  1. Thor - are you still out there?

I am in game Monday evening, and would like to move forward with your application process.  We've suddenly got a lot going on in our area, which is a double-edged sword for newbros.  You'll be guaranteed a memorable experience with epic fights, but your "swimming lesson" will consist of being thrown into the deep end of the pool while we ask ourselves - is he a swimmer or a sinker?

  2. Good morning!  I've accepted Plyn's app into the corp and bumped up your forum access.  You'll receive a welcome mail in game that will explain the trial period and direct you to our new recruits orientation thread.

Something I forgot to talk to you about last night - we normally ask folks to limit themselves to two characters in the corp, during the trial period only.  If that's an inconvenience, we can talk about making an exception.  But let me know what you think.

Thank you for the kind words, @Oshri Paliako. Regardless of how everything works out in the end, I want to say it has been very enjoyable getting to chat with everyone here. When a lot of corps advertise that they have a great community I tend to smirk a little bit and think to myself, "We'll see." It's obvious, both from the process and the involvement of the group as a whole, that this is a group of players with value that extends well beyond what any character may or may not be doing in EVE next week. Normally looking for a group to play with feels a lot like playing Russian roulette; what an incredible stroke of luck to have stumbled in here!

We need to hire you to write our recruitment pitches!

@Plyn I'll be in game tonight from about 9:30 EDT on (01:30 EVE).  If that's convenient for you, let's plan to have the long-awaited Mumble interview tonight?

Not sure I can speak for how I'll like Null, but I'm totally down to give it a shot.

From what I have seen (and felt), the two biggest personal factors to enjoying Null are flexibility and patience or having a long-term viewpoint.  In Null you don't always get to control how you spend your time online.  That's the double-edged sword of being in a true sandbox game.  The content is player-created, and sometimes players decide to bring you content at the exact moment you had planned to settle in for a quiet evening of ratting.  (Or vice-a-versa.)

I think the fact that you'll be coming with a group of friends gives you a big head start, especially since one of them has taken you under her wing.

I will be available from about 9:30 EDT (01:30 EVE) tonight for Mumble interviews.  If you're available, let's plan to connect.

I think we also still need your API?  Please use this link to create the appropriate API, and choose the "No Expiry" option.

    https://community.eveonline.com/support/api-key/CreatePredefined?accessMask=4294967295

You can PM it to me here.  If you've already mailed in-game, please disregard.

  5. Hey Frank - Valence B here - nice to see your post.

For everyone else's benefit, I'll just mention that Frank and I have already spoken in Mumble and I've already done the API check.  He's training Interceptors right now and planning to circle back today/tomorrow about putting in his app.

We talked about the fact that his incoming kiddo is probably going to rock his world in terms of time management, and agreed that we would play that be ear.  Since we advertise as being friendly to adults with jobs and other real-life obligations, I thought we should at least give it a shot!

  6. Hello Livictus.

It seems like you, Thor and Plyn have the makings of a musical trio at some point in the future!

I appreciate that you trust the judgement of your longtime gaming companion!  But please take a moment to review our recruitment post and make sure that ours is a group you're enthusiastic to stand with:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/evejobs/comments/5utwd6/sohco_tightknit_null_for_adults/

I would also suggest checking out our alliance's philosophy statement which, in a nutshell, insists on mature / family-friendly conduct:

    https://bladesofgrass.space/philosophy.html

Let us know what you think!

Also - I'm going to make myself available from about 9:30 EDT (01:30 EVE) tonight for Mumble interviews, so let's plan to connect if you're around.

Lastly - we can get another item "checked off" if you would use this link to create a full API, check the "No expiry" option, and send it to me via PM.  (If you're already sent to Valence Benedetto in game, that's fine too.)

Started looking for a strategy game like the old Unification Wars and found this insanity instead.

Sounds like as good a reason as any.  Welcome to our forums - Plyn mentioned you might be stopping by.

From the info covered by your intro post, you seem like you'd be a welcome and interesting addition to our crew.  But I have to confess that we're not actually named after the Slayer song.  Assuming you're accepted to the corp, remind me to link you to the thread where we explain the actual thinking behind the name.  It's "deep" ish ...

There's no shame in flying the Blackbird.  You may not get to use Mordu ships *too* much out here - they're imbalanced state generally dissuades people from fighting them, so we usually don't roll with (m)any.  A garmur is usually welcome in most roaming or home defense fleets, provided the pilot can handle her!

So I think it's great that you're interested in following your friend and mentor.  But have you had a chance to look into our corp or alliance to decide if it will actually be a good fit for you?  Have you spent time living in deep null-sec?  For example, there are no missions out here.  But we have more-or-less the most lucrative ratting the game offers.  You'd probably want to think about a VNI->Ishtar for that, although your Tengu can be fit to run escalations, which is profitable!

  8. Hello @Plyn !

It was nice to get a chance to chat with you last night in game.  As I mentioned, this has been a really terrific intro thread.  I'm amazed at the number of topics you've managed to bond with us on - everything from punk and dive bars to Supernatural and child-rearing.  Most impressive.

