  1. Hi Ashin, It was great chatting with you guys. I can see you're a really good group of people. I can be very honest here and say of all the adjectives above, I'm definitely confident. But I'm not that take charge, forward leaning, assertive personality. I don't have a raid leader personality. I'll own a mistake between pulls, I'm vocal during a fight when needed, I'll share relevant information between pulls if I think it's appropriate, but otherwise I can't describe myself as the person you're looking for. I completely respect wanting someone that's more assertive and more of a leader personality though. I think I'll respectfully withdraw my application, but I won't do this before I say what a truly unique guild you've created in this game. Thank you for all the time you've taken chatting and I wish you amazing success in MoP
  2. I sure am =) I look forward to it! I'll probably already be on, so you can whisper me the mumble/vent info, if that works.
  3. Oh I have raids Sunday about 8:15. Hmm. How about Saturday evening ?
  4. I'm pretty flexible this weekend, whatever works best for you guys.
  5. Hi again Negido, Just hearing you describe the guild makes it all the more attractive. I love that you guys genuinely like each other. I'll say, I'm a 1 game girl. I played Diablo 3 during the lull before MoP, but other than that, I haven't really gotten in to other games. Although, I played the last Zelda release, but that doesn't really count. I love the chatroom thing though. We used to do that in one of my previous guilds and I loved it. With my new job, I don't have any time to breath during the day, but I'd love to think I will in the future. Although, I do love a good cigar and I'm dying to work on challenge modes, so I'd be up for some cigars and golds, if that counts
  6. This is her blog: http://sunniersartofwar.com/ While searching for strat info during T13, I had come across her blog a few times. She's had a few interviews/podcasts over the years on some pretty high profile WoW sites. I know Theck had a link on his blog to her post on weakauras. She also has a Twitter account, so she's had some nice exposure in the WoW community.
  7. Hi Twelvesoft , I look at the tanks as people that need to learn a fight fast so the other 23/24 can learn it while the boss is under control. The tanks job is to position the boss or adds wherever it makes everyone elses job easier and we might have no idea where that is if people don't speak up. Seriously, if there's something that I can do better or different during a fight, I'd hope someone would speak up. In the end, it's all about getting those pixel dragons dead! Hi Midri, I have to admit there was a certain cool factor when I found out I was going to co-tank with Sunnier...I totally knew who she was already from her blog. The interesting part was having 2 female tanks on the team. I'd like to know statistically how often that's happened in this game lol. Hi Hip, You mentioned spec'ing clemency, which i agree for some fights. Are you using any tools to help you get HoPs/HoSs out to other players? So far the only fight I've found clemency useful for is heroic Spritbinder. I might find more uses as I get further in to heroics. I use Vuhdo clique for HoP's. I have 10 keybinds on my mouse and anything bound there is considered a “premium” keybind since they're fast and easy to use for me. This is a good time to answer you on the Salv/Sac comment, both of which are on “premium” mouse keybinds. But I fully admit my usage is poor and it's not unnoticed by me. I am my own worst critic. What tools are you using for multi-target threat? Awesome question. I miss Righteous Defense something fierce...I was so spoiled with it. I use the Tidy Plates threat option (not threat plates) but they're buggy and inconsistent. When I pull trash, I always mark a skull. Keep people on one target so I can get threat on everything else. My Vuhdo is set up to show aggro, so if anyone other than the tanks light up, I use target of target to taunt off them. I'd be curious to know how another fellow pally that lost righteous defense is doing this. Interesting choice of Execution Sentence for Windlord, why that choice? I wanted to go for the damage. I figured I could switch to HP or LH later if the raid needed the extra heals. It might seem counter intuitive that it would do more damage than an an aoe damage ability, but it did. I checked a few logs after for comparison and ES was consistently a few percent higher in overall damage than HP. I couldn't find anyone running LH. I've seen a trend in some of our app'ing Prot Pallies of using Seal of Blood. What are your thoughts/reactions to this? Is it something you've tried? I see your consistently running SoI throughout your logs. By Seal of Blood, I think you mean Seal of Truth? I was admittedly resistant to switching to SoL after the nerf to Truth, but it didn't take long for me to get addicted to checking my healing meters at the end of a night. They wanted us to have a seal that felt like it belonged to a tank and they sure accomplished this. Once I switched, I haven't really looked back. The option exists if I hit a fight with a strict enrage timer and start tweaking myself for DPS, but right now I can't imagine leaving all that passive healing off the table. You appear to be meticulous with your Sacred Shield use, what do you think of the 5.2 changes to Holy Flame? What talent route do you plan to take then? I fooled around with Holy Flame at the start of MoP. Our healers were really struggling on Will so I switched to Flame to see if that would help. It felt so horribly awkward wasting 3 Holy Power and a GCD on it. But the boost it's getting is pretty significant. Best I can do is say I plan on trying it out and see what kind of HoT's it'll put out with decent vengeance. Perhaps with enough haste by that time and such a high uptime on SoR already, the end result will be SoR + HF > SoR + SS.
