  1. I have to agree with Ashin on a lot of points here. I'm quick to flame this game, and its no secret, but perhaps they will turn it into an enjoyable game with loads of repeatability.... The question is, as Ashin said, when? They do seem to be reacting to player feedback, which is great. I do see this glimmer of hope they may be scratching at, too... They're talking about buffing sub-par runes to make them competitive with the powerful/required ones, which is a huge shift from their old policy of implementing sweeping nerfs on the powerful ones. I am also noticing progress with loot as well, quadrupling the drop rate from normal mobs(which really are just boring fodder), providing at least some reason to even glance at white mobs. Addressing the crazy strong elite packs is a great change too, AND they're talking about balancing the creature types that are just crazy obnoxiously strong, which in itself is huge.

  2. The next 3 months will give us Guild Wars 2, Mist of Pandaria, and Torchlight 2.

I just dont see them being able to pull anything off that will make people chose diablo 3 over any of those 3 games.

Not to mention starting in September the fall/holiday game release boulder starts rolling with Borderlands 2 coming out September 18th.

Absolutely. I don't hear people even whispering about Diablo III anymore.

I just miss the days when a released game was finished.

110%. The knee-jerk tuning/balancing was also a huge issue, and goes in the category of 'unfinished' as well imo. Not to mention, we heard for years from Blizzard, that Diablo III would be released when it was ready... which clearly didn't happen. I'm not even mad about the game itself anymore, I'm just upset that I was so excited for the Diablo/Diablo II experience again, and I was so hyped for it, and it failed me so badly. IMO if they cared about providing a positive gaming experience, they would have held the RMAH until post-launch and focused on PVP and other issues.

  3. Eesh... I don't know about the Subscription + [What I assume to be]micro-transactions-to-access-subscription-content-for-non-subscribers model....

I suppose if a player was only available or interested a few hours a week the F2P w/ Micro-transactions might be a cheaper deal and still fulfill their goals, which is totally cool.

I wonder, however, how would the same player feel if they were spending more than the subscribers in a given month on certain portions of the game, and still didn't have the same access? It might be neat to have a system such that if you spent as much as the subscribers do in any given month, you are granted the same access for that month?

  4. In Closing...

I have questions for you folks. From reading your forum requirement. I’ve noticed that you all have just recently formed to a 25 man run from two previous 10 mans.

Why choice to form the 25 man? Has your numbers overly increased in time?

Have you all been spared from the burn out most WoW players are experiencing right now?

I can answer a question or two, hopefully.

The 25-man format has been chosen by the majority of the guild as a whole, after being put to vote. Overall my take on the 25man format benefits the guild as a whole, by allowing us to work together, and not feel so separated from one another. Folks could be in the guild for a month and not know Raider X because they were on a different team.

I'm sure there's other reasons but continuity is a big one.

For the most part SoH raiders tend to be very resilient when it comes to burnout. I personally experienced it this tier(also just major videogame burnout in general) and retired from raiding for the time being. The ten man teams have usually had a stable roster, and folks are usually generous enough to give the team time to find a suitable replacement before leaving.

  5. Also, you have to pretend not to know what Cataclysm is on Madness and let me boss you around on Yor'sahj.

    Dat Korben.

Kay Tee, that was uncalled for :(

Also sad news is I didn't actually know what it was, not even for pretends.

KT vs Korbonbon: GO TOUCH THE FRIGGIN SLIME KORBEN SO I CAN DO MY WING THING AND POOP DAGGERS

    Me: Okay face :(

  6. Of course they'd name is FCFS Ret Helper, lol...

Not always following it pretty ideal, as there's times you learn to override it, which is good. So I'm glad you use it since honestly in my opinion there's no human who can perform as well and still maintain positional awareness etc without it.

I'm a SimC whore, to the point where I'd run SimC vs wowreforge swapping one piece at a time, rerunning, comparing, etc. Doing it less often is still ok, and usually you can get away with plugging in your weights again(and not running SimC) after only 1-2 gear changes(usually) and not see anything more than 1-2% off ideal performance.

My personal view on stat weights is that SimC is going to be right for 95% of fights(not Madness, etc) or more, and to use those. Any numbers on forums are just suggestions and can vary wildly.

I'm glad to see that you're open to nitpicking. Really that shows character and willingness to look at other points of view. Its easy to be stuck in your ways and think you was is better, but it holds you back as a player and a person.

I know I'm text walling this application, but I'm happy to offer up Ret advice and/or nitpick those who play my class. You won't see me on much but I was Purple's Ret Paladin for about 5 months this tier, and Ret/Prot for the majority of this expansion.

    Good luck to you.

  7. A Ret Paladin you say? I once knew of a Ret Paladin who's face was so handsome he caused Deathwing to go insane and bring about the Cataclysm... but then he became a she, and she grew tired.

I can't see your UI because I'm on my phone, but do you use CLCRet? I see you say you use Ret Rotation Helper(not familar with it), but I don't know if any human could do their best rotation without it(protip, its usually right, but human judgement comes in and perfects it)

Also I don't mean to nitpick but your rotation seems like copypasta, especially the Madness bit. Have you considered a haste build for sub-3second CS(Madness Specific)? Usually you need only to redo food and maybe swap a haste trinket in and you hit the 3 second haste barrier for the first 3 and final platform.

One thing that stuck out like a sore thumb to me was you said you only reforge Haste to Mastery. Have/do you use any internal or external reforge helpers? My personal favorite is wowreforge.com, mixed with my weights from SimC. It will give you your absolute best reforge(sometimes that even means reforging a Mastery to Haste[extreme example]on one of your pieces)

  8. Ok.. I'll bite. Basically, if those percentages are accurate as a cross section of the entire D3 community (which I find highly unlikely), it basically reflects that those who got the free copy through the WoW promo (in regards to volume of users) are no longer playing D3. (based on week 1 sales numbers).

On that note, I'm going back to playing D3.

It's been debated, but xfire generally represents a decent cross section of the games they report on with their numbers. It's not exactly a random sample, but it's close.
