.

Overall: Windows XP is kind of a requirement for Aion. It just runs 10x better.

I have always only used XP on my gaming puter. I have zero empirical evidence, but it just seems to run everything better for me. I also am wary of trying to start over, as I have XP tweaked just how I want it. If it ain't broke...
I guess it helps that I really don't play any games that really push the limits of my hardware or really require more RAM than what XP utilizes.

They are focused on all the right stuff imo.
The experience tweak(whatever your personal views are) is really all this game needs to continue to grow at a good rate. It is honestly the only reason I can see people not renewing at this point given the quality-level and polish of the rest of the game.
Well, that and the Abyss crashing problem.

Oh my lord, how could I forget Return of Heracles and Ali Baba! They came on the C64 as a two-game disc "Age of Adventure". Absolute classics.
Have never heard of Rivers of Light, but I am off to the intarwebz to find it. I love going back and using an emulator to turn my thousand dollar puter into a C64 I could buy at a garage sale for five bucks!

Also would like to pay homage to the Might and Magic series. Looooved them. Such great storytelling.
