You can read up on info about why DirectSound stopped working after Vista and the tricks that SB uses to try to keep it working. But Asus cards do it better and with less bloatware - so the reviewers say. Happy with mine but took some work to set up right.

I am using onboard because my crappy Creative Labs one blew. I can't get Win7 to recognize both the rear jacks and the front jacks simultaneously, so it is pissing me off. So I am not certain that a sound card will resolve the issue...but it *should*. I really hate Windows' sound management. It could be related to the issue you posted, Ashin. So I'll look into it. Thanks!
