  1. Yea sure I can. Coming out of t11 and going into t12 I had just left the 25m I was raiding in due to personal differences as well as it only being a 2 day/week, and I wanted to raid a little bit more. At the time no guild on the server I was on needed full time tanks. So I decided to build my own. I gathered up some people I knew and some half decent people from the server to start up a10m, throughout the tier we cycled people in and out finding the right people with the same skill level so we could actually compete in heroic progression. Finally at the end of Firelands we had a pretty decent group to go into Dragon Soul with. First week of DS we cleared normals and got ready for heroics. The next Tuesday we scored a pretty high morchok rank, at least for what we are used to. And steadily progressed on each boss. We landed our madness kill on March 26th, and if I recall that was 2 days after you guys killed it (soh may have been a whole different team back then). We farmed out ds in preparation for mop and had a pretty solid base to stand on fire the xpac, but sadly one of my officers didn't like that we logged on once a week for farm instead of being on every day doing old tier and what not, and decided to xfer with some of the members and make her own guild. So sadly that was the nail in the coffin for us. I Continued raiding with a guild called Fallen II originaly on Stone maul, but then moved to Tichondruis for the remainder of ds. Unfortunately for my raiding schedule I got married the week that the first tier of mop came out and fell behind in gear too much for progression and they ended up recruiting for the spot. So once again I attempted to build my own 10m with some of the people from ds in hopes to have what we once did, but to keep this short my progression in the past 2 tiers ended up being what it is right now and just didn't end up working out. What did I like about raid leading? I like being able to command a group correctly and get a kill. Its gratifying knowing that what you did was succesful with a group of people. I liked talking with my officers about a strat we were going to use and figure out who needed to do what, and then getting feedback every attempt on how we could better ourselfs to get a kill. What did i not like about raid leading? I was one of the RLs who was too soft, so yelling at people for messing up was not my strong suit. I did not like the constant mias that would happen or having to recruit new people to fill some big shoes and not perform as well as they said they could. In a 10m trialing people and recruiting new raiders is a more difficult then a 25m, So that was always something i did not enjoy so much. I miss raid leading a group of people who knew what they were doing, at least in DS i did not have to focus on each player not standing in fire or not pulling enough damage/heals. We had a really solid group of players and all i had to worry about was the strat and what we needed to execute to kill each boss. As far as player impact of being a raid leader i would say raid leading is for sure a role in its own along with dps, healing and tanking. IF you think to sports does the coach get out on the field and play and tell his players what to do and score the most point on the team? no he commands from the side. So in this form you have to be the coach and the outstanding player all in one. SO i think for most everyone your play suffers a bit when being ni a raid leading position. I would say maybe i may benifit more when it comes to communication with the raid since i have had that experiance opposed to someone who had just been a raider.
  2. It would be fine, if you remember i work in the mental health field, so there is alot of downtime. By 9pm my client will be in bed and i will just be sitting in the office. Other then that i wont be doing anything Tuesday afternoon maybe before you guys raid. But honestly tonight would be just fine.
  3. Actually, i have mumble on my phone so i would be able to do an interview almost any time today when you guys are available. just let me know.
  4. Oh good, and i can grip one out and mass grip them to me @ Ashin - i work until 11pm EST on mondays, so i dont think that would work for me.
  5. Hey Estarriol! Nice to meet you I think me saying that it was a new heroic to me was maybe misconstrued? i knew the mechanics of the fight from the Normal > Heroic fight, and i knew how it worked. i had just never seen the fight before personally besides say a video. And i think we one shot it so i wasnt really able to look back and improve on it. so yes, there were things lacking from the attempt. And you may be a perfect person to talk to about the changes from 10m and 25m as far as Cd's and what not. i do understand the play style will be different, but haven't had the chance to see how much of a change it will be. I'm sure once i get the hang of things i will learn very quickly what has changed. As far as calling out for things, i've been a GM/Raid leader since firelands so having to call out everything was all up to me. pain supps, sac's etc is not a problem if i know i will need it. i guess the most obvious talent change would be even if minor would be AMZ. if i know the group will be able to stack and i can mitigate a little bit of damage i would opt into that, or even mass grip for adds on lei shen. Researching the fights and people strats is all well and good to learn the basics, but every group may do something different and need something different depending on raid comp. Communication between tanks is something i miss. in the past couple tiers ive played with silent tanks, or tanks that NEEDED me to tell them what to do during the encounter. i love talking progression with my tanking partner very much, just like healers have a healing relationship and are able to mesh well and communicate for CD's instead of worrying about numbers, i think tanks should be able to do just as well. As i may not be super familiar with warriors i think just talking with you about how we both can work together on a kill would be enough for me, and over time i would be able to learn more and more about the tanking style you play.
