  1. Hey Adamant/Daniel - nice to meet you. Sounds like you're looking for the same thing we are - PvP! I think you're going to find what you're looking for here. We have lots of local pvp options and easy access to the active areas of null. We're all learning too - we have brand new players and new pvpers and returning vets who are trying to shake off the rust. Taking the Loki in on those procs is a bold way to get back into pvp, i like it! We should be able to catch each other on Discord tonight for sure. I'll send you a Discord link later this afternoon. Have fun on Saturday, we'll catch you next time for sure. Talk to you soon!
  2. Hi Davos Shaile - Nice to meet you! We followed a similar path to you through null sec and back out again. We used to be in Blades of Grass back when they were part of GotG. We left a couple years ago after getting tired of the blue donut, hung out in low sec for a bit, and then took a break from the game for a good year and a half or so. The rust is real after that break for sure! We're still setting up our corp infrastructure, so that's eating into my PvP time. But once we're past setup mode, I'm planning on whelping as many hundreds of frigates as it takes to get decent at solo/small gang PvP haha. We still get our medium to large gang fix too through NPSI fleet stuff - being near Jita and Amarr makes catching those fleet really easy. Makes it really easy not to miss Null that much haha. Our ESO group is pretty quiet right now unfortunately - sounds like there's a bit of a content drought and they're waiting for the next expansion. You're welcome to check it and the other guilds out too - the most (only?) active two are Wow classic and Destiny 2. So the last step in the recruitment process here is to do a quick voice chat before we send an invite. I'm free every night this week if you're available. I'll send you our Discord link in a PM soon. We have a regular fleet every Saturday night at 0100 Eve/800 CST, you're welcome to join us. We're taking out our new Punisher doctrine out of Stacmon. Talk to you soon! PS - You are totally right about IT professionals in Eve. I think we have at least four people in IT here.
  3. Hey Rorian - welcome to the corp! Glad you all are enjoying Eve. There's really not any game quite like it out there right now. It's certainly the only one that gets me out of bed at 500am to do space chores haha. Tbert's right, you guys have the right mindset for sure, you'll be experts in no time. We're planning a weekly PvE night that might help you guys bring in some extra money (sounds like you guys are doing pretty well with explo though!). If you're interested, stop by this thread and vote on which days would work for you: https://www.sohguild.com/index.php?/topic/20383-pve-night/. We're also pretty close to announcing two PvP doctrines that will give you all some ideas what to train for. I think the frigate doctrine is more or less done, and we have a cruiser sized doctrine that just needs a few tweaks before we can relaunch it. Both doctrines are new player friendly/relatively easy to train for. Looking forward to PvPing with you guys again soon!
  4. Hey Jamroar/James - welcome to the corp! Glad you had a good time on the fleet this weekend, there will be more where that came from haha. Looking forward to helping you learn more about the game through cryptic non-answers to direct questions. (For real though I had a good time answer questions in Discord last night, even if we had a hard time giving straightforward answers!) While you're on the forums, check out this thread about a possible PvE night: https://www.sohguild.com/index.php?/topic/20383-pve-night/ (there us a ton of other interesting stuff in our Eve subforum too) Sounds like you've got s great trip to Vegas planned, have a great time man!
  5. Hey Kamella, nice to meet you! That's a very fine intro post. Your corp history and SP situation sounds very much like my own when I joined SOHCO. I bounced around some pretty terrible corps until I found SOHCO. I had about 11mil skill points spread over a bunch of unrelated stuff. Tbert and our old director Ashin showed me some of the finer points of skill planning, taught me how to PvP, and I never looked back! I'm going to send you a PM with our Discord link here soon. Let's set up a time to chat - we'll talk about where we live, how we can get you started PvPing, and I'll answer any questions you have about the corp. We'll have you send in an in-game app after that. I'm free every evening this week, so let me know what time works for you. Real interesting muffler repair! I'm picturing some kind of awesome Frankenstein's lawnmower - i'd pay to see that movie for sure!
  6. Hey Bashen - welcome to the corp! You can send in a corp app whenever you're ready. It was good talking to you the other night. Looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble we can get into! You've got some really cool ideas and knowledge on game mechanics. I'll spare you the full spiel on where we live since we covered that Saturday, but Orvolle and to a lesser extent Algasienan, are the two places to remember. We'll start our PvP fleets from Orvolle in most cases. No doctrines yet, but we'll probably have one or two worked out in the next few weeks. For now, t1/faction frigs and dessies for low sec PvP. For null, anything BC or below that you don't mind losing. I'm very late for work at this point, so I better run. Hit us up on Discord if you have any move in questions!
