  1. Well played Pardet, well played. I'm going to upgrade your forum account to Recruit and send you an invite in-game. That will allow you to view our EVE forums and the information overload they represent. Let me point out some highlights... - Our guild has pretty high standards of behavior and conduct. Please read the Code of Conduct and post your understanding so we know you've read it. - The EVE Online Chapter Policy forums has a pile of information about how our corp operates in EVE. Of particular importance, here are instructions for joining our in-game chat channel and here is an explanation of our in-game rank structure. Some of us have limited playtime, so we use the forums a lot to discuss happenings in the game and plans for once we're actually able to log on. I'll be sending you a PM soon with even MORE words to read.
  2. Paradox Interactive games! I played many many hours of HoI2 and CK2. For some reason I could never get into EU4 the same way I loved CK2 and HoI2... what's your theory as to why that is? I googled your name and found no reference to any science fiction novels... explain? I live in Maryland right now but visited Boston last year for PAX East and loved all three days I spent in the city, even when I WASN'T getting swag. Did you grow up in MA or did you move there for school? My wife is also going to become an entrepeneur, and she does all kind of silly things I don't understand (research, networking, writing 'business plans', that LinkedIn site thing). What kind of business are you thinking about starting? Lastly, an EVE question... as a wormhole daytripper, have you converted to the Religion of Bob?
  3. Well you need to apply to SOHCO in-game, and I'll upgrade your account to Recruit so you can read the approximately 1 bajillion words we've written about EVE. Alternatively, Ashin can fix your old account (Mithras) - would you prefer that? As a returning Vet, you'll just require a two-week re-familiarization period before you can be upgraded back to your original rank.
  4. We can't do anything about your out-of-corp alt, but I'd encourage you to have a combat main in SOHCO as well. There are PvP fleets daily in EU and US. And you won't get much excitement out of null sec life as just a merchant, unless you have a jump freighter in which case we desperately need some doctrine fits imported.
  5. Hey man, welcome back. We've got EVE Online, FFXIV, and WoW going at the moment. So pick your poison. A bunch of us are eagerly following Eternal Crusade, the 40k FPSMMO. What do you think of it?
  6. Ooo. That's going to be at least $100. Plus the cost of sending me a Bears jersey that I will burn immediately afterwards.
  7. I sent Ascenity an in-game mail and a PM on the forums, neither have been answered. We almost had an industrialist!
  8. Axion! We haven't heard from you in a few weeks, how's it going?
  9. Icy! I haven't seen you in-game or on the forums for a few weeks man. Is everything alright?
  10. I'm already thinking up some perks for donations. Karaoke will likely make an appearance. I bet my kids will come up with some amazing ideas too.
  11. Extra Life 2015: A gaming stream-a-thon raising money for the Children's Miracle Network. Join the SoH Team! http://www.sohguild.com/index.php?/topic/17765-south-of-heaven-does-extra-life-2015/

