I bartended for about 6 years and here's a pro-tip for everyone. If you're in an atmosphere where the bartender will remember you... Pre-tip. So in your case you'd give them the $10 when you ordered your first drink, then no tip for the rest. All the bartenders I've worked with preferred this and usually gave the customers who did this better service and stiffer drinks.

So fix I would buy a beer for $4 and tip like, $5 saying something like "I'll be back for more", so he knows?

Yep. We enjoyed knowing right off the bat we were serving someone who wasn't costing us money. We were taxed for 10% of our total sales, so any time someone stiffed us, it cost us.

By the way... Standard drink tipping etiquette (from a bartender's point of view) is $1 per drink or 15% for any cocktail over $10.

Jesus Matt.. cardinals do NOT "screech". They have a beautiful song they do in the morning and at sunset, and the rest of the day they just make little pings or beeps to let their mate know where they are.

Sorry, nothing is at 4:30am. The cardinal is a dick plan and simple. In fact i think he does it intentionally.
