  1. Hello and welcome! I'm Valence Benedetto (and Solomon) in-game, and looking forward to chatting with you soon. Essentially our application process has three steps: posting an intro here, interview in comms and the dreaded API background check. Hopefully we can connect for the comms interview this weekend. In the meantime, would you like to send me a PM here with your API? You can use this link to create the proper kind. Please check the 'no expiry' option. https://community.eveonline.com/support/api-key/CreatePredefined?accessMask=4294967295 Let me know if you have any concerns. I'm sure you are familiar with this from your previous time in BLUEP. Speaking of which, may I ask why you are applying to us rather than simply re-joining them? Cheers.
  2. Hello again. Two things. First: when I read your name, even though I realize it is probably supposed to be "Otto Elite", for some reason I want to see it as a French word that maybe relates to the bathroom. (I clearly don't speak French.) Second: I have completed your background check, and I don't think it really generates any questions. I probably will not make it online tonight, but I should be around quite a bit Friday through Sunday. Let's plan to have a brief chat in Mumble, and then I'd be happy to offer you an invite to the corp. @Tyrlis or @Brinelan are also able to conduct the interview and invite, if I'm not around.
  3. EVE Late Night or Flex Hour crew - we need you Wednesday night!

  4. Does Crown Royal make a rye? I thought all their stuff was blended. Welcome! And thanks for posting your introduction. (Virtual CEO Valence Benedetto / Solomon here.) The others have already asked a good assortment of random, personal questions. So, I will refrain from adding any more. Essentially, our application process involves three steps, and they can be done in any order: post a personal introduction (done), have an interview in Mumble, and perform the dreaded background check. In order to keep the process moving, would you like to PM your API info? We require a full API; however, it is not shared beyond the corp. You can use this link to do it: https://community.eveonline.com/support/api-key/CreatePredefined?accessMask=4294967295 This is also a good time to purge your account of any old and unneeded API's. Please send me the information via private message on this site, so that I can develop a healthy paranoia about your secret life as a hostile spy.
  5. Welcome to the corp! For the record, veggie tacos are not hippie-food!
  6. Having interviewed Sus and completed his background check, I am happy to welcome him to the corp!
  7. Hey Hirab! Valence B here. Thanks for your patience with me over these past few days. You have a very interesting background. What made you decide to learn Arabic, originally - did you learn it while in the Air Force or before? 2 classes short of the MBA - damn, that must have stung. But I'm glad to hear that it all worked out for the best. I haven't gotten a chance to check your API's yet, but I will do so today for sure. The only thing that kind of confused me on the surface is that it seems like you have been playing EVE for a really long time, but when we spoke it sounded like you hadn't really gotten to PVP much? Why didn't you join a PVP oriented group at some point in your past? The fact that what you want in EVE now is a community means you have come to a good place. Tell me what that place looks like, to you? What are the two or three most important characteristics your gaming community needs in order to feel like home?
  8. Hey Sus! Thank you for sending me (Valence B) your API and posting your intro here. On the surface, you sound right up our alley. I'm going through your API now and will send you a private message with some follow-up questions. But basically it looks good to me. Eh.. most of us are not exactly young. We might surprise you! My question: what about our recruitment post interested you?

    Promotions!

Congratulations to @Gold Fish who is being promoted to Senior Member, EVE Chapter. We have also awarded him a specialist title, Space Trucker, in appreciation for all his JF piloting on our behalf!

    Promotions!

