Hey. Thanks ahead of time for taking the time to read this.

About Me

Well, my name is Paul, and I live up in New England, Connecticut to be specific, the least interesting state in the region and probably the entire United States, but hey, I like it well enough. I'm 24 and have a degree in history, though am currently working in the restaurant business where I've been for many years now. I'm not going to lie and say I enjoy it because it's about as fun as listening to the complete Michael Bolton collection in succession but hey, it pays the bills. I currently live alone and am GF-less so my schedule in general is pretty open. In general, I'm a pretty quiet and laid back person.

I enjoy the outdoors as much as I do being indoors sitting on my ass. I am actually an Eagle Scout and I've enjoyed the pleasure of the great outdoors all my life, I've done all sorts of things. Skiing, kayaking, camping, shooting everything from rifles to handguns, rock climbing.and really enjoy trying new things. I'm god awful at sports, though, I used to play Tennis and I was in a bowling league for a few years but that is about the extent of my ability of playing sports. Doesn't stop me from playing football and basketball with friends from time to time, but yeah, I never had a chance of being on a baseball card.

Aside from that, I have all sorts of little hobbies, I guess. Gaming is an obvious one, I've been playing games since I was three and my dad bought his first PC. Computers and gaming have just been something I've grown up with and has always had a part in my life. I enjoy reading, watching movies/TV and listening to music, particularly classic rock. Really enjoy listening to the Beatles, my favorite band.

My WoW Profile

So I started playing about a month into TBC, after quitting my CS clan I just wanted to take up something different and WoW had been something I had wanted to try, and well, I'm still playing it 6 years later. I was pretty new to the game and though I raided all of t4, ZA, and parts of t5 and t6, I was more or less just learning the game at that point and can't say I have anything really noteworthy to say from TBC. I mean most of that time was a time when I was a clicker that had no idea what Elitist Jerks was, I didn't really know anyone that played so I pretty much figured everything out myself over time.

Notable Experience From TBC

-All of t4 completed

-ZA completed

In Wrath I really wanted to get into the hardcore raiding scene, so I server transferred to where I am now, on Draka. I joined a guild called Unbridled and in less than 3 months I went from a clicking baddie to raid leading a somewhat competitive 25 man guild when our rather flaky RL wasn't around (which was 75% of the time, and later two 10 mans simultaneously). I do so all the way up to ICC, where I primarily quit 25 man raiding and stuck to 10s to kind of finish up school, plus all that raid leading was kind of a lot.

Notable Experience From Wrath

-All normal content from all 4 tiers in both 10 and 25 cleared except Arthas 25

-Both Ulduar Metas, though the 25 man one was finished up during t9. Same goes for Algalon.

-10 Man Tribute to Insanity

-4/5 ToGC 25 man

-ICC 10 Man Meta, finished it up by 15%. Plus my initial core group scored a world ninth Full House 10 man achievemnt

By the end of Wrath stuff kind of fell apart with Unbridled, but a solid group of core players remained on the server and there I remained throughout Cata. Nothing really amazing but we did clear all normals, 3 heroics from t11, all but Rag from t12, and the guild struggled and kind of broke apart for various reasons in the first couple weeks of DS, and I didn't feel like rebuilding the guild for DS of all tiers and pretty much gave it a break from finding a new place until MoP. However we raided only six hours a week on a fairly dead server

Notable Experience from Cata

-All normal 10 man content

-6/7 H FL + Meta

-Various other HC

So, In MoP, I joined only the second real progression guild I've ever been in, which was also on Draka. That guild is The Vindicated, where I am now, which is basically remnants of a few of the more progression-oriented players on our server from various guilds plus a few others to, well, have a complete roster. Long story short, there is a mix of players here...players like myself that read strats, participate on the forums, and bring the performance to the raid, and then there were players that just kind of showed up unprepared that didn't really put much effort into researching or playing their class, which is fine I suppose if they want to play that way but not really the atmopshere I wanted to stay in. But long story short we lost a few of our talented players, including our raid leader, to burnouts and real life and so here I am looking elsewhere for a guild more suited to what I'm looking for. My current server is dead, there is no chance whatsoever of this guild recovering and I can't say I'm that upset about leaving the server.

Notable Experience from Mop

-6/6 HC MSV

-2/6 H HoF (Blade Lord and Wind Lord)

-4/4 N ToES

-4/12 N ToT with a couple hours and a near kill of Megeara. I've researched every fight I haven't done so I know what to expect.

