A hearty hello to all of South of Heaven,

Who am I?

First and foremost I'm a proud 20 year old (21 in July) Canadian Male earning his degree in Integrated Science (focusing of Physics) at McMaster University. I will be writing the LSAT on the 10th of June, then I'll be writing the MCAT at the end of the summer. I think I will probably be going to Med School in about a years time, but right now I'm doing research in the soft matter physics world (polymer physics for anyone interested). School and my eventual career are very important to me, but I manage my time well enough and enjoy my time raiding.

Who am I in the WoW Universe?

I am Thuzada and I've been playing a rogue my entire wow career.

Here is how I am currently bedecked: http://us.battle.net.../Thuzada/simple I have 2.5k Valor banked up for upgrades as well as 6 Mogu Runes of Fate

Here is a link to my old guild's WoL account for a full picture of my performance, although admittedly much of that is not my 100% best performance at all times: http://www.worldoflo.../guilds/151756/

Here is a link to what I think is one of my better nights of raiding (I was brought in at Ji Kun): http://worldoflogs.c...j2dmbf7wuleef5/

I am a very strong raider, I maximize my survival by using DBM, I maximize my DPS by using Weak_Auras, and I maximize my dedication to Blizzard by sticking with the default UI.

I love the Subtlety spec, it is going to make its comeback in the upcoming patch (gear scaling, buffs, ambush from the front <- oh please make that happen) and I'm ready for it. However, out of necessity, I am also extremely proficient with the Assassination flavour of Rogue. I know all of the ins and outs of pulling off the best DPS possible. Obviously I bring 300 Food, Potions, and Flasks along to every raid.

What is my raiding history

I started the raiding game way back in Wrath, but never really got anywhere, then Cata hit and real-life me went to University and I stopped raiding. I started back up towards the end of 4.3 with the sole purpose of saving the last uncorrupted child of deathwing from the red dragonflight and started my own raid team. We were pretty casual, but we did end up clearing full heroic before MoP hit (maybe a week before it hit) plus I ended up earning my daggers a month before the expansion dropped. I bounced around a bit after some guild drama causing the breakup of our once-proud group and then landed in my current home; Peon Culture. We are the epitome of hardcore casual, raiding only two nights per week, but still managing to progress, (ended 5/6 6/6 0/4 H) we wrapped up raiding seriously about a month ago and were 4/13H and moving well towards both a Horridon and a Primordius kill.

What is your most epic story that will showcase your dedication to the kill? (disclaimer, this is just a fun story and isn't fully necessary to the application)

Was that a contrived question? Definitely, but I have to tell the story at some point. Back when HoF was still a thing we were working so hard on killing H Empress, now we raid usually on Mondays and another weekday, but this week we only had the Monday to clear everything and kill the final boss. Well, things didn't exactly line up right, we were continuously wiping to various mechanics, trying everything we could. We kept getting closer and closer, eventually making it to the third phase but still wiping. The damage was just too intense and we were getting burned out. It was probably 3am by this point, two hours after the raid was supposed to end. We decided to try one last resort (the servers were going to shut down in an hour or so) and bring in an undergeared alt to 3 tank it. In roughly three attempts we managed to get the kill on literally the last attempt we could possibly have made. During that last attempt we got the SERVER SHUTDOWN IN 15:00 warning about 3 minutes into the fight, finished with about 4 minutes left before the servers restarted and ToT started. I am getting goosebumps typing this out.

Why South of Heaven?

Well I've been creeping this forum for a while now, ever since one of our cornerstone raiders had to move (losing internet connection in the process) there has been talk of our guild disbanding. I saw a post in guild recruitment, followed it to the main post and you immediately stuck out as a guild I wanted to a part of. Three nights a week is just right for my current personal needs. This quote in particular grabbed my attention:

We need personality. I've just gotten home from a 12 hour workday, I'm famished, and now I'm going to spend 3 hours with you. You need to be fun, or this won't work.

Basically I want the same thing, somewhere fun, with a good group of people to enjoy my time spent playing a video game (an awesome one at that). With that fun/casual aspect in mind, I am also driven to progression and really enjoy playing hard, min/maxing, and working together to kill the next heroic boss, even if it means wiping for hours.

I hope you've enjoyed the read, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Thuz, glad to see your post. I won't have much time to go over everything like I normally would as I'm out of town for business and strapped for time. I'm sure Ashin and the rest of the gang will be along shortly and make you feel more welcome.

Ha that's a really good question Tiny. In Canada they have been really pushing for med students that aren't doing the biochem route, like english majors and music students (though not many do well enough on the MCAT). I also really like physics and chose to take most of my classes in that area, partially because I think its more interesting than the other sciences and partially because I'm better at it than the other sciences :p This polymer work is my summer job that will mold into my thesis work next year.

Thanks for the welcome Raer, don't worry too much about going over everything at light speed, I've waited this long to even apply I can wait a while longer.

I guess I do have one question for you guys though, is there room on your roster for another melee DPS, specifically another rogue? I know that Daed's application was successful, just wondering if three rogues might be too many.

Hey there Thuz,

I know you had been creeping for a while and exchanged a few PM's with me. I'm glad to see your application, and that you took some time to put forward a thoughtful one.

As you observed, we indeed accepted Daed on a trial period. Unfortunately I do not believe there is room on the current roster for three rogues, as we already have a fairly agi/leather heavy comp. Likewise, we are currently in the final stretch of our progression, and so it is a difficult time to take in new folks regardless.

What does that mean? First, Daed is still undergoing his trial period, so you can feel free to keep dialog with us and I would certainly give your app consideration if he does not work out for some reason. Second, there will be roster changes after ToT is cleared but before the final raid tier, and it's always possible that those changes may create an opening for you as well. In short, I'd encourage you to keep in touch and monitor us, but I cannot offer you a trial right this moment. I will set you up as a Guest to further satisfy your creeping.

Hey Ashin,

That's unfortunate, I was really looking forward to running with you folks. I suppose it doesn't make sense to trial two rogues at once then? I don't mind taking things easy for the rest of the tier, but I'd also really like to prove myself to you guys before the next patch hits to maybe earn a place. Maybe I could come in for occasional farm content? If you're really set on no more rogues/agi-leather then I guess there's nothing I can do other than wait for a spot to open up.

Hello,

If you were looking forward to it then I wish you'd have app'd when we first spoke instead of waiting! :p

Including Daed, we have two rogues already, as well as a ww monk and soon a feral (our bear plans to go cat next tier). If I bring in more melee I'd be more inclined to get some plate. But, as I said, our roster is always evolving, so its possible that everything I just typed will be untrue in a few weeks.

As for trialing two players at the same time for the same spot, we have generally refrained from doing that. We think it is a bit more cutthroat than the environment we normally foster, so generally if I take multiple trials I do so prepared to accept all of them (if they all earn their place). I'd be upset if I had to kick someone who had earned his place just because of class or gearing, so I try to avoid situations that would potentially put me in that situation.

Absolutely, I wish I had applied earlier too, its just that we weren't sure about our monk healer completely losing all access, that was only confirmed the day I applied :(

Well I understand where you're coming from, I wouldn't feel the greatest about such a cut-throat trial either.

Thanks for your time considering me, if things change with your roster, or if you decide three rogues could work, let me know (we're going to be even better next tier :D).
