  1. Well I'm def picking this game up, do I apply to join sacrifice? After looking over the characters I think I'll start with a sage/shadow. I'll also be starting a bit late, like around early January due to holiday travel and family time.

  2. For Sol: I will be canceling my sub to aion and going with WoW for a bit so engineer prob won't be on much anymore.

For everyone: Please don't get to worked up or think that you have to do one thing or another. This is almost the exact same thing that happened after WAR. Somepeople kept playing WAR, some went back to EQ2 and some played EVE for a bit. The forums kept us all very connected and it continued that way for 3 months or so until AION came out and we all kinda fell into that game. I'm sure that once the next big one comes out (GW2?) then we'll all end up back together again having a good time.

  3. Well I think I've expressed before that my enjoyment in the game at the moment is centered around the people I'm playing it with. If they are not playing anymore that takes a big chunk out of that reason for me to play.

I've certainly got a ways to go on my playstyle and technique but other than a few end game encounters (Tahabahta and Bakarma) I've seen all the content that Aion has to offer right now.

I've never played WOW so I'm not as jaded as a lot of people and honestly wouldn't mind trying it out. So if that's where you're headed Ashin then I think I'll tag along.

  4. Actually now a new question has come to my mind.

Say I decide not to get the deave set. what would my chances of level up to 50 with out the crafted glove and boots?

If you don't get them then you'll be just fine, all the things we're describing in this thread are the "best of the best" gear for your level. You don't actually need any of this stuff to play your class well and be a good ranger.

  5. No it is no longer worth it. The only reason I would say go for it is if you don't know what class you want to play then it's a great way to get a feel for all of them. Here's the breakdown of why people get the set.

*Run speed, the whole set has 12% run speed on which is great at lvl 30. Before 1.9 the cost of fluxes meant that the lvl 33 expert shoes were regularly over 1mil for blues.

*Attack speed weapon. The weapon has 8% attack speed on it and you need the whole set to start that quest chain. While this was nice before 1.9 it is no longer necessary for glads or rangers.

Ok, now here's why it's no longer worth it.

*Run speed, go for the lvl 33 boots, the blue ones are down to 500-600k on the AH since you can buy the flux and and mats for about 550k now, just have someone make them for you. Even the blue ones give you 18% which is better than the set bonus and if you get gold then they'll last you till 50 or you get something better.

*Attack Speed. Don't bother with the 8% if you are planning on going for a ranger, have someone make you the lvl 30 balic bow thats 9%/12% depending on if it crits or not and then Fuse that with the blue or gold Krom bow and they drop fairly frequently now. Yes it will be expensive to buy all the mats for the balic bow but don't forget that it will cost 1mil just for the stone to get the Daevic one, so it's going to cost you a pretty penny either way.

Oh yeah, gloves, get the blue gloves, the daevic set doesn't offer attack speed which is THE most important stat for dps. For 500-600k you can have an extra 5-6% attack speed in the gloves, but that breaks up the daevic set, so you might as well get the boots then...

If you know you're going to stick with the Ranger then ignore the daevic set, get the speed boots, get the speed gloves, get the speed bow and fuse it, then go pawn things cause you'll be a nasty little ranger.

I know you're thinking, jeez that's over 2mil plus a krom drop!!! but you'll make that easy in less time than it would take to level that many alts. Trust me I know, I've got seven toons over lvl 30. It was well worth it before 1.9, but not at all now.

  6. I guess I'd play WOW since I never have so I don't have the same bitterness that most people do. Sure I'd go and play EVE with you guys again (Oh yeah my accounts still been going so I've got a crap ton of skillpoints now ;)). Overall though, yeah having trouble finding reasons to log in to my main, even with asteria, it kinda feels like whats the point.

  7. hmm I'll try to keep the negativity as low as I can.

Staying here: Well that'll pretty much be PVE from now on, and whats left to do? People are already burnt out on DP, you can see that from the fact that Huntyre is the only one that consistantly puts up groups for it. Lannok, ok thats fun because it takes about an hour but then what. Dredg is fun but it's a crapshoot, very rarely do we get an even matched team, we either dominate them or they dominate us, either way most of the time it ends up in PVE again. The abyss is a joke, we can say "oh it'll swing back in our favor" but I really doupt it will, certainly not before 2.0 comes out at which point it really won't matter that much.

Transfering: To where? Vaizel is the only one that the Asmos seem to be holding their own (and they're west coast so I'm not sure how much involvement we'd be able to get in there). If we transfer then I'll go too but I really don't think it will have an impact on how this game turns out.

