  1. South of Heaven has a presence in EVE Online of about 15 active members. In the beginning we were comprised entirely of SoH veterans from prior chapters, but we have begun to regularly replenish our ranks with high-quality recruits. Our pilots activity levels range from multiple hours per day to only a few hours per week, and are centered in the US time zone. Since the chapter was established in January 2015, we have experienced several flavors of New Eden, to include high-security space and a month living out of a wormhole POS. We are currently a member of Blades of Grass, living in the Branch region of null sec space. We are primarily a PvP corp, and we strongly encourage participation in corp, alliance & coalition PvP fleets. FCs from within the corp run about two fleets per week for the alliance, on Wednesdays and Fridays. On Mondays we usually run a relaxed mining operation to give everyone a chance to socialize, discuss EVE's current events, and contribute to the corp's industrial well-being. For additional information, please refer to our official recruitment post.
  2. You have indeed answered the questions with aplomb. I'm Tyrlis, the EVE Chapter Lead (in-game names are all variations of TBert). I'm going to set your forum rank to 'Recruit' and send an invite in-game, where your rank will be set to 'Mail Clerk'. There are a few things we need you to do! 1. Get Mumble set up : http://www.sohguild....1-voice-server/ 2. Read and sign our Code of Conduct : http://www.sohguild....ode-of-conduct/ 3. If you get in a reading mood, there's plenty of great posts in our policy & leadership board : http://www.sohguild....icy-leadership/
  3. Reading is going to be your best course of action for just about every question you come up with. Even the most minor topic can lead to hours of research and reading just to get a basic understanding. However, if you're getting tired of reading or just want further advice after you've done your research, please feel free to ask. As far as basic training exercises, just come to our ops and ask questions, we'll answer them as they come up. Nobody will get mad at you.
  4. Welcome! Should we call you Ben? Benner? Benners? Question time! What other MMOs did you play? What do you enjoy doing outside of games? Where-ish do you live? What's your favorite non-MMO game of all time?
  5. Internet will be on tonight, but no computer until Thursday. At least I was named class leader for the first two weeks, that should keep me busy. I'll have a lot of forums catching up to do this weekend.

  6. Uncle Pancakes! Welcome. IGN TBert/TBette here. You'll find that the 3-teen doesn't get any better. I've got 3 daughters, 5, 7, and 14... they're fun to deal with. You'll be happy to hear we have a very active raiding contingent in FFXIV, if you're ever interested in crossing over and trying that out. So you're a DOD civ? Steve (Overkill) and I are active duty Army, and we have a few other veterans kicking around in here somewhere. Glad to have you. I'm going to set your forum rank to 'Recruit' and send an invite in-game, where your rank will be set to 'Mail Clerk'. There are a few things we need you to do! 1. 7. When I initially started out as Chapter Lead for EVE, I thought as a small chapter we'd be able to skate by without designating any GOs. But EVE is so complex that Jae, Elend, and Steve (Overkill) have become more involved than I initially expected. And they deserve a title for that. So I'd like to congratulate the three of them on their ascendance to Game Officer!
  8. Trion : 10:30 AM PDT: Hey all, just to update you: Tahyang, for the time being, is going to remain offline as our team investigates the root cause. The last thing we want is to bring it back online and have it lost again. This also means that we do not have an estimate of when Tahyang will be back up. Thanks for your patience!

      Ashin

Offline indefinitely - figures its on the one day per week that I can game!

  9. Hi there! I'm so glad you've decided to apply for the guild. What is it about games that you enjoy? What do you like to do outside of gaming? What part of Italy are you from? My wife has several aunts that live in Italy, we really want to travel there some time.
  10. 1500 players in queue. I'll be on AA... later...

  11. I've lived a lot of places (a military career will do that) but the only thing I've ever done in Des Moines is drive through at 80mph in the middle of the night. We went through there for family trips between Denver and my original home in WI. My kids loooove Adventure Time, we have random outbreaks of LSP quotes.
  12. Hey man, thanks for applying! You'll find that we're much, much more patient and willing to teach than 99.9% of the pug dungeoneers you'll find out there. We could probably knock out your silver dungeons in a couple nights. I'm in the same boat as you with the significant other (wife in my case) that appreciates geek culture but only tolerates gaming. I still fondly dream of the day she decides to game with me... What part of the country do you live in? Not trying to stalk you, just curious.
  13. The South of Heaven Guild Wars 2 Chapter is an unofficial chapter residing on the Dragonbrand server. We have regular pickup dungeon runs, weekly guild missions, and multiple weekly WvW events. Our WvW events primarily consist of havoc groups or joining with larger guilds with whom we work well. Due to our unofficial status, our members are allowed to join other guilds in order to participate in ZvZ if they so desire. Our recruiting is currently referral-only, which means that a current member will need to sponsor you as part of your application, and it's that member's responsibility to help you integrate into the guild during your recruit process. This is not because we have too many people; it's simply because as a casual chapter, we may not have a very active calendar and might not have enough opportunities for recruits to meet members. With a history stretching back across two years and three servers, the GW2 Chapter has been respected and liked wherever we go, and we intend to continue that way.
  14. Don't forget GW2 folks, meeting in Mumble tonight at 7 ET!

  15. Hi there Arcanais! Glad to see your app. I also played a resto druid in WoW, but only Vanilla through most of Naxx and AQ40... You're right that we're more easygoing than that, the WS raid schedule for a fulltime raider is 3 nights a week 3 hours a night. Where is Camp Bisco? If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
  16. from me, that's a serious wall 'o text.
  17. Hi there! Astronos should've helped you out a bit more with your app! We expect a lot from our members, and your app is your very first impression on all of us. Could you flesh it out a little bit? What other games have you played? What do you do outside of gaming? Where are you from?
  18. Hi! We have lots of members with families (I have 4 kids myself). Congratulations on the soon to arrive boy! Last night when you posted this, everyone was doing their Sunday night Raid Prep Vet dungeons, trying to get silver+ runs. So that's why it might seem nobody answered. I'm also one of the late 50s, just hit 48 today.
  19. Whoops, I knew I forgot a link! Our weekly schedule is at http://www.sohguild.com/index.php?/topic/12108-newly-updated-weekly-events-pvx-71014/
  20. How does mechanical engineering differ from industrial engineering? I deployed with a guy that had an industrial engineering degree and he could never solve any problem that you would think an engineer would excel at... he always said he was basically a math major by a different name. I'm going to set your rank to recruit, which will allow you to access our forums. We talk about much more than just GW2 on these forums, I encourage you to get involved and post. Check out our Code of Conduct, the rules we live by, at http://www.sohguild.com/index.php?/topic/4339-code-of-conduct/. Sign once you've read so we know you 'Get' us. You should also set up Mumble, which we use for voice comms during GMs and occasionally for WvW. Instructions are at http://www.sohguild.com/index.php?/topic/8211-voice-server/ See you out on the borderlands!
  21. There was a round of promotions associated with the release of GW2 Living Story Season Two. Here they are! To Vet Overkill Murmaidyr Mina Ankin Kyo Andy Scorp Valcrist Balgeary To SM Sargon Darish Maverick Oreo Sha Feng Dani
  22. Hi Mesmer! Thanks for coming along to DWvW! Tell us some more about the RL you. What do you do for a living? Where do you live? What do you enjoy outside of gaming? What's your SSN and Mother's Maiden name? (ok you can skip the last question...)