We are mostly through your API check - god bless characters that have been out and about for a long time - and I have some initial questions.  I know that we're due for a meet-up in Mumble, but I figured I would put a few out here for the sake of time.

It seems to me that you went dormant a little less than two years ago, in mid 2015.  And you just recently started to play again in the beginning of this year.  Is that right?

If so, I'm curious if you could talk to us about the reasons for you leaving and returning.  What got you re-motivated after all that time?  I'm also curious why the very first thing you did was to join up with Zam Hunter's group.  Could you elaborate on your reasons for joining and for possibly leaving two months later?

    Thank you.

  9. It's true that there appears to be a Floridian junta in the works.  SOHCO survived the invasion of the Canadians, and we'll survive this.

Tickles, I have completed your API check.  The only confusing item to me was a Proteus you bought for Tarin.  Someone has done some injecting!

Speaking of which.  Open reviewing your API, I note that you are unable to fly any ships in our doctrines.  So you will need to do some skill training to get serviceable.  I would suggest the following:

    1. Get basic skills to fly Vigil, Maulus & Celestis which will allow you to be useful in any fleet.  (Importantly, get the respective frigate & cruiser skills and e-war specific skills to 4: sensor linking, target painting, long distance jamming, frequency modulation)

    2. Get your drone skills serviceable for ratting in a VNI - heavy drones to 4 ASAP, plan to get it to 5 is this is how you'll be making money

    3. Get T2 light and medium drones so you can fly the Vexor in shield cruiser roams

    4. Get a racial frigate of your choice and evasive maneuvering to get into Interceptors

From there you can start exploring different aspects of fleets to see what you like.

You won't be able to read them until later when you join the corp, but for future reference our VNI Ratting Guide and our Intro to EWAR Guide.

I particularly enjoy tight-knit groups, and since I know a few of the members, I figured it was a no-brainer to join.

    Welcome!

I assume from your past association with Black Thorne that @Tarin Audeles is one of them?  Who are the others?

Why do you think you'll enjoy null-sec?  It can be a lot to handle, especially for a new / low SP player.

  11. Alright Nightjar - you've got the green light from me, pending the Mumble chat.  If I'm not around, @Tyrlis or @Brinelan can handle that as well.

Just one more question until then: what are your typical play times?  (I know USTZ, but I mean more like which days / how often / etc)

Looking forward to flying with you soon!

  12. Hi Nightjar - I just completed your background check.  Everything looks fine, although I wanted to ask some questions about your past corps.

Can you tell me about your time in Northbound Enterprises [N-BND]?  You were not there long, and this corp was associated with TARD right a time when relations between that alliance and are coalition were extremely strained.

You had mentioned that you were hoping to finally find a more stable situation.  Your last corp actually seemed fairly stable.  Could you talk a bit about why you stopped playing late last year?  Did you let them know?

If your main reason for leaving was frustration with NRDS lifestyle, that's certainly something we can appreciate.  It didn't work out for us, either. ;)

  13. I agree with Simone - it sounds like you will be a good fit for us.  As Tbert probably explained, there are essentially three steps to our application process (which can happen in any order).  You've completed one of them by posting here and being responsive to our questions!  The other step that we could get rolling is the API check.  The final step is a voice interview on Mumble.

You can use this link to generate the kind of API we need:

    https://community.eveonline.com/support/api-key/CreatePredefined?accessMask=4294967295

Please check the "No Expiry" option, and send the codes via a PM to me.

This is also a good time to review your list of API's and delete any that you no longer require.  Lastly, please disclose any other accounts you may have in advance - it will save questions later.  Thank you!

  14. Welcome!  I kept thinking that your name looked familiar to me - maybe it was the NAGA cross-over.

We'd love to have another dedicated logi-bro in our ranks.  Was there anything specific that got you interested in our corp?  Have you had a chance to read the alliance's philosophy statement?  You will experience zero toxic comms here, although we sometimes do get silly - even rowdy - after a few drinks. :p

What do you do for ISK, when you're not keeping friendly spaceships alive in battle?

Over time she learned to use a box with a towel in it I set up in the corner of my room, I honestly don't know how, but it just developed into a routine for her. She usually sleeps at the same time I do, but there is no way for her to get up on my bed unless I put her there or give he a way to climb up so that isn't something I worry about. She is very smart in regards to what she should and shouldn't do, and after doing something once and failing she stops (like trying to climb up my dresser to the rat cage).

After this I got curious and did some google/reading about iguanas.  It seems they are pretty smart and definitely develop routines and habits, like you say!  Sounds like a neat pet.

In other news, welcome to the corp!

She outgrew her cage so currently she just roams my room

Wow, that would be creepy for me!  What if you are tossing and turning in your sleep and roll over on her?  Also.. doesn't that mean she's leaving little "messes" all over your room? :p
