  1. Hello Lifted! I'm Craterhoof in-game or Mordigrim around the forums, Discord, etc (slowing transitioning to using Craterhoof everywhere to reduce confusion though).

I'm happy you found us and that our Code of Conduct seems like a good fit for you. Speaking for myself, SoH has had nothing but a positive influence on my online gaming in the 8 years I've been here (sometimes I hear the Cheers theme song in my head when logging in to a game with SoH'ers, it's the craziest thing).

So let's get to the get-to-know-you questions!

Do you play any games outside of WoW Classic?

What's your favorite activity to do with your daughters?

If your significant other had to describe you in one sentence, what would they say?

It's 1989 and nukes are aimed at us and we need a diplomat to talk down the foreign leader who's ready to blast us into the stone age but the only people available are Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, Ric Flair, and Jake the Snake Roberts. Who do you put on the phone to negotiate and why?

Feel free to give me whatever questions you have too!

  2. Hey Mord! Mord here. Have I introduced you to Mork yet?

Mork, this Mord and that Mord talked in Discord today after this Mord saw that Mord's looking-for-Horde-guild post in the BSB'cord.

Anyway, that's probably enough of that for now...

I'd say to take it easy and just enjoy the world again. The live version of WoW suffers from a heavy dependency on rushing to level cap so you can then participate in the grind for gear and any content they add relevant to such. Meanwhile, the whole experience of Classic is about the leveling itself, and I'm very excited to focus on the journey rather than the destination again in WoW.

One of my favorite quotes regarding WoW is from Chris Metzen when he said, "the main character of World of Warcraft is the world." Classic/Vanilla really captures that for me. In Modern WoW the player is the main character and everything is built around serving the player. You're an extraordinary hero doing mundane tasks. In Classic, you're just a random person in the world trying to get by and maybe eventually do extraordinary things. It's a very different design philosophy. I'm excited to just be in the old world again.

If I can hit you with a return question: What's your favorite Titan exotic? I've recently got my hands on Peregrine Greaves and I never want to take these things off - the rush of one-shotting large blockers by smacking them is just so satisfying

You can absolutely hit me with any number of questions. When I was leveling up my first exotic was ACD/0 Feedback Fence and I wore them for-ev-er...because punching is fun. I got Hallowfire Heart not too long ago and that's been a fun one for me, I really like chucking hammers and flaming grenades at aliens so doing it more often is appealing (plus it looks awesome with the solar glow on the solstice set). I'd say if I had to pick my absolute favorite right now though it would be my Synthoceps. I just love to punch.

I missed the weekend when Xur was selling One-Eyed Mask recently and have been kicking myself for that one. One of these days I'll get one though.

  4. Welcome to the SoH forums! I'm excited to get to know you! I'm Mordigrim around here and on modern WoW (as well as in most games I play) but I'll be maining a warrior named Craterhoof in Classic.

Totally understand on voice chat. My computer is in our living room so that I can still be close to my wife and kiddo while I game but that means my voice chat is usually off or muted. We may use it for dungeons and other big group activities but no stress about having it off most of the time.

What kind of fishing do you do? I live in mid-Missouri and enjoy fishing local ponds for largemouth bass. I'll also occasionally go crappie fishing with my father-in-law and one of these days I'm going to get a hefty rod/reel setup for hitting the Missouri river for big blue catfish.

So we like to ask silly questions around here to start the get-to-know-you conversations. Feel free to hit me back with whatever you've got. Here's what I want to know:

If you won a massive lottery jackpot, what's the first frivolous thing you would buy (i.e. not a house, car, pay off debt, etc)?

What's your favorite unhealthy food and/or drink?

If you had to compare yourself to one character from a movie, show, or book who would it be and why?

Do you prefer disco or reggae?

  5. Hello hello Skoogey!

I also play Titan in D2! Us punchy types gotta stick together.

    So, few questions:

What's your favorite enemy to punch in D2?

If you had to identify one primary goal in WoW Classic, what would it be?

What do you like better; pizza delivery or Chinese take-out? Explain your answer.

  6. Hello Zimion! Welcome to the SoH forums! I'm Mordigrim around here but will be Craterhoof in Classic. I am also married, have a 6yo myself, and I've also been waiting on Classic for forever!

I can promise we have some cool folks to hang with but we gotta know that you're cool too. So...

Favorite movie from before the year 2000 that is/was considered a bad movie by critics?

Favorite artist or genre of music to listen to while in WoW battlegrounds or dungeons?

If your spouse were to describe you in one sentence or less, what would they say?

    What about your kiddo?