  12. Ladies and gentlemen! We are exactly two months away from Extra Life 2015's game day! Last year I did Extra Life for the first time and it was a really rewarding experience. SoH members were some of my best supporters and I raised $460 of my $500 goal. But that's not going to satisfy my need to help children this year. You know what WILL? A South of Heaven Extra Life team! I've thrown together a barebones page here. To sign up, you'll just need to register on the Extra Life site, go to that team page, and join our team. I've set our initial goal at $2000, but I would LOVE to raise it! I will also be editing some of the text on our page to reflect our guild story. If you don't know what Extra Life is or how it works, the site has a great explanation here. If that's too long for you, I will summarize. 1. Sign up on the Extra Life website and join the SoH team. 2. Set a fundraising goal for yourself and pick a Children's Miracle Network hospital to support. All my funds raised go to the Johns Hopkins Children's Center, but there are choices all over the country. There are PR reps from each hospital that send out updates to everyone, and they sometimes have RL meetups where you can meet patients and other Extra Lifers. 3. Customize your fundraising page and tell all your friends, family, and distant acquaintances on social media that you're participating in Extra Life 2015 to raise funds For The Kids. 4. At 8AM on November 7th, pick a game and start streaming on Twitch. Make sure your Extra Life page is linked somewhere prominent (I used an overlay with the URL). Play games. Take requests. Put on funny outfits in response to donations. Here's what I did for my stream last year... 5. Continue streaming until 8AM on November 8th. Then take a nap. Then wake up and be amazed at how many dollars you raised. Enjoy your renewed faith in humanity. Now I know 24 hours is a REALLY long time to be strapped to your chair. Luckily there's nobody from Extra Life Corporate running a stopwatch and deducting dollars if you take a break! Here's what the Extra Life site says... You can even split your 24 hours into multiple pieces. Many people use that tactic to try and get more donations due to less competition, or just to avoid completely screwing up their sleep schedules. There's nothing wrong with it! On a personal note, I'm going to be sharing my stream with my family this year. My middle daughter has already shown an interest in creating videos for Youtube, and Wifey has volunteered to help with the marketing push for both my personal effort AND the guild's! So! A chance to play games (which we already do) and raise money for a great cause! Why haven't you signed up yet?
  13. I haven't seen Ascenity in-game or out-of-game since he posted this. I hope he's alright!
  14. Hello again! You're likely going to be our first EU TZ member, though Elend is online for a good bit of EU as well (and I'm usually online around 2100 EVE Time as well). As you can see, we enjoy harassing our applicants with a bunch of related or unrelated questions on their applicant thread. What was your favorite MMO before EVE and why? On H1Z1, what is your default response to an unknown person - do you shoot first, ask questions later, or give them a chance to be friendly?
  15. Ascenity! Glad to finally see your app. I'm pretty busy today with family stuff, but I should be able to properly harass you with questions (and process your app) later tonight.
  16. Fera just informed me that you're Wynter from AA, so hi! I'm neck-deep in EVE Online right now, but I'm glad to see you've stayed in touch.
  17. All this posting on an EVE recruit thread... someone get Inedit an EVE referral link!
  18. I played a Druid first as Alliance then as Horde. I only raided in vanilla, but WoW was the MMO gateway drug that has me almost always playing at least one. I'm going to upgrade your forum account to Recruit and send you an invite in-game. That will allow you to view our EVE forums and the information overload they represent. Let me point out some highlights... - Our guild has pretty high standards of behavior and conduct. 19. Hey man, thanks for the post. Just to translate our forum names to EVE names, I'm TBert, Elend is 'Marlania Targaryen', and Overkill is usually playing Mattos Vali or Jayl Reinquist. They've both failed at contributing to your applicant thread with questions, so I'll be that guy. Which race was your favorite in SC2? I was Protoss meself, made it to 'Diamond League' when the game first out, then promptly put the game down and barely ever played it again... I am a great consumer of Italian food, but not much of a cook. Nothing more sophisticated than opening a can/jar and mixing it together with other things that also come out of a can/jar. Your EVE story is pretty similar to mine. I initially subbed in 2006, played for about 8 months. Resubbed in 2010, played for about 6 months. Most of us resubbed back in December. What brought you back to the game this time? Random piece of trivia, at one point South of Heaven's WoW raiding chapter was in the top 1% of US progression raiding. Did you play WoW for the raiding or for the PvP?
  20. Alright Axion, it seems our heckling is complete. 21. Hi Axion! Glad to see your app. It has been a hell of a few months for SOHCO as well, we only had ~ a month in Fountain before everything started going to hell. I'm glad Guardians Collective is interested in coming over, I hope it works out well for everyone. Part of our initiation process is harassing you with random questions to see how well you handle yourself and to get to know you a little better. I'll start. What do you do for work? How do you feel about hummus? What's your favorite PC game of all time? Once the heckling is complete I'll update your forum rank and send an in-game corp invite.
  22. Jack, Chibi, Nen, please check out the 'Where's The Wall?' EVE thread, I'd love your input.

    Hello

Hey there Corwin! My life has been completely absorbed by EVE Online, so I haven't even looked into the expansion. The draw of internet spaceship drama is too strong. I hope you enjoy the expansion though!