What The Guild Should Expect from Me and What I Expect of the Guild

I'll start with myself. The hunter has been my main since forever, it was one of my original toons and though I now have an alt of every class at high level, the hunter has been my main all the way through my raiding experience.

Why You Would Take Interest/My Strengths

-Attendance. I'm there, always. I miss maybe 1 in 100 raids due to power failures, internet being down, a family emergency, something like that. I treat raid times like I would a job I plan to keep, I'm not going to make last minute dinner plans or go out drinking with my friends during raid time.

-Preparation. I'm ready to go. I come prepared, I watch strat videos, often several of the same fight, look up mechanics, bring more than enough consumables for the whole week, keep up with hotfixes that may change the way the fight works, etc etc. I don't like it when people aren't prepared, it shows, and is rarely excusable. Someone that isn't prepared is just wasting time. Multiply how much time an unprepared person can waste if a group is wiping because of them for example by the number of raiders and you have a lot of time.

-Participation: I've been a raid leader so long, I have hard time not participating in guild forums that discuss strategy and the like or at least reading up what people have to say. I don't want to be a burden.

-Utility. The hunter brings a lot of it, and most hunters, even some that bring the numbers, have no idea what to do with it. I would like to say I do, and even keep track of a hunters tip and tricks forum on MMO Champion that caters to little things. Raiding is about a group, not about an individual feeling special. I do everything I can to provide max dps while trying to help the healers in some cases, tanks in the other, hell the hunter can save a group for wipes in some circumstances, say, with usage of misdirection or distracting shot. I have a lot of binds, Also, I'm a leatherworker and use the long forgotten by most players drums of speed when it could be helpful. Only helps the party, but still, it can be handy.

-DPS. Am I the best DPS ever that never makes mistakes and ranks on everything without even trying? No. But I've always been competitive, am extremely disappointed when I am not and do everything I can to find out what is wrong if it's not satisfactory. That being said, I have ranked before for a week or so on quite a few fights, including some in MoP. I use tools, primarily FD, to help me min/max but as I said before, also actively take place in dicussions on MMO champion, keep an eye on what top players are doing and why, and do my own testing on target dummies/looking over logs.

-Drama. i hate it. I'm not going to bitch and moan about petty things. I want to have fun and kill bosses while doing my part.

Things I could Improve On

-Mistakes. Everyone makes them, and I will always openly admit them, especially if it's something really stupid, or try to correct them instead of panicking and getting myself/my character killed. For example on our first potential Wind Lord kill at like 5% I clipped a wind bomb dodging whirling blade, someone else did the same, and it was game over in just two seconds. It was the first one I ever stepped on by accident and I ensured it didn't happen again, because no one wants to be 'that guy'. Same thing with sand traps on council in ToT, we were learning it, I admittedly could have paid more attention but I did use Masters call or disengage when I may have found myself stuck in them, minimizing damage taken or just flat-out dying like some people do that could easily break themselves out.

-DPS. Yes, I said it was one of my strengths but it's also something I can always improve on, and I'm always doing my best to keep on top of the theory-crafters on various sites.

What I Expect from The Guild

Two main things I already mentioned. I want to have fun and I want to progress. From the way the guild is descrbed, how long you've been around, and how well you guys do in a rather casual schedule is impressive. I contine to play this game to raid endgame heroic content. That is why I'm subbed. I don't play for pvp or questing or leveling alts, which all can bet fun in their own right, don't get me wrong, I play to raid. And I strongly prefer doing so with a good group of people that aren't total dicks about every little thing yet don't waste raid time either. I also have been inclined to return to 25 mans as I did enjoy the larger environment and I have an updated computer that is capable of running the game at max in 25 man environments.

And of Course, the Stuff You Came Here to Look at

Armory

http://us.battle.net...Elycee/advanced

I plan on going troll upon xfer if approved for a trial. There may be a name change with that as I prefer the male troll model but I'll let you know ahead of time.

Logs

http://www.worldoflo...calendar/03-13/

Some things are missing like Jin'Rokh and Tortos kills, I'm not sure why. However there are kills and wipes of various t15 bosses as well as some t14 stuff still up. I go SV for all four of the first fights, in case that is asked. The fluidity buff is not very.reliable for the first boss as the pools can be funky so it's a safer bet to be SV. I haven't toyed with MM yet, so I go BM for single target fights, SV for those that are not. I play whatever is deemed best for each encounter, not whatever I feel like. I enjoy all three hunter specs, though, so overall, it doesn't really matter to me what I play.