Favorite professional wrestler and why is it Macho Man Randy Savage?

(Feel free to hit me back with whatever silly questions you might have too, I look forward to getting to know you!)

  7. So I see tier lists pop up all the time on places like reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends. I feel like this is an accurate portrayal of the thought process behind how most players decide which champions are the best.

And also, because it's semi-related (due to Dunkey-ness) and because I though it was cool...here's an intro to my new favorite sub-genre of music, it's called Dunkstep:

  8. Amon Amarth. Nothing better than epic tales of Vikings and Norse lore set to the tone of brutal Scandinavian metal while slaughtering hordes of beasts, demons, or whatever else gets in the way.

Honestly though, I don't have just one go-to playlist for grinding. Amon Amarth is on my list of bands/artists that I always enjoy regardless of my mood. Some others I like to throw in with them would include Trivium, In Flames, Whitechapel, All Shall Perish, Born of Osiris, Job for a Cowboy, DevilDriver, Hatebreed, and many more. Sometime I go a little calmer but stay in the rock/metal genres with bands like the Deftones, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein, etc.

I don't just listen to rock/metal though, I like almost all genres and forms of music. It's fair to say the majority of my gaming playlists consist of metal and more metal but my musical taste varies greatly depending on my mood. I'd say outside of metal playlists my most common playlists while gaming are either indie hip-hop with artists like Atmosphere, Eyedea and Abilities, Sage Francis, and B. Dolan or some form of techno/electronic music. Typically things like The Prodigy, Daft Punk, The Crystal Method, Deadmaus, or Deichkind but a lot of times when I'm in the mood for electronic genres I just bring up Pandora and let it pick music for me.

  9. The current name is much better.

This is my only opposition to the name change. I could not care less about the moral character of the person renaming the item, I just like the name "Stark's Fervor" and hate to see the name changed.

  10. Zomg no one ever knows Texas is the Reason! Though, the birth of emo is typically blamed moreso on Rites of Spring than TitR. Silly that you fell for the Misfits reference!

...I support Trivium b/c Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaves is all sorts of awesome (except for the YouTube video of the song with the bro spitting after he screams "in waves" which is an image I can't seem to erase from my brain)....

I'm not blaming them for birthing the abomination that is emo, honestly I'm only mad at them for deceiving me with their name. The fact that they were one of the early bands to really gain popularity making emo music (even if everyone was calling it "post-hardcore" back then) is just fuel for the fire.

And maybe it's just me but I was more distracted by his ears than his spitting. Perhaps I'm just used to seeing him with more hair so his ears have been less noticeable...but it seems to me like the top half of his ears are growing and becoming more droopy as the years pass.

  11. That game 7 loss was brutal. I was having to listen to updates of it from the pilot on my DFW-LAX connecting flight to come down here last year. It was suprising that there were so many St Louis fans on that flight. The game didn't have a Bill Buckner moment in it, but it might as well have if you look at how close Texas came to sealing the deal earlier in the series.

Bryant and Merriwhizzle get the nod for it counting for TX (the latter due mostly to the little trailhand pic in the sig). Going to have to deny Inedit. You can have your Texas is the Reason, I'll stick with my Trivium and Machine Head.

The game 6 win was amazing. I'm sure it was completely devastating from the other side of the field, but as a Cardinals fan I was in heaven. David Freese is my new favorite player because of this past post-season and that game specifically. It was a crazy run for St. Louis to come back from 10 games out of the Wild Card before the season ended.

    Also, Trivium \m/

  12. I used to listen to Texas is the Reason...

They named their band after lyrics from a Misfits song. Then they made "post-hardcore" music that would go on to influence all modern emo bands. Makes no sense. They tricked me with their name long long ago and I've resented them for it ever since.

And also...Yankees? Rangers? This thread needs a respectable baseball team in it.

  13. Uggs are the most godawful footware to ever grace the earth.

    This^.

I'm not sure how in hell the marketing world convinced girls of all ages that these things where sexy. At their hey day teenage girls all over SoCal wore them with anything from leggings, jeans, shorts to mini skirts. A more hideous piece of footwear I don't want to imagine. And here in SoCal where it's warm you can add a horrid smell to the list of things that are wrong with these shoes!

    And this^.

I've always wanted my very own personalized Russian T-shirt!

    Please tell me moar!

    And most definitely this^.

  14. Then yeah, you have a free trial version. If you don't plan to buy it, it is available through pirating, but not everyone does that sort of thing. If you're not the pirating type, you may have to find a different software than fraps...there's bound to be a free recorder out there somewhere...
