  1. I got no issues with it, consider me signed up
  2. I find it kind of funny that everyone who doesn't live in Portland talks about how amazing it is but then the people who live there hate the people who live there (at least that's how it sounds)
  3. Keep on the good soda fight, Don't listen to dem nay sayers!
  4. Maybe I just got stuck with a bunch of horrible guides taking us places. I could also be trying to compare it to when I got to go to China which was absolutely amazing
  5. Don't move to Spain. Went there for school for a month and all I can say is the people I met in Barcelona and Madrid were incredibly rude. Its a pretty country don't get me wrong. They can just smell out a foreigner better than a bloodhound on a convict are well versed at harassing them. The markets for food was fun and we did meet some nice people but it was definitely the rare circumstance.
  6. I wouldn't say she is docile at all, she is very active. She isn't agressive though is how I would put it. I've worked with a whole host of different birds ranging from small guys you can find in any pet store, birds of prey, parrots, and even ostriches. Right now I'm working with eastern screech owls, rainbow lorikeets (if you haven't seen one check it out cause they are so dang colorful they look fake), senegal parrots, doves, and a congo african grey parrot (same kind as Alex the PArrot). The african grey is a complete and total ham and is too smart for his own good. He knows how to fake being sick so that he doesn't have to go out and see people (how I assume a few of us online gamers can be at times). Also every day when you shut the lights off he says "see ya later". If you have to come back into the building after he has told you goodbye he gets super pissed and holds a grudge for a few days. As far as what class jumps out at me the most I'd have to go with stalker tank. I've always gravitated to stealthies in games and have enjoyed tanking in other games so that's the number one that I will have. I'm the kind of player that will probably have three toons that I keep geared in usually all the roles. With that being said I currently plan to have a stalker (tank or dps as main spec), a medic (heal MS), and a engineer (tank MS). I've also played around with the idea of a DPS esper and enjoy the play style but seeing as a lot of their hard hitting spells require a charge up with no motion it has made me question the viability of them in raids where it seems like movement will be constant.
  7. Yes, that is Mufasa and he's my buddy. I helped resuce him when i interned and now volunteer at an exotic animal sanctuary. The animals I want to bring home the most are our dingoes. The best thing is when you go on break and spend the 15 minutes with them. You go in and lay in their hay beds with them and make what we call "puppy piles" and crash for a little bit. Hedgehogs can make good pets if you know what you are getting into. they only live 2-6 years on average and are nocturnal (although they can be conditioned to come out during they day). They can be litterbox trained but they still will poop when running on their wheel. This then travels around and falls getting skewered onto their spikes. Weekly baths are usual too keep them clean (some hedgies more and some less often). Their food has to be ordered online as pet stores don't carry it and all in all vet care for them is limited because the knowledge base just isn't there yet. As for dogs i have an Australian Shepherd (10 yrs old) and a Belgian Shepherd (14 yrs old). I've heard it and every iteration of the saying before so go for it, I've got thick skin! no........ no you really can't lol It all depends on the institution, their accreditation, and handling limitations. The highest level of accreditation is AZA which allows no free contact with dangerous animals. What you see in my picture is protected contact (there is a fencing barrier). I was taught in a manner of one day how to "pet" him but it would only be on his terms. Since he has bonded with me he will take any attention I can give him. With that being said most lions aren't as affectionate as him. He is a little "special" and has brain damage. He had oxygen deprivation as a cub (died on the table during surgery and was resuscitated). Its more knowing the animals individual personality more than a set training. As for feeding thats simple as they are locked out when you feed, leave the area, lock it up, let them in to eat. The hard part for many (doesn't bother me) is butchering the roadkill deer for his food. All animals of a species will have similar traits in behaviors but they all have very distinct personalities. Many people would argue they are similar but the more you work with them the more different they become. similar to how people lump groups of people together based on a stereotype. Snake personalities aren't quite as vast as that of "higher" animals but they definitely are there. Some many have unique quirks about only eating when their food is placed in a certain spot (we do dead feedings) or they may only want to be held close to a body or further away. Some come to people to be handled while others will try to hide. We have a Kenya Sand Boa that hates one of the keepers. We think its due to the amount