  6. I'm free all night. Shaffer#1932 if you wanna get ahold of me.
  7. Hey Hip, As far as the gemming and reforging its just a testing thing right now, since im not 100% raiding and just filling for a group right now, im able to switch stuff around to see what is better. just note that what my armory currently says, may not be the final product. As far as switching gems and going to 7.5% (which i fixed the 0.5% with a quick item upgrade) exp cap instead of the 15% is simply just taking your advice and going with it and testing it out. I do know the mechanics of my class, yes. I've looked at alot of different blood dks 10m and 25m exp and so many do different things. As far as logs go, at least for ji-kun it was a fight i had not seen on heroic, and it was on farm for them. so my play style may have not been perfect due to not having any exp on the fight, as to where someone progressing on the fight would learn when to use what each attempt. I use the default bars from ElvUI on my target frame to track diseases. and again, 75% is low i agree but could have been up closer to 95% For the DS usage i would have to say that is more of 10m style of play, and correct me if im way off. But i DS when i take damage sure, but even when tanking and i have a shield built up, it is not worth sitting on the runes for damage to come. So i tend to keep a blood shield up and stacking while i tank. alot of it as well is when i was OT. i guess the healing and overhealing for this would differ per fight. I was using ams on this fight as much as i could to soak up puddles even when i was tanking. Rune tap could have been used more effectively for sure, just practice knowing when damage is coming and if i can snipe the deficit before a healer does. VB i suppose would be in the same boat. that is usually gone on CD if im tanking or there is huge aoe dmg out. For DRW it was used first at the start of the fight with my initial burst, then i used it on each platform when tanking the bird so i could double blood boil and spread dots to the eggs and do a little extra dmg to help out. and then was used again after 35% to stack up soul reaper. Oh the trinkets. lol... This was actually a HUGE mistake by me and how i didn't catch it i guess there is no excuse. i had recently redone my UI because for some reason ElvUI reset all my bindings, so i had missed my trinket key bindings and didn't notice it until lei shen. so when i thought i was using my trinkets i actually was not because they were not bound. so that's that.. Death pact is pretty self explanatory, although i did not use it during the fight because i believe will proc'd with the quill damage and then a talon strike right after, but i think i got LOH so pact wasn't needed, normally i would be aiming to use this when ever Purgatory proc's because it is a massive self heal that would save me otherwise as well. AOTD is popped before the boss on the pull for damage. i haven't really used it defensively much. i think the last time i needed to use it was on madness progression for the 4th impale as a CD. But as far as this tier goes i have yet to use it for that purpose. I would like to note that as per fight to fight basis learning them is really the only way to polish your play style, im not sure any group who has not attempted a fight and played perfect on the first attempt to kill a boss. so again as far as these logs, they are by no means perfect. And Logs are a great thing to have because i am able to look back on the previous week and improve on stuff that may have been lacking in the first kill. which has been pointed out here. So thanks
  8. As we have been talking on this thread, ive been working with reforging, gemming and what not and reading up on what it better suited for 25m
  9. Yep, your 100% right, i had just recently got these heroic legs (Which are not bis) so i was playing around and switching things up. The goal is not to be under the 7.5%, before reforging i was at 7.8 or something.
  10. Alright, so in being hit and exp capped it just makes sure i dont miss anything while tanking the boss, the slightly under hit capped, just came today when i was at 9% or so after reforges, so i switched some gems around and ended up there. As far as i know its really only for 10m unless you are solo tanking a boss. This build is built up for control and not as much for avoidence. SO far in 10m i havent had any trouble keeping myself up and healers havent struggled to keep me from dying, so i had no reason to go parry/dodge. As far as changing for 25m, yes of course if the control build wasent to be more useful then say an avoidence or even haste build (only seen a few of them) i would for sure change. As far as my UI, i have bars that track my buffs & debuffs and what not that comes default with ElvUI, Im able to track how long i have left on any CD that i pop, when i can or am able to clip my ds. and then i also have OmniCC which is just a basic number countdown for my stuff. As far as glyph or talent changes would really depend on a fight to fight basis. for example in my 2nd tier i switch up AMZ and purgatory alot depending on the fight, if the group needs that small magic absorb ill go amz, if not ill take purg. in the 5th tier if i need to use blood tap to convert some death runes for more death strikes, or for example i use that on heroic tortos so i can cast chains of ice (only spell i can cast behind me) on the crystal to obtain the shield, and i can make sure i am allways able to get a shield if i need to, instead of waiting for runes to refresh. For glyphs i can switch between IBF glyph for maybe Jinrokh when i get thrown i can get out of the stun right away, i may glyph D&D for a slow on tortos turtles right as they come out. etc. And very much understood about 25m raiding exp. Like i said before there are very few guilds who raid 25m and progress decently and or have potential to clear content that can raid at times i am availiable. So far there has only been one other guild besides this one that i can who actually is looking for a tank. And instead of guild hopping every opportunity i get to grab 1 or 2 new heroic kills to finally get the tier cleared, i would rather take the time to look for some place where both partys are mutual and maybe someone to take a chance on me knowing that i can do the content 100%. Also, huehuehue. i actually like that and i might use that as a personal quote.
