Quick update.  I heard from Verrim in game.  He's decided he'll be better served by sticking to a newbie corp, maybe in hisec, for now.  I've asked him to keep us in mind for the future.

Hello Verrim - Valence here.  It was nice to chat with you last night.  I hope that lab is feeling better today.

As we discussed during our interview, I suggest you take some time to liquidate your assets in Provi and start working on a few skills that will serve you well out here.  I strongly recommended Interceptors and Gallente Cruisers, and suggested you pick up Science and Graviton Physics so you can work toward piloting a Sabre.  Let me know if you have any questions about all that.

In the meantime, my crew might have some questions of their own for you!

One question that I should have asked earlier - in your post on CCP's forums, and in your initial mail to me (Solomon / Valence B here), I had the impression that you intended to keep your account in an alpha state.  But your post here indicates you're ready to go omega as soon as you get settled into a good situation.  Could you clarify?

For the record, we've already had a robust conversation amongst ourselves about what our posture should be toward alphas.  I think we're landing in a place where we acknowledge we're probably not the best home for total newbies (not for lack of love, but we just don't really have training infrastructure), but that we would welcome alpha accounts based on whether the right kind of person is behind the other screen.  Of course, there's no denying that an omega can offer much more to a fleet, but a good pilot behind a simple ship who's also a good friend is just fine with us.

Wow!  I can see that you are not someone who's forum participation I will need to worry about, which is excellent.  We definitely recruit for people/community-first folks, and you've consistently given me that vibe.  So I think you're going to enjoy your new home (for others - Jonni's been invited, but needed a day to consolidate some hi-sec assets before coming under the gaze of our current war-dec).  But out of everything you wrote that I could have responded to, I share Mathias' reaction, below.