  7. YES i was going to ask this too, but i want the NSFW version on the fleet saturday LOL!
  8. Sent you a PM with the Discord link! I'm going to eat dinner here soon but I should be back on by 730/800 your time.
  9. Sounds good! I'll hop on around then. I'll send you a PM with our Discord link here soon.
  10. Hey Vanu - welcome aboard! I've got to run to work, but i wanted to drop a note here for you quick before I left. We can get you setup with the corp tonight if you're around for a quick chat on discord. I'll give you the rundown on where we live and we'll talk about what ships you can fly/might want to train for. Talk to you soon!
  11. Hey Q - nice to talk to you last night! Welcome to the corp! This is probably my fifth time around in Eve, so you're in good company haha. So I mentioned last night that we're living in Placid - our home system/station is http://evemaps.dotlan.net/station/Algasienan_VI_-_Moon_4_-_Genolution_Biotech_Production. We call it "Algae" for short. We don't have any infrastructure set up anywhere right now, but there are some useful public structures scattered around our high sec island (starting with a citadel w/clone bay in Algae). We're very close to Jita, and we have two decent local markets in Orvolle and Stacmon. I have some PvP ships for fleets staged around our neighborhood, so there's not urgent need you to import anything yet. If you do want to import ships, I suggest bringing in ships you'd like to fly in kitchen sink roams. DPS cruisers are the best beginner ship if you're real new to PvP - you can always ask for ideas in our Discord too, we definitely have opinions on these things! We have a fleet this week at 0100 Eve on Saturday. We'll leave from Orvolle - if you can make it just show up and I'll hand you a ship . Look forward to flying with you soon!
  12. Hey welcome back Moros! Your good fortune is our good fortune - we'd be glad to have you on board again, and you're brother and friend are welcome to give us a shot too. Drop us an in-game corp app and Tbert or I will accept it the next time we're on. I'm going to send you a PM here soon with our Discord info. We switched from Mumble to Discord a couple years ago, and we use the chat channels in Discord a lot more than we use the forums. We still post stuff here, but not as much as we used to. For your brother and friend - they can post an intro here and also send an in-game app if they're interested. We'll still do a quick voice chat with them when they're available. It'll be a five minute spiel on who we are and some of the posts they should read on the forums. A little SOHCO in Eve catch up: We left Blades towards then end of 2017 and suffered a collective burnout/real life intervention a few months later. We're now living in Placid at http://evemaps.dotlan.net/station/Algasienan_VI_-_Moon_4_-_Genolution_Biotech_Production. It's on a High Sec Island surrounded by low (mostly Caldari/Gallente FW space). We're just a few jumps from Syndicate, Pure Blind and Cloud Ring, so between those areas and the active FW PvP systems right next store, we've got plenty of PvP opportunities. Logistics are pretty simple too. I'm currently staging ships in Orvolle, which is 13 high sec jumps from Jita and three from our home station. I'm just plucking them out as I need them and then stashing them in "Algae" if they survive whatever I was up to. Stacmon is also an option, it's about the same distance from Jita and our island. The island is a surprisingly fun place to hang out and do stuff. I don't have a lot of mental bandwidth when I play during the week, so it's nice to have the option to choose the level of risk I want to take haha. Our goal right now is to set up at least one weekly corp fleet (usually Saturday night) - small and microgang stuff. We've had two so far and looking at another this weekend. You're speaking my language here for sure! I've been reading a lot of classic horror and sci-fi over the last year or so. I did Turn of the Screw, The Haunting of Hill House, and The King in Yellow over the last few months. All three were amazing - I'm pretty sure I sat down and finished Hill House and Screw in one sitting - that's pretty rare for me, but I couldn't put them down. I'm doing a collection now - The Dark Eidolon and Other Fantasies by Clark Ashton Smith. Has a few strong short stories so far
  13. Hey Codex - welcome to the guild! I'm going to send you our Discord and Mumble information here in a bit. Discord is the best way to grab an invite to the LOTRO kinship - just drop a message there and someone will hop on and invite you. Our LOTRO group is pretty small right now and super casual too. The best chance to catch us to is to join us for a group night event. This week's events are on Wednesday and Thursday night from 830-1000 est. Look forward to meeting you soon!
  14. Hey nice to meet you Jon! Glad to have you aboard . I'm going to send you a PM with our Discord and Mumble info now. We'll be online tonight for some group instances, so feel free to drop us a line for kinship invite or even join us for some dungeons. Look forward to talking to you soon!