Just a link to my guild if you want to look at it/my server. You can also track my character and see that I don't do a lot of guild hoping.

This one is SV of course. I don't have one during a raid but this is just one I took during combat doing dailies. BM is very much the same with mostly the same binds, if you really want one I can make another SS but everything is very much the same, especially since at their core the two specs play similarly enough. I have weakauras that aren't all displayed that show me relevant things such as trinket procs and how much time they have left as well as things like lust/RF/BW auras, also with timers.

As for my binds, some of them may seem funky but I use the Razer Naga and some buttons are more comfortable than others. I know where they all are due to muscle memory, and I only use the shift modifier as it just keeps things simpler for me, I find ctrl kind of odd to reach with my setup and it's really not necessary. This works very well for me.

Also, I switch my talents around a lot, depending on what is best for the fight, quite a few of them can get changed quite a bit, particularly barrage and glaive toss. I didn't feel the need to discuss my rotation (or priority, as that is really what it is) all that in-depth because I feel it's fairly common knowledge, plus I have logs and such.

Anyways, thanks again for reading through. Hopefully my application here isn't as horrible as reading The Scarlet Letter but if it is, I apologize., I'll keep an eye on this forum to answer any questions you may have. I received quite a few replies from my post and after looking through you guys were the first one I wanted to apply to based to what I was looking for so I would like to think I could be a good fit.

Yeah. I like the Red Sox and The Patriots.

CT going Socks and Pats?!?!?! Wrong answer!!!!! Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods?

A former raid leader -- how good are you at being an indian and not the chief? Are you able to take direction and listen rather than lead during raids?

Be honest, did you actually read about that hussy Hester Prynne, or watch the Demi Moore version?! Or worse -- all knowledge from Emma Stone references in Easy A?!

And finally, you mention that your schedule is open, due to being GF-less. Now, we all know women ruin everything, so, if you find a broad, are you going to have to stop raiding?!

Thanks for apping! :)

1. CT is pretty split, at least where I live. Baseball wise it's 50/50 Yanks/Sox and for football its the same with Giants/Pats. Sox have been a joke of late though, so we'll see what this season brings. As for casinos, I'm not a huge gambler but it's hard not to go with two of the biggest casinos in the world nearby. I'd go with Mohegan Sun though I think, the crowd seems to be a bit younger and I see a lot more crazy old people gambling all their money away at Foxwoods. Kind of depressing, really.

2. I'm quite good at following directions, most of anything I've contributed of late has just been stuff on my guild forums, particularly when we are beating our heads against the wall. I won't say I don't enjoy it but it's never been my favorite thing to do either, you have to have a thick skin. If I never had to RL again, I'd be quite happy.

3. Oh...I would say I got about halfway through the book and then spark noted the rest because I couldn't take it anymore. Fortunately I was spared the movie, I could never do that to myself! Suppose the pain may have been shorter, though.

4. Nope. There are 4 other nights of the week. My raid time is my raid time....well..okay...if she is a filthy rich super model chances are it may interfere with raid times. However chances of that happening are about as likely as Justin Bieber making a good song.

I am glad to see that you decided to drop by! And I like the Justin Beiber reference, you are already ahead in my book. I don't know much about hunters so I will leave the specifics to other people and it sounds like everyone has already asked the only questions I care about so I am just here to say thanks for checking us out and I hope you like what you see!

Hi Elycee,

For a personality standpoint I like what I'm seeing in the app. My main concern is that you have relatively little HM raiding experience. Even looking at logs or DPS in normal modes is not really apples-to-apples with heroic progression, where raid awareness and utility become much more important. I can look at something like a survivability report (http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-jk8gwcjkk1j2q6mr/survivability/?enc=bosses) and infer you are kind of in the middle of the pack for your team - not the worst but not the best either.

Let's start with this statement you made, which I feel was pretty bold:

Utility. The hunter brings a lot of it, and most hunters, even some that bring the numbers, have no idea what to do with it. I would like to say I do

Give me specific examples during current tier fights as well as heroic mode fights from MSV. I prefer hearing what you actually did as opposed to what you hypothetically think a hunter could do.