  8. Hi Negido I do consider myself optimistic. If we're short members in a raid, I'd rather try to 9 man or 24 man it before calling a raid. Or if the comp isn't ideal, rework a strat and keep going. Or take the mail man at work. I've been with my new company for 3 months and the mailman has never smiled at me. I wished him a Happy new year and he said "yeah, see ya". But someday I just know he'll smile and be nice, I'm optimistic lol. Hi Ashin, All my experience has been on Prot. I started this game only on a RAF account years ago to help my brother level. I had zero intention of ever playing beyond that but I got sucked in and fell in love with my pally. MoP started off difficult with how spikey my damage was. By the time trash was done in heroics I'd have every major CD used including lay on hands. This carried over to raids when they started. Damage was just spikey and I wasn't used to seeing so many dips in my health. CD's couldn't come close to smoothing it out. I'm very happy with how Paladin feels today though after all the gear upgrades. I'm back in a great spot with it. The smoothing of incoming damage has been so noticable. My favorite thing though? The movement speed talents! I've wanted movement speed on paladin for years and I'm loving it. There's hardly a fight I don't enjoy it, even if it's just Long Arm of the Law to move in faster on the pull. Paladins do great for controlled spikes during a fight with the shear amount of CD's we have. For Spiritbender, with Holy Avenger and Clemency for double BoP's, there's times I can CD myself for close to the full minute I'm tanking. I think Monks and DK's make great assets because of the amount of DPS they can bring to the table while tanking, quite a bit more than paladin. DK's and Druids are great on heavy magic fights. Monks, may take a lot of mana to heal, but it's more controlled and their damage intake can be very smooth between stagger and their high dodge. Shield tanks are great for heavy add fights. DK's have amazing self heals. I think tanks feel really balanced to me right now. One may bring higher DPS or one might need more external CD's help during a fight, but you need differences to make it interesting.
  9. My apologies Raer! I had logged out in my "questing" set which has a lot of Ret pieces. I'm in my Prot gear now. /wave to all the fellow female raiders/players that have said hi and Happy new year to everyone =)
  10. Hi Inedit, That's a really fair and good question. I'm respectful of the fact I'm on a public forum and I am still currently with Taint, so I think I will try to find you in game and share my reasons. Again, it's an excellent question. It honestly has nothing to do with 25 vs. 10 man raiding. I've done both now and enjoy both for different reasons. I've also been looking at 10 man guilds. Some things aren't deal breakers, such as horde vs. alliance, although my heart lies with horde <3. It's that way with 10 or 25, although, overall I found 25 more fulfilling. On a personal note, I'm a property manager for 3 Tax Credit/Affordable properties. It's an interesting, crazy, busy line of work. I love coffee and chocolate and reading and anything on Discovery ID, I'm usually on the golf course in the summer and playing WoW too much in the winter My 8 year old niece lives with me on the weekends and usually stays over once during the week. I have 2 nephews and 2 nieces, 6, 8, 8 and 10 years old who spend a lot of time at my house and I love them to pieces. In the last year, I've missed 1 raid with notice, so I truly don't have anything that will interfere with raids.
  11. Thanks for the welcome Now I'm curious..how many females in the guild? In my last 25 man we actually had 8 females, including 2 officers...it was a nice balance to all the testosterone lol.