Wait till 2.0: Yes we'll have a brand new area to fight in, we'll have all new instances to do (PVE) it might be fun for a month or two as we learn the new pve content. The same thing is going to happen there though as happened in the abyss. Massive zergs of elyos are going to role right over the forts and the whole ground abyss will be green. Just watch the video :p

Going to a new game: What's out there right now? If it's a new game that looks good then I'm all on board, but if it's just us splintering back into EVE and EQ2 till the next big thing comes out then I'll pass. It really wasn't much fun when we were all playing two different games.

If anything I'd be more inclined to reroll elyos just to see what the pve and different zones looks like on their side (since there wouldn't be any real pvp of just zerging stuff). That'd at least keep me entertained for a couple months of seeing new stuff till the next game comes out. Of course since i've got 8 toons that means I'd have to delete some of my characters but oh well. We did it in WAR and it worked out ok there till the game completely crap'd itself with bugs and broken mechanics.

Regardless of what is chosen I'll go with the guild because it's the people here that keep me playing this game. If it weren't for you guys I'd go play fallout/ME2/DAO/whatever other single player game. Sorry if that sounded to negative, I'm really not, I do have fun doing dredg and lannok with everyone but it's because I'm in a group, not because of the content.

  8. Yup, the way I read it is that if you when that date roles around, if you have only one race on that server then you get the reward. So for those of us that have never played easy mode :p we'll get all the rewards without a headache

  9. Looks like Sept. 7 if it doesn't get pushed back at the last minute which is just under 2 months to get ready.

Aion Players in North America and Europe can begin exploring the world far beyond the traditional territories of Asmodae and Elysea beginning September 7th.

Today, NCsoft, the world's premier publisher and developer of Massively Multiplayer Online games (MMOs), unveiled the official release date for Aion: Assault on Balaurea, the next exciting chapter in Aion that entrenches players into a rich storyline in which their actions will determine the fate of the world. Aion: Assault on Balaurea releases digitally to PCs in North America and Europe on Sept. 7, 2010, however, players looking for retail boxed copies of the full game featuring exclusive in-game pets will find them at select retailers in North America on Sept. 7 and on Sept. 10 in Europe.

In Aion: Assault on Balaurea, the exciting new chapter of Aion, characters have the ability to align together to launch massive counter assaults against the invading Balaur on their homeland while experiencing new and updated instances and zones, an increased level cap, new weapons and items, new skills and added flight mechanics. Characters will not be alone as they explore the new areas, as Aion introduces functional pets equipped with in-game benefits.

Unlike any MMO before it, Aion is a uniquely crafted online gaming experience where flight offers much more than just a way to gracefully explore the landscape - it is a strategic and integral part of combat, quests, and exploration. Players will use flight to dive into battle and plunge through thousands of unique, story-driven quests, all while trying to save and control a world literally shattered in half from centuries of brutal conflict.

  10. anyone having trouble connecting to the backup vent? I put all the info in but it just stays at "contacting server". Am I doing something wrong?

  11. This actually makes sense...

And here is the actually portion from the wiki:

Who can submit a name change appeal?

For you to be eligible to submit an appeal, the affected character must be level 31 or higher.

How do I submit a name change appeal?

Submit a customer support appeal to reclaim a character name if that character lost its name on the new server by sending an email to support@ncsoft.com. Include:

    1. Your current character name (for example,

  12. ^ Wow I never realized that it took that long, though I've never deleted a character that high.

I'm trying to get off work early but no gaurantee's. I've got six or seven slots open on my wife's account if anyone wants me to try and grab some names with those I can then delete them at a later time.

  13. Some things that I think we do very well.

    1. Looking at the whole player. We require competancy in a class but no matter how good you are, if you'r an @$$ then you won't fit in. On the flip side someone doesn't have to be super elite as long as they're willing to work on getting better and have a great attitude.

    2. Family/Work/Life Friendly. We understand that real life takes priority and as long as someone comunicates then we don't get to upset when something happens.

Obviously not the best wording but I think those are two of the things that help to distinguish us from the rest.

(I love that we're a multigame guild and I'm so glad that I don't have to say "the other guild's I've been in" but Sol already took that one ):p

  14. I agree with Sol, there is going to be no way to tell if some one purposfully stole a name. It sounds like they are just trying to calm people down with some hollow promises. Regardless, whatever system they put in place is going to be swamped immediately following the server coming up.

  15. Hahaha Kiffen should take a laptop and wireless card down to their HQ and sit out front waiting for the servers to come up. Just keep asking the secretary "Is it ready yet?..... Is it ready yet?..... Is it ready yet?"
