  1. These things are never certain! ;)

I also hate the way they went with the collector's edition. Cute in-game perks that don't actually do anything, or items that you get at first that give you a little boost for the first bit of your character are the ways to go. I felt like I was being coerced by EA into shelling out more money to get those lvl 30 wings.

  2. I'm going to have to be a little bi-polar about Aion. Even though I spent last week getting excited about playing, I just haven't ended up feeling like logging in since. Also, if there are going to be performance/crash problems in endgame PvP, I don't know if I want to go through all that again. I know they might fix things, but I can't know for sure. Maybe I'll just wait a bit before really playing the game.

Anyway, I'm not subscribing either for now. I'll be around the boards as usual. Hopefully I'll feel like playing something soon!

  3. To hell with the gauntlet! Interleaving just sounds funny to me. As far as I'm concerned it's interweaving. :p

And how is one more correct than the other? They both indicate the same thing in this situation.

    Toons

Oh man, if they change the Exp, my conviction on sticking with the Templar is going to waver. This is despite the fact that the Templar is an absolutely amazing tank class so far and I wouldn't consider switching my main. MMOADD will just eventually grip me, and I won't rest until I have three different archetypes at max level.

  4. I just kind of realized that it's been over a week since I last logged into Aion. Just wanted to check in and say hi. I've been active in the fantasy football forum and talking with Zyco on gamedays through the Yahoo stat tracker so it hasn't really felt like I've been away that long.

I've been distracted lately, and all the pretty lights and differentness of Aion dazzled me a bit at first! I might not play this weekend either, but I will see you guys sooner than later~

  5. Dar if you are finding Morheim too crowded, we are advising people to head to Brusthonin. Unless you mean that Altgard is too crowded, in which case you're being overly sensitive. :_wub:

Feh. You underestimate me. :p I really just wasn't looking forward to living the Morheim horror stories I've been hearing. Brusthonin you say? I must've missed that--I assumed the leveling areas would stay completely linear.

As far as the change from DAoC frontiers to WAR frontiers, and I don't know about your experiences Yev, but when I was playing the game the people I knew of viewed all the mobs, obstacles and landscape as kind of annoying. When you actually see what happens when you remove all of it, it doesn't seem to be much of an improvement, but I bet a lot of the feedback they got about DAoC's frontiers steered them toward a more austere design for WAR's RvR lakes. I'd point to Emain in Old Frontiers as a big indicator of this--the majority of open field RvR took place in Emain. If I remember accurately it was basically a couple of big open areas connected by a wide ravine, which is where Alb and Mid players would come into Hib to fight, and that's where most of the players preferred to fight. Keeps were even kind of a diversion from the norm.

  6. That sounds really cool. 8) This time around I'm having a harder time being okay with uber-crowded gameplay for some reason, so I haven't really wanted to struggle my way up the levels through the sea of people, but I'm gettin' there. Hope to meet you guys out there soon.

Very good to know about the resources/xp/AP, too. Would you say the Abyss maybe has a Dark Crag feel to it, or for anyone who played DAoC, a Frontiers feel even?

  7. I will fully admit to getting pretty pissed off at certain aspects of this thing, and this is easily the biggest argument I've ever seen within SoH. Even as we disagree though, I'm sure that it will pass. This could still be just a pile of dog crap in an otherwise pristine rose garden! I hope you'll take a little bit to put this episode in perspective against the greater backdrop of what it means to be SoH, and I certainly don't--nor have I talked to--anyone who would actually want you to take a hike over this thing. Some of us had an admittedly upsetting debate on it, and the guild's policy has been set. I already feel better after logging back in and playing a bit; I'd suggest the same for you. :)

  8. Understand that I am trying to choose my words very carefully:

You guys are now directly attacking the opinions of those of us who disagree with you. Nonchalantly stating "Why do you care if you're not going to buy gold? You shouldn't even have spoken up. We don't think you really care, anyway. Look what you did." is extremely unfair. Maybe you didn't mean the last two sentences I just paraphrased, but it sure looks that way. The first two I can see no way around, and those are bad enough.

Now, to actually address this topic, obviously you guys have probably guessed that Tillie and I have talked about this a bit, and I just saw his reply while hitting Preview Post =) I have not once attacked the substance of the arguments that Relent made on this issue, but I was taken aback. What I did see in the post that Relent initally posted on this topic (not this thread) was partially a thoughtless rant full of loaded language that did end up (unintentionally, I assume) targetting some of our members.

I didn't intent to post in this thread at all, but after a couple of the most recent posts I started feeling a little put out over what was being said.

  9. I love the private stores. Not only in spite of the fact that there is an AH, but I think partially because there is an AH.

Being able to set up a private store is a great option, and is something you have to more actively do (at least now that they've put a timer on them). Because there is an AH, we know that lazy sellers are going to use just it because it is easier. If you decide to set up a private store, not only do you not have to pay a broker fee, but you can sell items wherever you want. For instance, I have five Frozen weapons I plan to sell, and where better to sell them than a place where a bunch of level 14-17 people are running by you all the time? (the quest hub!) Also, because we know how lazy a lot of people are, you are more likely to sell an item at a higher price if you are in a location that doesn't require your potential customers to travel anywhere. 8) This will be particularly pertinent when people start making alts and funding them with tons of money from their mains.

This is my experience so far, at least!

  10. what lvl requirement? About lvl 15+ (17 is safer)

I'm assuming this means that as the tank I should be at least 17, yes? Or do we even know? I'd love to try it at 15 if there is any shred of doubt about it.
