I don't think the joking nature was the problem, I think it was the brevity of it combined with the words "I am only doing this because I have to". It's not that hard to construct one paragraph that says who you are, your gaming experience and what you like to do outside of games, is it? I think that's all people were looking for, with their comments.

It's sometimes hard for those of us who have been around for a while to get to know all the new applicants if you don't include more information, because not everyone is going to have the same play times, and might not be able to get to know you in game.

So, Kiffen was nice enough to do some hand holding and actually explain what was going on. Now I'm pretty into it.

I will say, tho, that SOE really needs to work on making this more beginner friendly, or their only customers will be ex-PS1 players. I actually think they need a single player tutorial mode to give people some idea how the map works and other key concepts of the game. And the cooldown timer on "instant action" probably needs to be less than 30 minutes - that was just prohibitive.

There's no tutorial yet? Now some...SOME of the stuff Kiffen said you had trouble with makes sense.

Notice how the women are wearing pants in a photo op though, this never would have happened years ago. Pants were actually BANNED for women previously, that was lifted earlier this summer. Cellphone usage is also going up and allowed in far more areas than before...it will be interesting to see what happens moving forward.

Yeah, I couldn't believe this when I read about it on reddit this morning. Breivk was fine, and just giving his opinion when asked - it's not like he blasted them or called them idiots for making a game differently than he would have. Chambers, and Wilson were total asshats.

It's likely he will loosen things up (compared to his dad), but I don't doubt people are still terrified, and will be for some time.
