It's ok with me, Trenttos. What's important is that the guild at large gets to know you. At the end of 30 days, we hold a vote and Veteran and Senior Members vote yes, no or abstain. It's the "abstain" that worries me in that if the voters don't know you or haven't grouped with you enough to get a sense of who you are as a person, they will abstain. 

What I can do is extend the recruit period before the vote by an additional week or so. Hopefully that will give you enough time to make a positive impression and give our members a chance to party with you for WvW, dungeons, Fractals -- whatever

I see that your game time is limited to weekends. Do you normally play during NA prime or during Ocnx? It only matters insofar as I'm trying to help guide you for optimum playtime enjoyment and I never want to set someone up for failure

During the 30-day recruit phase I have 1 primary directive: you must move from stranger to friend. It's certainly do-able over 4 consecutive weekends as long as the player actively engages the guild, ie, says hello, uses /g chat, hangs out in mumble or TS3 and visits with people, joins in on group activities, uses forums, etc. The key to a successful vote is that we've gotten to know each other and there has to be mutual engagement for that to happen ^^

How do you earn your living? What's your favorite thing to do aside from GW2? I think some of us, myself in particular, work over-hard to make sure our gaming environment is as suitable and as pleasant as it can be for our wildly mixed members and sometimes trip over ourselves (and others) in the process. And all I can say about that is it seems to work given that SoH is going on 10 yrs as a stable, relatively drama-free gaming community.

And so, again I thank you for your clarity and your willingness to handle stuff head-on ^^

First off, let me warn you, lol. We sometimes have a penchant for nicknames. Red Rasmussen became "Blue" and Maverick Dangerzone is known now as "Kenny Loggins" -- I suspect your name might be abbreviated, lol, although to what I'm not sure ^^

It's too bad you've had issues in GW2, but Toobz is right: having a knowledgeable group of people around to assist is an enormous help. We're happy to teach you how to fish, so to speak, but we won't fish for you

Hey Darish -- we were grouped for marionette. I'm glad you found your way here Sargon's brother, right?

I'm told you don't plan on transferring servers, which is of course fine and not really a problem if you don't really care to WvW. I'd mentioned to Griff and Zarath that we could extend you a Mercenary guild invite, which would allow you to join us and tag up for Guild Missions and the odd PvE event. Does that sound like a workable plan to you? I can grant you Guest access to boards and if you realize that a real membership is something you'd prefer, we can move forward with a recruitment period at that time.

Also, what kind of new dog?? Is it a puppy? Can you post pix? What's his/her name?

Lastly, would you rather be serendaded by a monkey in a church, or have your belly rubbed by an alien? ^^

Believe me, I understand the time-limitations that accompany obtaining an advanced degree (or 2 ^^) and I respect and appreciate what you're putting yourself through; however, SoH has a rather rigorous 30-day recruit period in which we require our prospective members to be fairly active. Our primary objective is that you move from stranger to friend in that time, and that we're able to glean if we're both a good match for each other. Infrequent activity usually means new players won't make it through the voting process.

If you think you'll be able to give us 3-4 evenings per week for 4 weeks, then Recruit status it is. If not, then may I suggest Mercenary status in game?  It allows me to tag you with a few restrictions: 1) you only wear the SoH tag when you're with an SoH group and 2) you read and sign to our Code of Conduct.

I offer this as an option for some folks and it's worked out well; some have even moved on to become Members.

For now, I'll set you up on forums as a Guest so you can read the CoC and make use of the resources here.
