  1. I know Act II is notorious for losing progress during quests... I do seem to remember the Kulle quests you need to finish the entire area that is opened by each individual quest arc(not just the onscreen quest points) to save progress... something else that came to mind, the 'Here's your exp and some gold' box that appears after quests... this may very likely be a hard checkpoint, don't quote me on that, I will look into it though.

Really I think AII is the worst for this, and MOST others are more obvious(esp Act III).

Ill just be extra careful in AII.

Also, joining public games can be risky, you may be 30m back from where you were, be warned! I recommend opening your game than joining another.

  2. It should be pretty obvious that this is being tolerated a lot more because it's D3, and people have been waiting for it for so long.

I won't say I regret buying it, but I regret spending the amount of money I did on both a normal edition and a collector's edition, and I didn't think I'd have those feelings at all.

It is definitely being tolerated because it is D3, indeed. I find myself struggling with the urge to downright quit, but my real life friends keep me going. That, and my new Demon Hunter. I don't... REGRET buying it, either, but I am forced to wonder when we can expect stable servers and a working AH.

  3. So, he didn't offer a solution... just listed his various opinions of why he, and everyone else, should go complain. Seems kinda pointless.

He did encourage people TO complain, in the effort to have their complaints heard loudly by the development community.

Another thing he made clear was that as the consumer, we shouldn't have to deal with the headache that should be Blizzard's responsibility to keep dupes/hacks/etc out of their game. What they did was force online-only gaming, at the expense of the paying consumer, rather than implement a working offline and online mode.

He never claimed to have all the answers, rather he looks to Blizzard(because as he artfully points out, it is THEIR game and THEIR problem when things are not what they should be) to come up with creative/any ideas that promote an enjoyable gaming experience without causing the player a headache with their new DRM policies. He encourages gamers to criticize a company for not delivering a fun and enjoyable product, in the effort that they will hear the criticism and make improvements based upon it. It's not for the gamer to test and fix what is wrong, unless it's an Alpha/Beta release.

  4. Only if you went 0 vitality in order to explicitly exploit it, lol :p

Look at what Monks in GW did. They manipulated their HP down to 55 and would solo treacherous content that usually required extremely coordinated groups. And it was ok.

  5. I am known for being heavily critical of nearly every problem, and while I admit I am overy critical of minor issues sometimes, this guy puts together a great piece on some of the more major issues with Diablo 3.

Tip: Skip in to 0:40 unless you want to watch.. odd things.

  6. Here's how D2 works and D3 is probably the same, don't see why it would change, it sure feels the same. When you kill a mob:

...then the game rolls to determine which item to drop, selecting it from a predetermined loot list for that specific mob and depending on your LVL; what your char is actually allowed to have dropped.

If it does in fact use D2 mechanics, clvl doesn't matter for what the loot can be, only alvl and mlvl

Further, clvl was only used in horadric cube recipes for certain things. A level 1 could kill Hell Baal for the ilvl 99 GC.

  7. I have noticed that if I have anything open in the background, including an internet browser I get lag. Keep it all closed and no problems except the first 30 seconds of the first fight when logging in. It's like it need a second to wake up my video card letting it know, time to get to work!

Indeed this does work in some areas. For me personally, doesn't help in sewers. But it might help someone so keep any info coming :)

  8. No nerf to soul harvest!

I say it won't happen. In inferno, it's use is limited to begin with, because being near that many enemies means you're probably going to die to begin with. Combine that with WD's being the weakest Inferno character, they shouldn't be getting nerfs anytime soon.

  9. I guess my response was eaten, but what I had said was along the lines of... What does this actually do(nuts and bolts), and I tried it and it wrecked my fps down to like 3 :(

  10. I've started to witness occasional chop that I attributed to lag. It's on and off, and I can't really pinpoint specific circumstances. I'll give the drivers a try.

While this hasn't helped me, as I still get 13fps in A2, hopefully it will help others at LEAST narrow their issue down

  11. One thing I don't see mentioned and might want to briefly touch upon is that people experiencing video related problems(low framerate, choppyness, etc) should look into updating their video drivers. nvidia has released at least two updates for me since the 15th. Hope this helps someone.

  12. Buy Corb's definition there are a couple checkpoints after you kill the spider queen. He shouldn't be starting the whole dungeon over no matter when he logged out after killing her.

Checkpoint before her lair, one right after her lair/death IIRC and I know there's one just outside.

Yeah, this is what frustrated me so much. Some checkpoints are fake checkpoints, some are real, it seems.

  13. Start the quest 'Trailing the Coven', Act 1. I start from the cellar, go all the way through the spider area, kill the queen(Only took 3 tries, somehow), exit the area, onto the next area, grab the waypoint, leave game. Come back and my next game starts me at the cellar again.

Why, why, WHY Blizzard insists on this silly quest/waypoint deletion thing is beyond me.

  14. I personally don't think Inferno should have been as beatable as it was, and most beat it already due to bugs/unintended mechanics. It's been just one week, we haven't even begun to see the loot that will be commonplace 6 months from now, so I don't mind that Inferno is hard as shit and shouldn't be totally soloable week 1. I do mind, though, that there's just some nearly impossible enemy packs, regardless of resists and HP...

  15. I'll be curious to see the list. But I knew there would be nerfs / hotfixes for the first few weeks.

I hope the res timer gets increased a bit, so that people aren't able to trivialize inferno by spamming respawn and throwing themselves at bosses.

Have you played Inferno? You can barely kill elite packs after 4 rezzes, where your timer is close to 15s @ that point, and hoping they didn't full heal...

  16. Want:

Any items with high(50+) Resist All + Intellect(100+) or Vitality(100+) or 150+ Combined Int+Vit, + Magic Find(10+), special bonus if +Resist All AND + Fire Resist on the same item.

  17. I am playing a 60 Witch Doctor in Act 1 of Inferno. I do not use any pet, and on the rare occasion I do, it's the giant guy. I use it because it puts a spell on cooldown for 1minute, which is 1 of 4 total spells you need on cooldown for the 300% mana regen passive. I usually couple that with 80% glyphed Grasp of the Dead(name might not be exact), the 2m voodoo totem(usually 5% life/sec) and the 1m AoE Confuse, glyphed for either the stun or 20% damage taken. This allows me to spam zombie bears on normal enemies, and some elite packs, for around 30k per bear, otherwise I will use Spirit Barrage wih whatever glyph is most appropriate for single target ranged nuking, combined with the 80% snare. Some elite packs go down without dying, others I die to 10x. You're supposed to die, I guess, so whatever. My only reasonable gripe vs elite packs is if you take too long, you get a debuff that dots you to death in about 8 seconds, no questions asked.