I am planning to arrange interviews throughout the afternoon later today, from roughly 2pm to 7pm EST. My btag is ashin#1840. Pending your response here I'd like to set up a mumble date. I have some members out of town during the next several weeks due to a combination of work and spring breaks, so I am looking to get trials in starting as soon as this next lockout on Tues. If you need to give notice to your current guild, however, that's also fine.

Cheers.

Hey there.

1. Survivability...I'm not sure this is even a word. Anyways, I looked over that report you mentioned. For starters, we two healed most of those council attmempts before turning to three, and we killed it the first attempt or two we did so if I recall correctly. There are four times in the red in that example. The first time I died was to biting cold, I was standing away from the raid as I should and simply didn't get any/enough heals. Second time I was low and died to a sandbolt when I was low hp from factors I couldn't control. On Tortos, the first early death was from a breath that didn't get interrupted, I would normally have used deterrence but I believe I used it during quakestomp to take reduced damage. Either way, it's intended to be a raid wipe mechanic. And, for the fourth death there in the red, looks like I was just being dumb and got hit by a turtle and then falling rocks, I won't offer an excuse, because there isn't one.

http://www.worldoflo.../survivability/ I think is a better example that includes some heroic stuff...my one early death was due to me being targeted by unseen strike and improper stacking in the group, people were too spread out. I moved away from the few people that were there so as to not wipe the group and took a brez instead.

As for lack of HM experience, I suppose you are correct. Most of mine really dates back to Wrath. Whether or not that makes me compatible or not is up to you, I feel I would be or I would not have applied.

2. My Utility Comment.

For starters using feign death, misdirection, disengage and deterrence on a regular basis are just things that come second-nature to me. I don't mean to imply that our utility requires rocket science to use properly, it doesn't, you simply learn with experience how it's best used. However, it's there, and I stand by what I said before. I'm always thinking about what I could do to help. And yes I actually do these things.

H MSV examples.

Stone Guards

-Postehaste is a good talent here for painting, which is what I used

Feng

-Ice trap beneath the adds where they spawn

Spirit Kings

-Deterrence through flanking order if more viable than running around them. Also very handy if about to be targeted with pinning arrow, avoided many of those using deterrence there as well.

-Disengage away from skull adds to get distance, same with if about to get targeted with volley.

-Tranq shot Delirious spell from the last boss

Will

-Deterrence for sparks of course

-Concussive shot for slowing sparks when/if necessary, the other adds as well

-Glyph of black ice for speed increase over ice where the sparks usually were to make them easier to soak. Used ice trap on add spawns as well to help keep them controlled

-Scatter shot on any out of control adds

-Wyvern sting for CC. Frost trap for cc when applicable

ToT

Jin'Rokh

-Deterrence during lightening storm to help the healers if the need arrives. You don't do any damage if you're dead.

-Disengage to book it out of the puddles if targeted by a spark

Horridon

-MD adds

-Ice trap adds

-Disengage when targeted by charge to get away from raid and put boss towards the center

-Binding shot apparently works well, I didn't get a chance to use it as I was helping with interrupts would it's a more viable talent for hunters on this fight than a lousy 24 second interrupt

Council

-Ice trap placement in front of Marl'ii for instant stun and slow for when the add spawns

-Master's call or disengage with posthaste for getting out of sandtraps if such a situation occurs

-Concussive shot on add is necessary

-Same thing with binding shot on this fight, didn't get to use it as we never got a Sul empower but it does work for those adds and had it at the ready in case

Tortos

-MD bat adds to tank, disengage to get closer to them works well, too. They were on one of our healers and I actually did this to get them to the tank faster and though we wiped later it prevented a death.

-Ice trap in front of turtles spawn for slows

-Deterrence during quake stomp for reduced damage taken from various things. It also blocks 100% damage from the breath if it happens to go off

Megeara

-Deterrence during rages if necessary

-Disengage away from various threats, particularly the beams. Postehaste works well with kiting.

3. My guild is actually more or less dispersing, a few are going to remain but it's going to be even more casual if they do. The raid leader is the one taking a break from the game, we lost a healer to real life, and we've had some tensions anyways because of our mixed player base. Our sever is dead, there are no potential raiders to recruit from without amazing progress. Either way, they know I'm not planning on sticking around.

As far as transfering, I can do it at any time.

Anyways, hope to hear from you later, I will be around this afternoon for a bit so I'll be on sometime mid-late afternoon. Hello to everyone I didn't say hi to yet and thanks again for your time.