  11. Oh boy.. 1) The deisgn of cata healing i think was a brilliant move on blizz's part, moving from the PW'S & Chain heal spam from wotlk. For the more seasoned raiders it was probably easier to pick up and learn how to heal effectivly and no go oom in the first 2-3 pulls, compared to people just learning how to heal in cata. In the first tier while everyone was wiping on 5 man heroics as a tank i had to learn how to utilize my cooldowns and stay alive so the healers did not have to waste all of their mana on just keeping me up. While in wotlk most every tank was a meastshield with bubble shield on them you kind of had to think outside the box in t11. I think it gave the player both in healing and tanking roles a new platform to perform on. Lets hope that answer makes the cut 2) Cat person all the way. i love dogs, but 99% Cats.
  12. Well hi Negido, I may as well humor this repsonse a bit. If you mean like this, then yes....yes i do. My favorite color is Orange 2 wrongs dont make a right, that is correct and if i wanted to answer this and get dizzy i would say 8 lefts. No, ive been so tired that ive stayed up way too long.
  13. Hey, So ill start off giving you a little insight about myself and my situation and why ive looked into your guild. I will post links and all the good stuff down below. Im 23, i work in the mental health field as a residential counselor which is my full time job, I've been married for 8 months as of yesterday. I've been playing this game since the tail end of Wrath (ICC), so sadly no vanilla exp or Muru pre-nerf! but besides being a wrath baby ive been raiding since then in more casual 2 day guilds and 10m guilds ive made with friends. I've always been wanting to get into the 25m serious stuff, but never had the time to dedicate to full time blood legion style raiding so ive always stuck with what i know and done that ever since. As of recently i was leading a guild at the start of T14 with yet again some irl friends, and right after clearing ToT normal and getting H:Jin'rokh it started to fall apart due to irl issues and just too hard to keep on filling the ranks, so the people that were left decided to move from the server we were on (Alliance Turalyon) to (Horde Mal'ganis) for recruiting purposes, but sadly it was too late, we were too behind for us to be relevant anymore. So here i am looking for somewhere to set my roots and stay for a while, i dont like to guild hop which is why i havent moved to the first guild that offered me a spot. I'm really looking for the guild that will push me to be a better player then i think i am. Im very capable of learning things about certain encounters to help better the raid and not just boost MY rank to look good. Im the kind of person who could care less about myself and would rather do what i needed to to get a kill on a boss for the whole group. So lets hope i can be what you are looking for. P.S Im also a Ginger, so if you dont have one already, well.... your missing out Character Name: Shaffer Class: Death Knight Spec(s): 528ilvl Blood/ 511ilvl Unholy or Frost Faction: Horde Realm: Mal'Ganis Timezone: EST Current Progression T15: 3/13H 10m Computer Specs: Windows 7, AMD Phenom II x6 1090T Processor, 8GB of RAM, NVidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti, 21" Monitor. Armory: http://us.battle.net...haffer/advanced WoL: http://worldoflogs.c...4t95fvmu7rmqwa/ (First 5 bosses this week w/ H:Jin'rokh and H:Tortos) http://worldoflogs.c...0hy1whmrl9w3ir/ (Last 7 bosses with H:Ji-Kun) Screenshot of UI: (This is my UI in config mode so you are able to see my raid frames and BW Bars and what not) (This is my clean UI without config) Raiding Experience: ICC 25m - 9/12H (Raided with a semi-hardcore 25m) BWD/BoT/Tofw - 8/13H (Raided with a 2 day a week 25m) Firelands - 6/7H (GM/Raid Leaer of a small 10m called Perfection on Firetree, 7/7H a day after the nerf after progressing on last phase to 7%) Dragon Soul - 8/8H @ 5% (^^ Same guild as Firelands) MSV/HoF/ToeS - 4/16H (Tried raiding with irl friends who were not that into it hence it falling apart) Throne of Thunder - 3/13H (Guild broke up after 1/13H, Filled in for a 10m on the server for Tortos and Ji-Kun) As my raiding experiance has not been too impressive, let it be known that im very capeable of doing heroic encounters. I research the fights ahead of time and learn how to do them with the group as we progress. With progressing on certain fights i should mention something about glyphs and talents, my current ones may not be best for every fight, so they are being switched up usually on a fight to fight basis. If im needed to explain why or when just let me know. Also about my reforging and gemming, Im currently JUST about hit capped and i am hard exp capped. In 10m it is very helpful to pull just that much more dmg to secure a kill, and it never hurts to not miss an outbreak on the boss . Now that being said, this can very much change in a 25m heroic raiding environment, and i am very willing to switch it up. Sorry for the few walls of text, not used to apps with no template and you just get to sandbox it. If there is anything i can answer, ill be checking this thread often and you can also get ahold of me via RealID @ Shaffer#1932. Thanks for taking the time to read through my app! Hope to hear from you guys soon!