    Hi there

Hi Cluboris - nice to meet you! We'd be happy to send you an invite, we'll set that up soon! It sounds like you'll fit right in with us - the WoW into job/married/kids transition is very common around these parts . You're catching us a great time. We're all hitting level 20 and getting ready to start doing group instances. Saturday is slightly tentative this week - I have to go to a family party that I'm pretty sure duck out of in time for LOTRO game night, but I'm not certain yet. Looking at Thursday, Friday, and Sunday as possible other days. I'll have an updated schedule of the LOTRO subforums tomorrow morning. Speaking of LOTRO boards, we'll get an admin to upgrade your forum access so you can see the rest of the boards. I'll also send you a PM with our Discord and Mumble info (tomorrow morning). Looking forward to gaming with you soon!

    Greetings

Hey Rojdan - nice to meet you! Sounds like you've come to the right place . LOTRO definitely has some great group experiences that are worth checking out. Most of us have the same kind of time commitment issues, whether it's from work, kids, or other games that we play, so you won't find any pressure here to be online all the time. Our main group night is Saturdays at 900pm EST, and we try to put out a schedule a week or so in advance. One of the admins will upgrade your forum access this morning, and you'll be able to see the Nomads/LOTRO forum and the schedule for this week. We came up with the Nomads idea back in August, and we started with Wildstar at the end of August. Wildstar ended up being a short lived experience. NCSOFT announced the end of the game a couple weeks after we got there. That really killed our enthusiasm for the game, so we called a new vote and moved to LOTRO. You'll be able to see how we pick a new game when you can get into the Nomads forum. Basically, we put out a call for game suggestions, and then put up a poll with those games and let everyone vote. Anyone in the guild can suggest a game and vote, even people who aren't actively playing. Our goal is to stay in a game for at least three months, but we're also open to leaving if everyone wants to move on (that's what happened with W*). I'll send you a PM later today with the access info for our Discord and Mumble servers. You can drop a message in Discord anytime you're online for and ready for an invite to the kinship - there should be someone with invite powers around even if I'm not online. Look forward to gaming with you soon!
  17. Hey Buford - good talking to you earlier! Definitely glad to hear that the Nomads group sounds interesting to you. We got off to kind of a weird start with Wildstar and the shutdown, hoping to get at least two or three good months out of LOTRO . I'm going to send you a PM with our Discord/Mumble info here in just a bit. I should be on later this evening again to send you an invite to the kinship. I'll also get someone to bump up your forum access so you can see the rest of the site. We just started in LOTRO last night, and we have group events on the schedule for Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday this week. Some get to know you questions! - Are you east coast, west coast, somewhere in between? - What's your least favorite mmo ever - like one you really can't stand? - Any fun non-gaming hobbies? Talk to you soon!
  18. Congrats to @Keg and @Loda on promotion to member - glad to have you guys aboard!
  19. Hey Loda, nice to meet you! I bet Shrap and you will find we're a fun group to game with here. Watch out for that @Fera person though, she's trouble! So we call our main gaming groups are called "cohorts," they're our little colonies that we set up in games. Our only active cohort right now plays Destiny 2. We also have a new cohort, the Nomads, that going to be a more transient group that votes on which games they play and for how long. You can find more information about that group here: https://www.sohguild.com/index.php?/topic/19988-cohort-nomads/. These groups are open to anyone in SoH, so feel free to check them out if you're interested. We also play all kinds of games informally. I think Shrap has already found some people interested in playing Sea of Thieves with you guys. I'd probably check it out myself if I wasn't preoccupied with setting up the Nomads group! Anyway, glad to have you here and look forward to gaming with you soon!

    Salutations!

Hi Keg - nice to meet you! Welcome to SoH, you're joining up with us at just the right time. Some of us will be starting a new game soon, and we don't really know what it'll be yet! That's the new cohort Fera was mentioning earlier. You're welcome to join us where ever we end up! So questions...I usually keep mine pretty straightforward/non-crazy: What's your fondest memory from one of the games you mentioned above? 3k hours in GW2 had to have led to some pretty fun times right? Favorite beer or beer style? Are you East Coast, West Coast, or somewhere in between?
  21. Hey nice to meet you Singularity! The ESO group is super casual and typically does a dungeon or two every Tuesday and Saturday night around 830pm EST. Feel free to drop and game with us for a bit!
  22. Congrats to @Syy101, @Qi'o, and @Gusenica on promotion to member!
  23. Very nice to meet you Syy - look forward to gaming with you! I'm also a big fan of the Elder Scrolls games - every time I walk through one of the Cyrodiil towns, I get a strong urge to fire up Oblivion! I think there's an SoH group that plays GTA and they were looking for more people a few days ago - never played it myself so I'm not sure how that works!
  24. Hi Adam - nice to meet you! We'd be happy to send you an invite, I'll try to send one over before I leave for work this morning. I normally write novel length responses (at least it feels that way haha) to intro posts, but I'm short on time before I have to leave this morning. So I'll just say I look forward to gaming with you soon, and I'll try to circle back here later today to write more!