of awful cologne he wears. She will try to strike him whenever he cleans her enclosure My favorite one that I talk about with guests the that some snakes have a 6th sense. Many families of snakes have heat pits allowing them to sense heat. So what you may say, I can touch a stove and know if its hot. Well that's using your sense of touch. You can' be on the opposite side of the room and tell if its hot by looking that direction. We don't truly know how it works as we don't have the sense. We assume it works like infrared where warm shows up different than cold. But trying to understand it from such a simple definition would be like trying to explain the color green........... to a blind person. Or what a piano sounds like........... to someone deaf. Without the sense understanding it is basically impossible. We just know that the snakes with these primarily hunt warm blooded animals. Since the body temperature of the animal is going to be warmer than the air around it, they can sense the animal, even in the dark. Its kind of amazing if you think about it. Snakes also do not have ear drums. For a while scientists thought that meant they couldn't hear. Tricky buggers figured out how to pick up the vibrations in the air and ground through their jaw and interpret that into sound. After all it made no sense for snakes to have holes on the side of their head. It would get packed with substrate (dirt, sand, etc) and they can't pick it out with their imaginary fingers. All in all animals are a lot cooler than people. We think of our senses as being amazing but really they are lacking. Dogs can hear better and smell better. Many birds can see farther. Butterflies can see ultraviolet wavelengths. Heck there are colors we can't even imagine. Every color we see if the combination of 3 because of the rods and cones in our eyes (we have a lot of them but only 3 types). The mantis shrimp has 7. Just let that soak in. That little shrimp can see more colors than you. You can't even imagine the colors it sees as any color you can make is a combination of the original 3. now take that and add four more base colors and then combine the 7 into an infinitesimal number. Nature is truly jaw dropping when you step back and look at it from all angles. Keep the questions coming =P
  8. Ok, lets try and wade through the sea of inquiries! 1) Depends on the day, I have 4 cats and 2 dogs. My favorite pet I've had though were my hedgehogs 2) I pride myself on my ability to make really good food. Most people think im great with a microwave but they haven't really seen me behind a range. 3) You can judge my style all you want, I promise to give you a lot to talk about seeing as style is something I lack. 4) Do I have to choose one? =( I guess I'll have to go with Ole Smoky Apple Pie Moonshine 5) Ahhhh the old Fermat's Last Theorem. Well rather than me type it all out I'll send you to a link I was given back in school explaining it. http://arxiv.org/ftp/math/papers/9810/9810027.pdf The zoo I'm at has roughly 1500 animals at any given time. My favorite animals are African lions but that's not my favorite animal there. Even though the zoo I'm at has African Lions, I love our Javan Gibbons. Mostly because we are lucky to have them. If memory serves me correct (numbers may have changed since i last heard this), my zoo is only one of two AZA accredited zoos allowed to breed the endangered animal in the US. Only 6 have been born at accredited zoos world wide and two of them have been at our zoo. That's why they hold a special place in my heart. As cruel as it sounds, I think it should of been pushed back into the sea. Nature is a cruel bitch but she knows what shes doing. The strong survive and the weak perish. That's where we as people have become a weak species. If the seal had to get a place to rest then it probably wasn't strong enough to survive. In a sense it helped contribute to weaker genes making it to further generations. Plus human interaction with wild animals should be kept at a minimum because now it may feel that humans are a good thing and when it jumps onto another boat it might not be so lucky. Now that I'm off my animal soapbox I'll say it was probably pretty damn cute, I need to find the video. On a daily basis the largest one I work with is a 7 ft Indigo Snake but I have worked with 20 ft. Burmese Pythons. Snakes get a bad rap, they really are a lot of fun and do have personalities.
  9. Hello everyone, I'm shooting this out here for you guys as my Wildstar application. I was found on the wildstar forums by Zach while looking for a guild. I'm Forrest. I go by it, Etoro, or Moose which are both names i usually use in games. I'm no stranger to MMO's as I've played everything ranging from UO, EQ, WoW, swotr, warhammer, and countless other similar games. I've always considered myself a semi-hardcore player. I love seeing endgame content but in no way am I an elitist that has to see it first. That takes the fun outta it and it is a game afterall. As far as class/race I'm pretty open to doing whatever the guild needs to fill raid spots! I'm a 24 year old guy who has a great job working at the zoo. I do to hang out with exotic animals all day and use them to teach kids! If you have any questions feel free to ask, I'm an open book.