  12. Character: Cassabry Class/Spec: Protection Paladin (OS: Ret) Name: Kendra Age: 42 years young =) Armory: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/baelgun/Cassabry/advanced UI: http://i233.photobuc.../Screenshot.jpg Logs: http://worldoflogs.c.../3/?s=230&e=649 http://worldoflogs.c...ard/?enc=bosses A little bit about what I'm looking for 2 of my last 3 guilds disbanded and I want nothing more than to find a solid guild to call home for a very long time. The two most important things I'm looking for in a guild are 1) great atmosphere and 2) solid progression. I want to log on everyday to people I enjoy being around. I love a friendly atmosphere, people that are fun to be around, people that truly enjoy the game. I'm also a huge achievement junkie, so fellow junkies are always welcome =) Ideally a group of people that finds as much enjoyment in researching and strategizing between progression nights as they do the face time in front of the boss. I love being around people that genuinely love to raid and enjoy pushing the limits of progression. From everything I've read on your recruitment forum and website, I feel South of Heaven totally matches I'm looking for. I also appreciate and enjoy the responses all the members give on these applications, that really says a lot about the overall personality of the guild. What can I offer you I'm very easy going and as drama free as a person can be. I'm very dedicated – I've missed 2 raid nights in the last 2 years. I love contributing to a guild and being part of a team. I enjoy being part of strategy discussions on the forums during off nights, I'm always running live logs and don't mind being a back up on logs if needed, I've made guild videos and helped with recruitment in the past. I'm always up for running old content if someone needs help with achievements and I'd love to start working on challenge modes soon. I find a 25 man atmosphere more fulfilling and it would be like coming home to be back on a 25 man team. As a raider, I'm focused and won't make the same mistake twice. Although, I may have started trash pulls more than once with my archaeology survey tool on instead of my sacred shield >.> I think my callouts are clear and I'm vocal between pulls if I feel there's something that can be a quick fix. I'm always ready to hop on Ret if needed. Although, my gear is lacking right now, I keep on top of the spec, keep fully gemmed and use the best enchants. I usually run LFR as Ret so I don't get rusty on the rotation. My playstyle, gear, gemming/reforge priorities, etc. I'm a huge fan of Theck over in the paladin theory crafting community. He came up with game changing data sets and sims a few months ago. The TLDR; was hit > hard cap expertise, then it was a toss up between mastery and haste. He ran silly amounts of parses covering countless scenarios, long fights, short fights, burst attacks, spread out attacks, etc and it was so close overall, it really comes down to personal choice. I've chosen haste for the slight boost in DPS it gives and for serious progression, tank DPS totally matters. Gemming started off focusing on stamina and either hit or expertise, but now that I'm at the caps, I'm slowly moving toward haste in my gems. I'm a huge fan of Epeen Bot. If I'm parsing too low on a specific fight, then I know I'm failing at my rotation somehow and I need to fix it, unless it's some crazy strat causing low numbers. It's a great tool in combination with world of logs which I think is the greatest thing since the invention of chocolate. Although, chocolate is still better After every raid, one of the first things I'll check on WoL's is boss up time and CD usage. If either is low, it gives me something to work on next time I raid. I'm also one for geeking it up for hours trying to extrapolate data..such as spending too many countless hours trying to figure out the overheals during Yor'sahj progression. Before MoP launched I had made a whole new set of weak auras to incorporate new abilities like Sacred Shield and Holy Avenger. But I found it horribly awkward in practice and my logs were showing poor usage and my Epeen scores were really low. So I revamped everything to a much simpler weak aura set up and my usage on everything shot up. To me, it's that constant feeling of wanting to improve. MoP brought a lot of personal choices for each fight with the new talents and glyphs. I do spend time a lot of time thinking about the best set up for a fight. A few examples are Hand of Purity for Stoneguards and Feng, Speed of Light for Zor'lok and Ta'yak, Long Arm of the Law for Sha (awesome for grabbing bubbles on the platform), glyphed holy wrath for the adds on Elegon and Tsulong. Guild History There's been a few guilds I've joined along that way that turned out to be poor fits, but my primary history includes: Axiom – Icecrown (Sept 2010 – May 2011) – Great guild with amazing people, but they disbanded during T11 11/12H Icecrown 6/13H Blood Sweat and Tiers – Destromath (Sept 2011 – May 2012) – Another great guild with a lot of good people, I was just ready for much more solid progression 6/7H T12 8/8H T13 Full Spectrum – Alleria (May 2012- October 2012) – I joined a second raiding team they put together primarily for MoP that sadly disbanded shortly in to the expansion. 6/6 MSV and 2/6 HoF 2/6H MSV Currently in Taint on Baelgun – They're a brand new guild and we've taken down 16/16 normal, 1 heroic in about 3 weeks so far. Extra There's very few guilds I see that match the whole package of what I'm looking for and SoH most definitely does. I see you've gotten a lot of interest in the tank spot and if things don't work out now, I'd love to be considered down the road if a spot did open up.
