Good afternoon SoH community. My name is Veurr Vonsmiten, everyone calls me Von or Vonsmiten though and you can too. I will be trialing with Team Sapphire in FF14 over the next few weeks as meat shield du jour. I'm never sure how much detail to go into with this sort of thing. I'll try to be brief-ish, keep the mystery alive.
A bit about me personally, I work as a finance/data entry/wood gathering peon, for my states department of education. I am 27 years old and have a lovely girlfriend who occasionally plays with me, She has just started to dip her toes into our worlds though. Other interesting notes, I was a semi-professional ballet dancer with a regional ballet company here in VA for about 12 years, starting when I was 12. I stopped a few years ago when the company changed directions. Lately I've been too busy with work to focus on a lot of hobbies other than gaming. But very recently I have made some inquiries into participating in the heavy events division of the Mid-Atlantic Highland Games.
That's the real life stuff, but as the Brad Paisley song goes I am so much cooler online. I've been a hardcore and semi-hardcore MMO player for around 17 years. I started out playing EQ on a desktop computer my grandmother bought me from Walmart in like 1999, or early 2000. I have pretty much played every major MMO title for the last decade and a half. UO, Runescape, Shadowbane and EQ of course up to about the Planes of Power expansion. I was young in those early days and I would guess truly awful. In the end I was basically the kid mascot of guild called Draconis Mortis, that started out in EQ on Mithaniel Marr.
Fast forward a few years to the launch of FF11 and that was the first game where I did end game as a real raid member. I played XI through Chains of Promathia on Carbuncle. About that time WoW released and I started playing that. It's been one of my favorite mmos just like everyone else I suppose. But I truly got into the top end raiding thing there, finishing Vanilla, BC and Wrath in top 150 US guilds.
I've been playing FF14 consistently since the 2.0 launch with a brief break a few weeks ago. I look forward to seeing what comes next and i hope to share much of those new experiences with SoH.
So there we go, a brief auto-biography of Veurr Vonsmiten! I know the question brigade will be in here shortly, I've seen you guys joking about them in the other posts. I look forward to getting to know you all.