Congrats to Intimus Inferi, who impractically insists on being known as @Practical here instead, on promotion to member!
  12. Thor - are you still out there? I am in game Monday evening, and would like to move forward with your application process. We've suddenly got a lot going on in our area, which is a double-edged sword for newbros. You'll be guaranteed a memorable experience with epic fights, but your "swimming lesson" will consist of being thrown into the deep end of the pool while we ask ourselves - is he a swimmer or a sinker?
  13. Hi Liv - I've been around and in EVE most of the weekend, but it looks like your busy social calendar kept you out of game. I will probably be in game most evenings this week, but Monday night would be a particularly convenient time to talk. Hopefully that works for you.
  14. Which alt would you like me to invite first? Looks like its Ormus!
  15. Good morning! I've accepted Plyn's app into the corp and bumped up your forum access. You'll receive a welcome mail in game that will explain the trial period and direct you to our new recruits orientation thread. Something I forgot to talk to you about last night - we normally ask folks to limit themselves to two characters in the corp, during the trial period only. If that's an inconvenience, we can talk about making an exception. But let me know what you think.
  16. Literally the first good thing I've ever heard IG say about kids!
  17. We need to hire you to write our recruitment pitches! @Plyn I'll be in game tonight from about 9:30 EDT on (01:30 EVE). If that's convenient for you, let's plan to have the long-awaited Mumble interview tonight?
  18. From what I have seen (and felt), the two biggest personal factors to enjoying Null are flexibility and patience or having a long-term viewpoint. In Null you don't always get to control how you spend your time online. That's the double-edged sword of being in a true sandbox game. The content is player-created, and sometimes players decide to bring you content at the exact moment you had planned to settle in for a quiet evening of ratting. (Or vice-a-versa.) I think the fact that you'll be coming with a group of friends gives you a big head start, especially since one of them has taken you under her wing. I will be available from about 9:30 EDT (01:30 EVE) tonight for Mumble interviews. If you're available, let's plan to connect. I think we also still need your API? Please use this link to create the appropriate API, and choose the "No Expiry" option. https://community.eveonline.com/support/api-key/CreatePredefined?accessMask=4294967295 You can PM it to me here. If you've already mailed in-game, please disregard.
  19. Hey Frank - Valence B here - nice to see your post. For everyone else's benefit, I'll just mention that Frank and I have already spoken in Mumble and I've already done the API check. He's training Interceptors right now and planning to circle back today/tomorrow about putting in his app. We talked about the fact that his incoming kiddo is probably going to rock his world in terms of time management, and agreed that we would play that be ear. Since we advertise as being friendly to adults with jobs and other real-life obligations, I thought we should at least give it a shot!
  20. Hello Livictus. It seems like you, Thor and Plyn have the makings of a musical trio at some point in the future! I appreciate that you trust the judgement of your longtime gaming companion! But please take a moment to review our recruitment post and make sure that ours is a group you're enthusiastic to stand with: https://www.reddit.com/r/evejobs/comments/5utwd6/sohco_tightknit_null_for_adults/ I would also suggest checking out our alliance's philosophy statement which, in a nutshell, insists on mature / family-friendly conduct: https://bladesofgrass.space/philosophy.html Let us know what you think! Also - I'm going to make myself available from about 9:30 EDT (01:30 EVE) tonight for Mumble interviews, so let's plan to connect if you're around. Lastly - we can get another item "checked off" if you would use this link to create a full API, check the "No expiry" option, and send it to me via PM. (If you're already sent to Valence Benedetto in game, that's fine too.) https://community.eveonline.com/support/api-key/CreatePredefined?accessMask=4294967295
  21. Sounds like as good a reason as any. Welcome to our forums - Plyn mentioned you might be stopping by. From the info covered by your intro post, you seem like you'd be a welcome and interesting addition to our crew. But I have to confess that we're not actually named after the Slayer song. Assuming you're accepted to the corp, remind me to link you to the thread where we explain the actual thinking behind the name. It's "deep" ish ... There's no shame in flying the Blackbird. You may not get to use Mordu ships *too* much out here - they're imbalanced state generally dissuades people from fighting them, so we usually don't roll with (m)any. A garmur is usually welcome in most roaming or home defense fleets, provided the pilot can handle her! So I think it's great that you're interested in following your friend and mentor. But have you had a chance to look into our corp or alliance to decide if it will actually be a good fit for you? Have you spent time living in deep null-sec? For example, there are no missions out here. But we have more-or-less the most lucrative ratting the game offers. You'd probably want to think about a VNI->Ishtar for that, although your Tengu can be fit to run escalations, which is profitable!
  22. Hello @Plyn ! It was nice to get a chance to chat with you last night in game. As I mentioned, this has been a really terrific intro thread. I'm amazed at the number of topics you've managed to bond with us on - everything from punk and dive bars to Supernatural and child-rearing. Most impressive. We are mostly through your API check - god bless characters that have been out and about for a long time - and I have some initial questions. I know that we're due for a meet-up in Mumble, but I figured I would put a few out here for the sake of time. It seems to me that you went dormant a little less than two years ago, in mid 2015. And you just recently started to play again in the beginning of this year. Is that right? If so, I'm curious if you could talk to us about the reasons for you leaving and returning. What got you re-motivated after all that time? I'm also curious why the very first thing you did was to join up with Zam Hunter's group. Could you elaborate on your reasons for joining and for possibly leaving two months later? Thank you.
  23. It's true that there appears to be a Floridian junta in the works. SOHCO survived the invasion of the Canadians, and we'll survive this. Tickles, I have completed your API check. The only confusing item to me was a Proteus you bought for Tarin. Someone has done some injecting! Speaking of which. Open reviewing your API, I note that you are unable to fly any ships in our doctrines. So you will need to do some skill training to get serviceable. I would suggest the following: 1. Get basic skills to fly Vigil, Maulus & Celestis which will allow you to be useful in any fleet. (Importantly, get the respective frigate & cruiser skills and e-war specific skills to 4: sensor linking, target painting, long distance jamming, frequency modulation) 2. Get your drone skills serviceable for ratting in a VNI - heavy drones to 4 ASAP, plan to get it to 5 is this is how you'll be making money 3. Get T2 light and medium drones so you can fly the Vexor in shield cruiser roams 4. Get a racial frigate of your choice and evasive maneuvering to get into Interceptors From there you can start exploring different aspects of fleets to see what you like. You won't be able to read them until later when you join the corp, but for future reference our VNI Ratting Guide and our Intro to EWAR Guide.
  24. Welcome! I assume from your past association with Black Thorne that @Tarin Audeles is one of them? Who are the others? Why do you think you'll enjoy null-sec? It can be a lot to handle, especially for a new / low SP player.
