Hello SoH,

I have met a few of you here and there and look forward to meeting more. I've been playing games practically forever. I've recently started working on learning different aspects of programming and 3d design in an effort to create my own games. Currently I am spending a lot of time playing with a small game engine for rpg games.(rpg maker)  My wife and I come on here mainly to play with my RL friend Pride and his wife Vanity.

Happy gaming.

Hey Vespara and thanks for the intro.

Tell us a bit more about yourself. What programming languages are you learning? 3D software? We have a number of folks among us who do design.

What games do you play? What have you played? How often do you play? Do you like WvW? PvE? PvP?

Thanks,

Huntyre / Cary

We'll be asking you additional questions here in an attempt to get to know you better. Also, making you return to boards is good training because we rely on this forum a LOT for communication and need for you to get into the habit of checking it frequently ^^

Anyway, please take a moment to give us a bit more information. The folks above have asked some questions and I'm curious (game design fascinates me).

Talk soon!

I'm learning / have quit learning C#, C++, ActionScript, XNA, HTML/ XHTML and currently am working on Ruby in the form of RGSS3 for RPG Maker VX Ace. Last year when I was going to college our new born had to stay in the hospital for 2 months because of 2 open heart surgeries. Was a pretty "fun" time for a while. I quit going to school because I just couldn't keep up and have come to realize I didn't like programming so haven't gone back. I had 2 classes in Maya which I learned more from watching tutorial's onlline, so I don't put much stock in my talents there.(http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/650/7zvi.jpg) If you want to see what my final project looked like for Maya.

I in general play a lot of xbox games. Lately though I've been pretty absorbed in creating a game in RPG Maker. Someday maybe I'll try to do my own scripts for it but for now there's a pretty great community full of dedicated programmers that enjoy the challenge the game making creates for them. So there are tons of scripts out to use freely. GW2 I mainly play on the weekends. And only in WvW. I find the PvE environment a snooze fest. I did the story and it doesn't really change that much so to me the game is beat I guess.

Hiya Vespara!

I myself use programs like maya, 3dsmax, etc. We'll have to collab on something at some point :p I used rpg maker when i was much younger and made my own version of legend of zelda, but with scifi elements, its a pretty snazzy program.

What made you wanna do design?

Welcome to the forums!

I've only really barely touched Maya, plus I think my install is foobarred. I kind of used a collaberation of programs when doing my school work I found that different 1's suited me more for different tasks. I have used Blender, Maya, Photo Shop, Adobe Flash Pro CS5.5, Unity Engine, UDK, Zbrush and of course Maya. Which amounts to a lot of general knowledge with no expertise lol.

Vespara --

Thank you for responding; they do, indeed, help us to know you better.

I get that the PvE here isn't your thing, but that you've enjoyed the WvW aspect of the game. We have guild scheduled WvW runs almost every night (except Sun & Tues) and one on Sat. morning. So, as a guild, we're fairly WvW focused.

About how many hours a week would you say you play GW2? I ask b/c our recruitment process asks that you have enough activity to move from stranger to friend in 30 days, after which there is a vote. Rest assured, though, that many of our members are "lifers" and have played, do play and will play practically any pixilated game ever made, lol.
