  1. Hi Frank! Good luck with your new baby, you're a braver man than I haha. Can you give us some more info on what ships you can fly and what fleet experience you have? I had no sov null experience when I started with SOHCO six months ago, so lack of experience won't necessarily hold you back.  I did ask many dumb questions during that time, so be prepared to ask questions you'll laugh about in retrospect haha!

  2. Cool, a fellow punk fan! Based on your age, I'm guessing we both spent our formative years listening to Rancid, NoFX, etc.? Related, I'm going to my first Me First and the Gimme Gimmes concert in April, 20 years late and super excited haha. Hope to talk to you in game soon!

Your FC warps your fleet right on top of an arty cane fleet, you notice they all start locking up your osprey.  How do you react when over comms you hear Oshri say, 'thank Bob it's not me this time!'?

Haha poor Oshri, we did jump those canes like a pack of rabid dogs though :D

  3. You're definitely not alone in having a tough time finding a corp (or a guild in any MMO really). I'm convinced that it mostly comes down to luck and willingness to make some modest compromises in what you want out of the game. On stability: We're about as stable as you can get in Eve in terms of players and organization. But that can only get you so far. It's still entirely possible, if unlikely, for NC/PL to decide tomorrow that they want to expand their renter empire into Branch. If that ever happens, well, there goes our secure little corner of the North!

  4. Hi Nightjar, it sounds like you would fit right in with us! Look forward to flying with you.

I can definitely see how ratting in provi could be painful. In fact, we've been doing our best to make it painful once or twice a week haha.

You're down with a good drunk roam, that's excellent news! I have to ask what your drink of choice would be. Contrary to our corp's ticker, we're not down with the southern comfort, so choose your answer carefully...😁

  5. I couldn't fly a whole lot when I first came out. The fact that you have some missile skills and caldari cruiser V is good, you're well ahead of me when I came out to Branch in terms of being able to contribute DPS in our shield doctrines. The EWAR options can be really fun. I got on a Dread kill in a Maalus on my very first null sec coalition fight.  But like Ashin said, you do end up training everything. There's some painful training that you really need to do if you're fitting skills aren't up to snuff. Most of our serious doctrine loadouts have tight fitting requirements. Four months later I can fly probably 2/3rds of our doctrine ships, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't take skill injector shortcuts.

  6. o/ Dmitri, I look forward to flying with you! I've got a pop quiz related to Hotsync's PVP roam question.

Say your novice FC gets the fleet trapped in a choke point and there's a 50 man Provi gang on the other side of your only gate out. Do you:

    A) Die gloriously with your compatriots.

    B) Peace out/safe log

    C) Announce yourself as a Provi spy

    D) Lead a mutiny, headshot FC

  7. I was exactly the opposite. I loved this at release, when it was basically a four player multiplayer game for me and my guild friends. I had a great time with the chance based dialog in dungeons. Somehow I always won the important rolls with the opposite outcome from what my friends wanted. Good times. The game died for me when people started only caring about the grind (to be fair, that's true of lots of mmos).

I originally started playing back in Jan. '14 and mostly flew with outfits in Providence. In that time, I amassed a series of Indy and PVP characters for specific purposes and am looking forward to having my tribe contribute to the cause. I have the capacity to support industry in terms of production (1), logistics (freighters, 2), PI(2), and my traders(4) have the collective capacity to concurrently manage 1000+ market orders with the lowest possible overhead. I have a total of 6 characters and ISK is not an issue for me as I have multiple income streams from activities above.

Damn that's alot! The most I've ever had going at once is 300ish, and I could barely keep up. There's plenty of PvP to be had out our way, we look forward to shooting stuff with you!

  9. Welcome fellow marketeer! Part of the SOHCO price of admission is revealing all your trade secrets to the SOHCO Market Cabal. Please send them to @Simone in an itemised list starting with the most profitable.

Kidding! Just kidding!  I am curious though about what markets you work. I dabbled in inter-regional hi-sec trading, but marketeering didn't really click for me until I got to Branch.

  10. Cool man sounds good! Disc golf is definitely a niche sport, you are not the first person to have to idea what I'm talking about. It's basically frisbee plus golf using specialized discs that you throw at baskets from 200-400 ft away. Courses in PA are usually wooded,  great if you like hiking too.

I revise my answer on RHCP/Give It Away. I expected slap from Flea and he doesn't play any on that song. I'm kind of messing around with line in between typing this, its not super complicated.

Also I missed the SWTOR question earlier. I was on a PVP server at launch and Ebon Hawk after the big server merger, Republic side for both. Mostly played Scoundrel, Commando and Sage (healers woo, that's usually what I play in themeparks). Didn't like the Sage all that much.

  11. Let's see if I can get all these responses out before lunch is over :)

    Welcome to the forums!

GW2 WvW! Which server? Zerg, Roam, or Solo? Favorite class & build? - I played on TC and mained engineer most of the time. Really liked engi, mostly bomb or grenade builds (sometimes both!). Wish the flamethrower was better (maybe it is now, dunno how it is post expansion). Didn't solo much, pretty much split time between big zerg and roaming. Usually preferred roaming, but it server population made that hard to pull of at peak times (too many blobs).

Also, what did/do you play in FFXIV? Scholar - I got midway through the expansion storyline but kinda got tired of everything being gated behind the story arc. Loved doing dungeons in the pre expansion stuff.

Philly or Pittsburgh? Split the difference, I'm in Harrisburg :)

    Hello potential space friend!

We had a really great GW2 chapter for a few years after launch, I spent WAAAAY too many hours of my life commanding in WvW. Random questions time!

Have any crazy wormhole stories? Nothing super crazy, clueless newbie stuff though. The idea of scanning hidden stuff down drew me into Eve, so I went straight into that when I started playing. So I'm out scanning and immediately find a wormhole. Of course it was, because it's highsec and all the other sigs get scanned right away. Didn't know that at the time. Anyway, I see this thing and think, cool what's on the other side? Hop in, warp away from the hole to a planet, and immediately realize I left my probes in hisec. Fortunately for me, this wormhole had an occupant who responded to my desperate local chats with helpful advice "you're stuck here, you have to kill yourself."

Can you play the bass line from The Red Hot Chili Peppers "Give It Away"? Probably not, my slap/pop is pretty weak. It's like learning how to write with your opposite hand for me. Haven't worked much on it yet.

If you had to turn into an animal, which one would it be? Probably a parrot. Something with wings anyway.

  12. Hi all,

I had a great chat with Valence last night and think SOH would be an ideal Corp to join. I plan to join if accepted, so I figured I'd drop by with a forum introduction.

I'm Simone and I'm a long time mmo player with a relatively short time in Eve. I've played off and on since 2012, mostly doing hauling and trading. Even though a hauling/trading background usually indicates an hi-sec lifer, I've actually spent most of my time flying through low and wh space. The thrill of not getting caught kept an otherwise boring activity interesting. I'm more interested in killing stuff this time around though!

I've played most of the big theme park MMOs, starting with LOTRO and moving to SWTOR, GW2, and most recently FFXIV. I PVP'd a good bit when SWTOR launched and did WvW almost exclusively in GW2.

During the day, I'm a policy/program development supervisor for Pa state government. When I'm not gaming, I'm usually practicing my Bass or playing disc golf.

I look forward to meeting you all and helping you blow stuff up!
