  1. I'm going to set you up with Guest access for now. Please feel free to peruse boards and post as you please. You're already registered on mumble and can move about freely (although I caution you not to interrupt FF when they're raiding! lol). Some folks also make use of the boards chat option while they're at work, which of course you are welcome to do as well if you wish.

    Cya later!

  2. Hi Wystler! Glad you made it to our forums :)

I'm sure folks will ask you a few odd questions, so I'll get them started...

What would you prefer -  to see the Aurora Borealis, or visit Cambodia? Cats or dogs? or something more exotic? Hard liquor or beer/wine? Pizza or peonies?

  3. Helloooooo :)

Some folks are still playing but we're like the GW2 diaspora now it seems. Others may wish to play the expansion but are offput by the cost for such a small patch (myself included). Hopefully we'll see you around -- keep checking in now and again.... you never know which game we'll play next!

    :)

  4. For those of you who are bored and looking around for something to do, Aion has made a lot of significant changes, and there's more on the way.

1 - Fast Track Server. Remember the endless leveling grind? It's gone. You can level a toon from 0-56 entirely on FTS and do it in just a few days. (16-21 happens in under an hour in a solo instance called Haramel). Also, there's no fear of errant gankage on FTS, which is a mega-server that combines all NA servers into one. If you want PvP at lower levels, you must switch channels to the regular server.

56 to level cap (65) is slower, of course, but there is so much new content (for now), you hardly notice.

2 - End-game content has been expanded to include a metric crap ton of instances, some of which are solo and earn AP.

3 - The next big patch is going to alter the game content drastically in that NC is eliminating 2 end-game zones. They've taken a page from GW2 such that a foe's attempt for world domination actually results in a changed world. The way(s) in which they're replacing the defunct content has not yet been revealed.

4 - Returning players get a Fatebound Abbey Stone -- a super-sweet nifty little item that lasts for 30 days. In the Abbey (located in Panda if you're Asmo) there is a portal hub, also very much like GW2. The NPCs offer special quests which will allow you to purchase end-game [Ancient Coin] gear for half the normal price (that alone is worth logging in for, trust me). You are also given a box containing a set of very nice (lvl 46?) armor that is used as a trade-in when you have all of your Ancient Coins ready to make a purchase. Again... you have 30 days to do it so chop-chop!

5 - Israphel remains the lower pop server and still suffers from Elyos imbalance. That said, NC hungers for folks to roll Asmo on Israphel so much, they give shit away at an amazing pace -- every 5 levels you get free armor pieces, weapons and scrolls, heal/mana pots, etc. Israphel remains the only server I play on and right now, the influence ratio is nearly 50/50 ^^

That's a quick run-down but it's hardly exhaustive. The point I want to focus on is this: IF you have any interest in playing again, either solo or with a group, now is the time. Don't wait until the new patch rolls out b/c you'll miss some of the fun.

Holler if you have any questions... I play as often as I'm able ^^

  5. Welcome Red!

As you've no doubt guessed (or seen by now), SoH is a multi-year, multi-game community. We've been an active and lively lot for over a decade now, so you're in for a treat!

Although we do have numerous folks who consider themselves 'hardcore,' our benchmark for them, as well as all newcomers is whether or not they're good people who are a good fit. Since we play so many different titles, SoH is all about the people! That's how we ensure quality and consistency across games.

Midri et al will take excellent care of you! I look forward to gaming with you and getting to know you (as soon as real life lets me)

    :)
