  1. I'm sure others have thought of this but I haven't seen it said: This also seems like a great way to give a really good test run, if not to their game servers then at least to their login servers. It will attract a lot more people at the same time than a beta, and if the explosion of Pre-Select participants causes a nuclear reaction at NCWest, they have a little bit of time to make adjustments before it really, truly matters on head-start day.

  2. I would just like to say yay for Twitter.

And woot!! Blackfeather was the name of one of my favorite characters ever (my WoW Druid) and I loved the character so much. I was a bit worried about pre-select because I actually saw somebody with the name during the couple days I played during beta!

  3. I still say half the templars will reroll when they get to max level. I'm sure Ashin will persevere just to prove me wrong.

If you remember, that's what I did on WAR. :x

I'm going to like the way I look this time, though. That had a lot to do with it. ;)

  4. "Grind" seems (to me) to mean playing the game. That's what grouping with your friends and killing NPC's is, right? Gameplay? So, gameplay is bad. But running around doing errands for an NPC by yourself is good.

Completely agree. "Grind" has just become a four-letter word, that's all. I'm from DAoC where quests were kind of an oddity, apart from your class-specific epic series. You even learn to play your class better in a "killing mobs to level" situation, because on the whole you're spending more time in combat! That was certainly my experience, and you can learn a lot more than you think by just putting forth the effort to pick up on things you wouldn't have noticed otherwise and not turning off your brain to go on autopilot to grind.
